As an Indian and buddhist by birth, i always used to wonder why it is so big deal for muslims to leave islam. If u dont want to practice just dont practice why u ve to officially decalre that u are leaving islam. And as i was growing up and started learning about the world, i understood one thing, in hindu faiths (sikhism, buddhism jainism amd hindusim) no one actually forces u to practice anything. Like since childhood i used to visit kali temple, Shani temple every saturday, and my mother always used to give me few rupees for temple donation box, as a buddhist she never hold me back to visit hindu temple. Same goes with my hindu friends, they used to visit our buddhist temples in every buddha purnima. Its may not be so important for us leaving the faith, but for a muslim leaving something which u since chinldhood belived as eternal truth and when u grow up, get to know that everything u ve learnt in ur entire life is FAKE is so much emotional. Its like leaving ur parents forever, with whom u have so many memories. In a way it is emotional too. But wrong is wrong. ISLAM is an EVIL CULT. its a CANCER. I want to leave Islam, when I was little it was fun and a source of happiness because I didn’t have any of the burdens, when I turned ten my dad pressured me to put on my hijab, I get little to no sleep because of prayers, as a result I sleep through all my classes and am failing everything, the stress Islam causes me led me straight to self harm and suicidal thoughts, my parents have said if I want therapy i have to go to a Muslim therapist, they tell me that I should just read Quran and make dua to feel better but I’ve been doing that for 6 years, im exhausted and burnt out, I genuinely can’t wait to leave this religion

Idk why it took this long for me to realize I’m not as horrible or broken as my muslim family perceives. As a life long atheist, I have to say this was an excellent piece of work. In Europe we had something called the age of reason. Quran may state that religion should not be forced. But it also states that non-believers should be persecuted and killed. But to me as a non-Muslim more important than the scripture is what Muslims are doing in real life. And I see that there is massive and violent oppression in the name of Islam. There is oppression and violence on the large scale like recently in Iran shooting down protests, death penalty for apostasy or blasphemy in a number of Muslim majority countries, or Islamist terror (ISIS, Taliban, Al-Qaida, Al-Shabaab, Boko Haram ...). And there is oppression in the personal sphere. Muslims who have doubts or even do not believe anymore in Islam usually have to hide their thoughts even from their family as they might be shunned, attacked or forced into things they do not want, in rare cases even killed. Muslim communities hardly ever accept and tolerate members leaving Islam. You are free to believe in and practice Islam, I fully support your right to do so. But do not force your faith on others, not even your children.

As an Indian and buddhist by birth, i always used to wonder why it is so big deal for muslims to leave islam. If u dont want to practice just dont practice why u ve to officially decalre that u are leaving islam.
And as i was growing up and started learning about the world, i understood one thing, in hindu faiths (sikhism, buddhism jainism amd hindusim) no one actually forces u to practice anything. Like since childhood i used to visit kali temple, Shani temple every saturday, and my mother always used to give me few rupees for temple donation box, as a buddhist she never hold me back to visit hindu temple. Same goes with my hindu friends, they used to visit our buddhist temples in every buddha purnima.
Its may not be so important for us leaving the faith, but for a muslim leaving something which u since chinldhood belived as eternal truth and when u grow up, get to know that everything u ve learnt in ur entire life is FAKE is so much emotional. And the position is that the individual chooses to be cut off from God. As a life long atheist, I have to say this was an excellent piece of work. In Europe we had something called the age of reason. People moved away away from the received wisdom of the past and began to question everything. I am afraid Moslems have yet to get to this stage. I really hope they do because there is a real conflict between the blind alley of Islam and the free thinking and questioning we have in the West.

Quran may state that religion should not be forced. But it also states that non-believers should be persecuted and killed.
But to me as a non-Muslim more important than the scripture is what Muslims are doing in real life. And I see that there is massive and violent oppression in the name of Islam. There is oppression and violence on the large scale like recently in Iran shooting down protests, death penalty for apostasy or blasphemy in a number of Muslim majority countries, or Islamist terror (ISIS, Taliban, Al-Qaida, Al-Shabaab, Boko Haram ...). And there is oppression in the personal sphere. Muslims who have doubts or even do not believe anymore in Islam usually have to hide their thoughts even from their family as they might be shunned, attacked or forced into things they do not want, in rare cases even killed. Muslim communities hardly ever accept and tolerate members leaving Islam.
You are free to believe in and practice Islam, I fully support your right to do so. But do not force your faith on others, not even your children.
