Lucas, i don't know theory. Do you recommend me to join you in patreon anyway?
@@alsanmatte I have tabs and stuff that doesnt require theory knowledge:)
Cool. I have played rock and metal my whole life but now i want to make it sound Jazz hahaha (play any stuff really but add more style, like your happy birthday history video or this one). Ok I'll join tomorrow and see how it goes
Done!
Lucas I can read sheet music(staff notation) and I know most of the basic theories like scale forming, Chord forming theories, cycle of 5th and 4th,diatonic chord chart theory etc. but I have next to no knowledge about harmonizing and I really want to know about the topic you discussed in this video in a more explained and detailed way..In that case should I join your patron page?
When you give actual useful guitar lessons using a meme format - STONKS
Dude… this would be a legit stonk.
You called me?
"Just improvise"
Lucas Improvising: Beautiful 4ths and 6ths that add richness to the harmony
Me improvising: _T R I T O N E S_
i bought eight string monster to DJONT tritones to da hell! ahahaha
Time to make beautiful music
Minor Second: laughs in dissonance

Joke’s on y’all, I only use out-of-tune quarter bends on all my basslines

And i think to myself: what a wonderful world
Twinkle twinkle wonderful world.
Glad someone else also got that
same thoughts
Hoped I was the only one who heard it lol.
Wonderfull World is another music that "matches" part of a classical song (twinkle twinkle little star by Jane Taylor 1783-1824). There is a Lucas Briar's video talking about other popular songs CM "inspired" ...
Also like It Louis Armstrong were a Brazilian composer in the 60's.
"It is really important not get depressed about everthting there is to learn, because you will never learn everything. There is will always be something more to learn, and that's really good. Because the greatest joy in life is the process of learning, not achieving the end result."
-Lucas Brar, 2020
I really love how he put it that way. Thanks for the motivation and inspiring us Lucas! Viva!
It's actually a well documented fact in behavioural sciences and could be found in the terms of "fixed mentalities vs growths mentalities" . For more about motivation I'd advise you to read Drive by Daniel H. Pink, lot's of useful things for people doing creative hobbies or work. Always great to rediscover that truth, it helped me too, so thanks so much! 😉
what if Im 3 chord guy?
@@condo230 time to learn that 4th chord boyo
I've been playing longer than this due has been alive and I'm not even 10% of what he is.
"How do I stop playing Wonderwall and how do I get girls?" - is an oxymoron.
Аbsolutely
Lucas Brar is a very creative person!
He's getting repetitive... I've been watching his content for a quite long time
@@filipe8673 Music is all repetition, you repeat the rhythm, you repeat the melody, you repeat the harmony but it is different from redundancy. Lucas Brar is not redundant.
@@freemanrabe4689 I'm referring to his content lately.
@@filipe8673 well we can always suggest, and be lucky. Hey Lucas, please do a tagalog song in jazz!😂
@@freemanrabe4689 yes... But there's something bitterness about this new content... Back then, Lucas would often focus more in arrangements. Transition to jazz from Disney songs; melodies played in several music styles.
Now he embodied this goofy, unnecessary meme exposure, taking influences from that goofball Davie504. Ruins it for me.
But i accept that this is a consequence from channel growth. Lucas, unfortunately, just tries to fit in.
I don’t know why are you making this video right now, but today i was about to stop my musical studies because of the pression to success in it. But I saw this video just before sleeping. Thanks for these endings words Lucas, you gave me motivation and hope for my musical future!
Another Lucas, but a french version of it.
What an interesting class. I think now, I can finally play something more than Wonderwall. Thanks Lucas
"anyways, guys, here's wonderwall"
starts playing his reharmonized version of it
"hey! thats not how the song goes!"
you can now play wonderwall in 7 different ways
This is one of the best videos you've ever done in my opinion, and you've done some amazing videos. Keep up the good work. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
@Vilius Rastenis I just recently subscribed to him. He's becoming one of my favorite RUclipsrs.
The most practical, instructional video I've ever seen for learning reharmonization. Most other videos are like, "Whoa those chords are so cool!" but don't actually tell you how to think and find them for yourself.
