Worthless Animal is a masterpiece. That whole album is insanely intense & the last scream makes me feel like I've climbed Everest and I'm screaming all my existential pain into the stratosphere. Its hard being a 43 year old, skint, single dad, but fuck me, music like this makes this life beautiful.
think it's really cool that they recognised that they were at a hardcore festival and decided that it was a better idea to not play tunes from their latest shoegazy album.
Definitely shed a tear or two in this one. I'm not even the biggest Deafheaven fan, but after 3 days of sweat, bruises and hardcore, they just hit differently. Such an emotional experience for everyone in that room.
Deafheaven will do that to a room. First time I ever saw them live, it was like everyone in the room came together. Strangers were high-fiving, it was wild.
45:38 when I saw those guys rushing onto the stage, screaming to the mic....that guy just held George's head tightly, shouting out anything about dream house....then they hugged. This is my first time weeping like this in front of the screen, Deafheaven do creates the world and emotions we always try to deliver out
Who would have known that an American black-gaze band in a Manchester hardcore punk festival would tap the primordial origin of music-with the help of great audience? This surely is one of the greatest musical performances of all time.
日本で素敵なアメリカの夫婦に、このバンドを教えてもらいました。 かっこいいバンド✨ありがとう! I was introduced to this band by a lovely American couple in Japan.Very cool Thank you for celebrating my birthday too
What the _hell_ did I just watch? I heard "Punk Rock MBA" say Deafheaven is "hipster black metal" so I _had_ to hear part of a song to know what this is. Only "part" since it's gonna suck, right? I just watched almost an hour of magic. It was strange they were at a hardcore festival. "This doesn't fit!" I _do not_ like this music. But whatever happened on that stage, and in that crowd was beautiful, stunning, captivating. It's hard to describe! Was there a single hardcore kid that could say anything negative about that? That was possibly the highlight of Outbreak Festival! It looked like the highlight of those _gifted_ musician's careers! They sure played like it was! I still probably won't put Deafheaven on my stereo, but WOW!
i truly believe that if u put any metal band to a hardcore crowd nowadays would be appealing to them. the hardcore scene have been very metallic for awhile now. thrash riffs and death metal were common within metalcore since the 90s. and now its way more common to see people embracing blackened music whtin the hc community. btw, deafheaven is as melodic as lets say.. counterparts and one step closer who were also there
Late comment, but it has to do with their fans. One of the bands that are good but their relentless online fanbase turns some people away. Blog Hipsters. That is where the "hipster" comes from.
@@RibeiroGames12 I agree, metal and hardcore are closer musically than ever now. I just saw Drain, Incendiary, God's Hate, Knocked Loose, Terror and the crowd screams "hardcore!" But these bands differ little from metal, and that's fine. The dark, evil, inverted cross, Satan stuff is all over hardcore now, too. I hate that shit & don't think it belongs but that's another long story. I remember in the mid 80s watching favorite bands like DRI, COC, Black Flag, FUs, even Circle Jerks wanted to appeal more to the metal & thrash crowd with the album "Wonderful." _Great_ album, BTW! To me Deafheaven makes senses in the hardcore scene because they actually kind of did come up in the hardcore scene and were even signed to Deathwish a hardcore label
Think it's fitting that the band plays such a fire set in the Manchester area, bringing Ian Curtis vibes with the emotional intensity and stage presence- expressed in very different ways, of course
@@PrimoSchnevi brother, "I miss it" has nothing to do with how recent this was. Hope your last year and a half has been good, I just happen to be back here.
Amazing show. Very good audio! Thanks for posting this Outbreak! That shoegaze cooldown from Honeycomb is always a hug to the listener. Deafheaven is genius.

Great to see a recent Deafheaven performance of such a superb quality, thank you very much! And it is indeed interesting that they did not play a single song from Infinite Granite. Though I found that album lackluster and underdeveloped on balance, I think the songs from it are quite enjoyable and impactful in the context of a set list integrating pieces from all their records. The contrasts are an integral part of what makes Deafheaven's sound amazing, and while these are nearly absent on Infinite Granite, they can be attained in a live concert.
I’ll never forget seeing them at Furnace Fest 2021. Everyone around me was kinda weirded out by it but it was one of my top 3 of the weekend. Loved this band before but they became something more for me after that. Unreal
