Fort de ses sept albums témoignant d’une trajectoire sonique unique, Alcest vient défendre son dernier en date, Spiritual Instinct sorti en 2019 sur le mythique label allemand Nuclear Blast.
Né en 1999 comme un projet solo de black metal du multi-instrumentiste et touche-à-tout Neige, Alcest s’est enrichit en 2009 de l’arrivée de son batteur permanent Winterhalter.
Bien qu’adepte de guitares tranchantes et de doubles pédales tonitruantes, le groupe ne s’est jamais interdit une aventure au delà de ses racines Black Metal. Flirtant autant avec le post rock, que la dream pop ou encore le shoegaze, Alcest fait partie des rares formations à pouvoir se targuer d’avoir inventé un genre musical: le blackgaze. Mêlant la dureté du black metal aux vapeurs mélodiques du shoegaze, Spiritual Instinct, leur dernier album en date est un parfait exemple de ce bouillon d’influences qui définit le son inventé par le groupe.
Un son bien particulier qui fait très probablement d’Alcest l’unique groupe de musique originaire de la commune Gardoise de Bagnols-sur-Cèze que pourrait citer Robert Smith de The Cure. Le gothique le plus connu du Royaume-Uni les ayant en effet invités à jouer à Londres en 2018 lors d’un festival dont il était le curateur.
Un groupe à part donc, qui emmène le public de la scène Temple dans des contrées sonores dont lui seul à le secret.

Alcest. Calling them a phenomenal band is a criminal understatement. Ranging from the metaphysical themes they often revisit carried by a language too sacred for anyone's sake to the myriad of emotions they effortlessly convey through their seraphic musical compositions, Alcest have proved themselves to be one of the best bands of this era. There is something different about them. It is like they know something about this world that none of us do. Listening to them made me feel things I've never felt in a thousand lifetimes. I love this band.

One of the most talented song writers of all time, Neige sings like an angel and screams like he's touched the oblivion that waits for us all. Winterhalter is so fucking good, and Zero and Indria are awesome. Shot, lit, edited with incredible care, and the sound engineering is unbelievably good! Thank you EVERYONE that contributed to this recording. Special shout out for Oiseaux de proie - I love this song and this is the best version of it I've ever heard \m/

I'm listening to the show, and I'm very pleasantly surprised.. what I don't agree with however is your description of how this man sings. The screams are awesome but the clean singing is not at all angelic. Awesome show and I will defo go see them.
@@jonneziengs I doubt that either of us really know what an angel sounds like :) it’s called poetic license - the point is the incredible contrast in Alcest’s music. I wish you all the best in your discovery of their music, regardless of how we choose to describe it.

@@VexLosers Saw them on their tour with Kaelan Mikla playing pretty much the same set as here. And yes, Delivrance totally sent me in some kind of meditative state. They could have faded out the song for 2 hours and I wouldn't have noticed.
@@Hipp0campus_1 the stage was basking in pure light, people in the audience slowly swaying in a trance, some weeping (I think I was bawling). even thinking about that moment sends chills up and down my spine. to end the gig in Delivrance, with that light & mist setup, is perfection. heaven on earth. I think that time we all could peek a little into that realm Neige has seen.
This simply is one of the best live shows that I have ever seen. Sitting here with goosebumps, absolutely astonished by the brilliance of the musicians, the songwriting and the sound. Wonderful!

If you don't tell me it's a festival, I can assure you that Art Concert adjusted everything so that Alcest is the best-sounding band in the whole festival, almost like it's exclusive to them! Outstanding quality!
I feel like I understand Neige through his art far better than if we could have known each other for years. Its a place you don't get to with most people, even people you've known a long time, the real side. Its what makes art and music wonderful, an understanding of a deeper side of a person without words, really.
You gotta appreciate how Neige has managed to clone himself to pull off the harmony vocals and overlapping screams, as well as thickening up the guitar sound.
Seriously, though, second guitarist/singer has mad talent too, and I definitely spent the first 10 min of the video trying to figure out if they were cutting between two guys or just back and forth to Neige from different angles
I remember seeing these guys open up for Opeth in Stockholm right after they had released Shelter and was absolutely blown away by the performance.
This was my first introduction to the band and I had not heard them before.
Bought the album, but the live performance was so unbelievably good that the album was rendered unlistenable afterwards.
This concert brings me back to that night and I am so, so grateful for this upload.
Thank you to the band and everyone involved.
I think I am ready to listen to that album now.