Fast forward short and just a perfect lesson. I wish there would be more of these kind of videos for guitar
most joyful part is not achieving the object it is studying and learning
-Lucas Brar
6 steps can be thought systematically in probably... 6 months? 7th step requires 20 years or practice.
Edit: Did 10 years of piano music school, played guitar for 7. That's my point of reference
7th step is Jazz !...the highest step number is always Jazz !
I don't know, I feel like 6 months is too little for those steps and 20 years is definitely too much for the last. I'd say it took me around three years to learn steps 1-6, at which point I was already improvising with multiple voices. Training that to be more natural and musical took maybe another three to four years.
My frame of reference is 12 years of guitar.
@@penttikoivuniemi2146 :: We have some pretty good guitar players here! Wow. I agree with your assessment of time !!! Wow again.
Thanks for the info
This is the lesson I've waited for 20 years to find
I learned a lot from a meme! I feel confused 😂
When you say:
"the greatest joy of life is the process of learning", that's one of the best thing in this video ❤️🎸🎶
Thanks 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Love this man, you're really good at summarizing concepts that deserves their own respective half to an hour long video.
"..the greatest joy in life is the process of learning, not achieving the end result". What a brilliant thought! Thanks!
This is golden information! Dropping a comment to help the YT algorithm. Watched it many times and then checked out his Patreon - I highly recommend becoming a patreon too and support Lucas. He has a load of information there, just like this, clearly explained. No more running from one random youtube lesson to another, you build on top of what you learn with each lesson! Have a great day and success on your musical journey!
this must be the most interesting, clear introduction to chord substitutions I have ever seen. Very impressive and "simple" at the same time. You made my day ! (and probably days or years ?)
This is pure gold for intermediate level players like me! Thank you!
Hi again Lukas, really liked this video. I'm always learning. Thanks.
I have watched countless videos on reharmonisation trying to get the hang of it. This video surpasses all of them due to how straight to the point you get and how simple you make it. Thank you so much!
Great job with the editing, the way you edit videos makes you stand out and I had a good laugh at a few parts of this
This video is literally a mine full of gold, thanks a lot for this!
Put that in one your notebooks kiddies "The greatest joy in life is the process of learning, not in achieving the end result". I kind of picked that up in life but I wish I'd been told that as a kid!
Also Tomo Fujita likes to say: Don't worry. Don't compare. Don't expect too fast. Be kind to yourself
Probably the best video I've seen in a while. Thank you for this Lucas! YOU'RE AMAZING
Excellent. I'm impressed by your ability to switch from classical to jazz at such a high level. Another approach that
i like using is modal interchange. It expands the possibilities exponentially.
Love the stuff you put out! I know this may not be the most optimal for a RUclips audience, but I love it when you just play what you like. Would love to see some covers of whatever song is stuck in your head at the moment.
This video is just a treasure. A free treasure. You give sense to RUclips with content like this. Thanks.
Beautiful simple explorations of complex ideas. It's all there. Kudos! Much love from Chicago.
Make much more content like this Lucas! I'm pretty sure that I'm not the only one who glad to able to play these even not as good as you! Keep it up!
Awesome Lucas. I have been following you for some time now and really enjoy what you do
Really need more vid like this, love it man!
Amazing Lucas, this lesson is exactly what I needed. Possible to apply since min 1. Congrats, you are my youtuber n⁰ 1!!

Excelletn video, Lucas. Very informative - well explained and with great examples of each technique. Loved it!
Love this new direction. Also, thanks for the healthy dose of perspective at the end.
Excellent content Lucas. Thanks a ton. I particularly like the last step.
You killed it man! Thanks for sharing this! A lot to take in
I needed that last part. Awesome video.
thanks for this quick and insightful lesson. This video is added to my playlist for my study time. Love from the Philippines. 😉

This is a fantastic practice method! Love the approach you've come up with here.

