Your video helped me immensely. I did the job today - lots of work and waiting but great to save the money. Thanks for the video.
SO First I want to say thank you I have watched 2 times to repair 2 speakers all went well. the second speaker I repaired was actually fixed by someone in the past. In you video when you said to put the last foam on the top you didnt know why I now know the last owners guy didnt put any on and it rattled bad. so thank you again I hope if you do more projects to the car you share them with us
Thank you , great video ! Your contribution to educate me I greatly appreciated it... I just bought a 2003 sc430 that is like brand new with only 17k miles .. love the car. If you undertake any other projects with your car u should consider posting it ... thanks again
thank you from the UK, really totally useful.. thanks again for taking the time to make this video B-)
Thanks for this; followed your lead and worked perfectly; if your careful you can just lift up the foam where the outer bracket screws are and just reuse the oem foam on the outer bracket to help prevent rattle against the door panel.
On my car the foam had completely deteriorated. The Florida heat and humidity really breaks down plastics and foams very fast. There wasn't even enough to me a good guess on how thick the replacement should've been. So I just took a guess. But thanks for the tip. I'm sure it will help others.
Hey Roy, I can see by your plate that you are a Florida resident. I just purchased mine in Miami and I am currently waiting for the set to fix the speakers. I love this car, but the Levinson speakers must be made of white gold because they are so expensive. Anyway, I just wanted to thank you for making this awesome video. I will make a video when I do mine. Cheers!
The theme to "Sanford & Son". Love it!
I threw the Mark Levison speakers out as the were not worth my time to fix them. After market speakers are a reasonably easy fit, you need a soldering iron for the wires and a dremel with a small cutting disk to trim the plastic cradle. I am completely satisfied with the end result.
Great video. Ordered the kit, put together, piece of cake. Thanks much.
Super helpful thank you
Great video 😊
Thanks for the vid Roy.
FWIW though, we don't repair these speakers because they sound good. Don't get me wrong, they do sound really good but the main reason we repair them is because we don't want to pay $150-375 ea.(depending on size) for replacements.
Levinson systems are some of the best sounding factory systems but they have weak outer rings(A very common problem) and oddball resistances in relation to speaker size which makes cheaper aftermarket replacements a "no go".
You are not kidding. Lexus sells each for no less than almost $700. Truly insane.
Good job men
Love the Sanford and Son music
Awesome,thank you
Did you happen to make a video on how to remove the door panel? If not, can you suggest a good one?
The foam is to seal speaker to door panel so as sound comes into car not the door . So Replacment fish should be completed all round no gaps
Thank you
Sorry to ask but does anyone know how to fix the clock not working when the ignition is turned off?
Have you tried the Lexus forum? www.clublexus.com/
Did you go through Lackland AFB in 1987? 3708 BMTS? I went through there with an Airman Suarez. Is that you? Didn't even know his first name back then. We all went by our last names because it was sewn on our shirts. Lol.
Black Bart, nope. I that was not me.
Lots of issues in my es...nothing like my rx...
Hey Roy, do you participate on ClubLexus.com?
If not, I sure wish you would join us! This is a nice video!
1:28 Steve Levinson was a bum. Trust me, you would be able to tell them apart..
