    @carpenterbrut libère un mélange tonitruant de synthwave et de metal au Hellfest ! Une rencontre choc avec les morceaux issus Leather Terror, son deuxième album.
    Aux commandes de Carpenter Brut, Franck Hueso mélange metal, darksynth et influences 80’s. Vous l’aurez compris : sa musique claque, sa musique frappe, sa musique tonne.
    C’est en 2015 que le producteur formalise cet univers singulier auprès du grand public grâce à Trilogy, une compilation qui associait ses trois premiers EP. Il rempile en 2018 avec un premier album baptisé Leather Teeth. Le producteur y reste fidèle à lui-même : on retrouve en effet dans cet opus des sonorités très rétro, à mi-chemin entre l’univers de John Carpenter et la musique de Justice. En gros, une BO de film d’horreur sous anabolisants ! Face au succès rencontré par sa création, l’artiste se lance dans une tournée internationale qui l’emmène de Coachella au Hellfest.
    Après une Release Party d’anthologie, peuplée de zombies et de cheerleaders, c’est d’ailleurs à Clisson que nous retrouvons Carpenter Brut. Depuis la Main stage, Franck Hueso transforme le Hellfest en une gigantesque boite de nuit gothique grâce aux tubes issus de son deuxième album : Leather Terror.
    Concert filmé le 17 juin 2023 au Hellfest Open Air Festival, Clisson.

    Drummer is the man. Great example of how on point drumming holds the sound together. Not a beat missed. Chapeau.

    • @DustownTV
      @DustownTV 5 месяцев назад +3

      well, tbh (from a drummer's perspective) his part is only to stay on the fabricated beat. nothing impressive there, as he is not audible at all and hence he doesn't care to add any fills or specials to/above the guide track (check his hihat play in the 16th parts, for instance at Turbo Killer. it is tiring to play like that for 1h20, so he plays 8th in regular parts) - trust me, playing 1:1 to the tape can make you feel like you are the machine, run by the machine - that you programmed haha XD

    •  5 месяцев назад +23

      @@DustownTV he's playing the hi-hat notes exactly as they were laid down in the original track, note that in the first verse, there are no hats in the first half of that section and 8th notes in the second half, whereas in the second verse it starts with 8th notes and gets up to speed with 16th notes from the second half onward. You can check it as much as you want but it was spot on.
      It's not easy to do an ungrateful job of trying to sound like the programmed drums as much possible, because it seems like it is neither rewarding (can fool some to be mistaken for tape like mötley crüe lol) nor convenient (consistent 16th notes on hats for this long is a pain in the ass) but there was no backing track here, like it's beyond dispute.
      I'm not saying he's playing 100% of the notes from the record, but he's serving and supporting the song, no need to add cocky fills and stand out of the mix unreasonably, and he is still able to play it in his style while also adding some fine details here and there which have added value to the songs.
      Seem them live in 2022, he was making an excellent job.

    • @phillix1
      @phillix1 5 месяцев назад

      Session drummer here. He is covering a pre recorded track with triggers on his own instruments, post-edited. Still a great drummer. Most performances of the electronic genre do this. It's kind of like auto tuning your own voice live, but for drums - you still play the drums they're just not all you.