Greetings from Bolivia
This was a fantastic video. You gave us a small glimpse behind the character. It made for a moving piece. Thank you for sharing with us.
this is really helpful advice, both for harmonization and motivation!
yes!! Great video :) cheers from Portugal
Wow what a video I'm honestly touched by your sincerity and teaching style. Aside from being an incredibly accomplished musician, you're a genuinely amazing person. Thank you so much for sharing with us your knowledge
Brilliant video, thank you. Lots of great tips!
I started playing the guitar in 2002 for 5+ years and just learned songs from the internet initially until I learned enough of the fret to start tabbing out music myself. However I never really understood what I was doing. I stopped playing in 2008 and have only touched my guitar maybe 2-3 times since then, but I got back into playing just a week ago. My mind remembers the music I played but my fingers don't, and it's so frustrating, but now I started watching these videos and suddenly things that I've played before started making sense, and I finally got some understanding how I was able to tab music out before. It's so much clear now, but my fingers are still having trouble finding the correct strings and frets, but at least now it's a lot easier to remember what I knew before! So excited to relearn it all and learn new things again!!! Thank you, and other RUclipss, for making these videos to help others out with their music!😁😁😁
Ny friend - I've been looking for a video like this for months!!! This is pure gold... every second of it
Man, you are a great teacher ! This lesson brought me closer to something i was doing by ear and luckily often got away with it. But you just broke it down to the very nuts & bolts... thank you for that !
I love how your content is entertaining and very useful at the same time!
your final thoughts are just great!
One of the most interesting video I’ve seen this year, thanks ❤
Very helpful, you should do more of this stuff!
This is finally making sense. Thank you so much!
This is SOLID GOLD! Thanks, Lucas 🙏
this is absolutely brilliant. wow. thanks for putting this together.
Thank you, Lucas. I think my brain may have imploded.
Thank you for this, it's pure gold!
This is so useful please keep doing these tutorials thank you so much keep up the good work
Excellent! Very nice and so practical too!
Thankyou, I was hoping you would make this video. 🙏
This is awesome! I’m a music student (specifically classical guitar) and even though I play grade 10 rcm, I never know how to implement the theory to make my own music on guitar. This is sooooo helpful thanks!!!
That's some seriously cool stuff. I've got to try some of those ideas!
Thanks for the vid, i love harmonization bit i suck at it. Love that u got such a big sponsor happy for u. I like the theorie ish lessons and vids. Love it, keep up.👍
Maaan this video was just what i needed ! You really helped me ! Thank you ♥️♥️🙏🙏
every couple of months I come back to this video and it slowly makes more sense to me, so thank you lucas! truly an inspiration, ur manly the reason I started playing guitar for more than just a hobby, thank you.
This was actually super helpful dude! :D
Great video! Thanks, Lucas.
Please make more of these! This helped me so much
One of my favorite guitar videos of all time! thanks Lucas.
This was one of the most useful things I needed right now I've been trying to learn new ways to express chords and notes and this did it 🙌
Génial !!! Merci c'était super cool comme vidéo 😀
finally. what I was looking for my whole life. you are truly awesome
Man what a great video. Simple enough to grasp the concepts with little knowledge of theory, and that bit at the end was a great philosophy for guitar or playing an instrument in general.
I've waited months for this video
Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us!
This was an excellent lesson! Thank you so much!
Thank you for taking time to make this video.
thank you so much lucas! this was really useful!

Omg.. Rare music stuff!!! Excellent man ! Waiting for more on harmonization.
This is incredibly useful! Thank you!
Thank you very much for the video. This is a great way to start a finger style cover for any songs. I am going to practice now!
This was simple and to the point. Very much appreciated!
CAN WE GET A 1HOUR VIDEO OF LUCAS REHARMONIZING POP SONGS
ITS JUST ODDLY SATISFYING
As usual, great video!
lucas : plays 7th and 7b5 chords.
also lucas : now that we have played BASIC chords........
A bunch of Maj/Min 7ths are relatable to the CAGED barre chords with one less finger and the B7 is in some beginner/intermediate strumming songs like Creep by STP. Try learning some Bill Withers, he goes into jazz chords without it being to complex. Same with a lot of funk, soul, and R&B. If this stage is intimidating but you want some introduction to 7th chords I recommend checking out Kerry '2 Smooth' Marshall and EricBlackmonMusic. They helped me feel comfy with 7ths and I'm just watching this video every once in a while and doing theory homework until it starts making sense lol.
Now, b5 starts to get 'gimme a sec, I've heard of b5 as the blue note but I need to look for it' territory but we're working on it and that really is pretty tame to when you're looking at some of the chords used in jazz. Find an unsimplified tutorial for La Pompe and you'll see what I mean lol.
Pretty basic ngl , up your game
7th chords are basic though?
This is absolutely brilliant Lucas…thank you