Never seen such a well behaved audience in a metal concert.
Can't blame them. When I watched Alcest live, by pure chance, I just stood on the spot, unable to do anything else.
First time I saw these guys:
>Beginning of the concert: "Huh, this is kinda slow and boring..."
>End of the concert: **T-posing while floating 10 cm above the ground, light coming out of my eyes and mouth**

Je ne connaissais pas ce groupe ce n'est absolument pas mon style mais la chanson Délivrance qu'elle beauté elle me fout des frissons comme jamais elle te prend tout simplement aux tripes..... Je l'ai vu en direct lors de la tournée avec Cradle 🤘🤘 faites plus de sons comme Délivrance et je suis preneur direct. En plus des Français 🇨🇵🇨🇵

Fan d'Alcest depuis sa formation, le riff de fin d'oiseaux de proie me fout toujours autant les frissons. Vous savez pas à quel point votre musique m'a aidé à passer des moments pas faciles et je crois qu'elle m'accompagnera toute ma vie; une véritable magie à l'oeuvre. Je pense en particulier à Delivrance que j'écoutais chaque jour à l'hopital et qui me rendait si serein malgré la situation......

They sound just like studio. Neige is basically in his top tier form & the drummer is excellent 🇧🇩
Sounds like studio because it was re-mixed. The original sound was an absolute nightmare. It took half the set for the sound engineer to rebalance Neige's vocals and the drums, and even then, it was still crap. I'm a big fan of Alcest but I couldn't endure the whole set for how much of a disaster it was. It stayed on Arte Concert page for a day or so before it was removed, which I'm sure is because of the sound quality and mix.
Now, I'm immensely impressed on how far whoever took it over managed to bring it. And I'm enjoying it a LOT.
So I guess where I'm going with that is a word of caution: yes, the sound is fantastic, but it was re-worked a ton. Do not expect to get this kind of quality live.

@@HH-ys1pqYeah, but when you look at the footage from this concert you see people swaying back and forth in the crowd and they're getting really good reactions. So if the sound was bad, how did they get good reactions I wonder?
@@Jerseyboondocksthe playback in live streaming is not exactly the same people listens live, the priority is the live audience so the sound engineers put the quality there and not on live stream

Je les ai vus à Rennes à l'automne dernier, en première partie de Cradle. Quelle chance de les avoir vus dans une si petite salle. C'était fantastique, quel voyage musical ! Et j'ai pu remercier Neige pour ce merveilleux concert à la sortie. Une soirée inoubliable...

Alcest in one of those few bands you listen to and fall in love with just one song ♥ Live concert at its best and applause to the sound engineers. Saw then live in 2020 in Krakow (Poland).
Awesome show! Saw them in Mexico City 2 months ago and it was magic.... Almost this same setlist + a few songs.
The last song makes this whole concert a truly spiritualism meaning. Its like connecting two albums. Deliverance to spiritual instinct ❤️
Its so amazing how few instruments & guitar skills, vocal skills can make great music. No need of extra drum set or shredding excessively to touch our souls.

Arrrhg ... J'ai toujours du mal voir Alcest rangé ''shoegaze '' vous savez c'est plus du Métal Ambient ..post Black Métal. . Après c'est personnel veuillez m'excusez j'ai toujours eu un soucis avec ces termes de ramifications. Si on devait juger par rapport au parcours de Neige Alcest c es st du Black Métal Français . En fait c'est du Black Métal mais qui fait appel aux énergies positives de la magie Blanche ce serait long a expliquer

Beyond reality there are colours, sparkles ,magic, pattrens which cant be perceived by our sense but only be felt by Alcest's music.
