my kitchen cold water faucet is giving hot water when I first open up the cold one. Is the water supply to the sink somehow connected to the shower valve? How are you working on the shower valve to fix sink hot water cross over issue?
All it can take is a fixture typically, shower valves, mixing valves above hwt’s, recirc lines, mop sink faucets, washing machines
I have the same problem in my house and on my washer is the problem is the shower valve bad ? If you can help me thank you.

Thank you just solve my hot water on cold side issue.. had this issue for 2 years and i couldn’t solve it, sometimes it did it sometimes not. thill i saw this video. Turns out my sister had a top shower shut of valve, that she would sometimes shut it off instead of turning off the main faucet valve causing my water mixture😂thank you so much was about to start breaking into walls🤣🤣🤣

What if your cold water is still infiltrating your hot water? In a single family house I don't think these mixers protect anybody or anything
Much prefer to have two handles and and mix the water myself the water only stays hot for a couple minutes must be turned off to get more hot in a few minutes I'm over and over rinse and repeat

Two handle shower vale’s are not code compliant! You should warn people about this. They are not protected from scalding or thermal shock with a two handle shower valve or tub filler.
With a two handle shower and an ultra-low-flow shower head, hot water can cross over through the shower valve while it’s flowing, when someone else in the building uses cold water causing the cold water pressure to drop. Hot water will cross over scalding the bather with full hot water temperature and flow through the cold water pipes to other bathers or other fixtures causing scald hazards elsewhere in the system. My shower has two faucets. It is piped backwards. Can they cross the pipes when my shower is being renovated?

My setup: I have a shower stall with no lower spout. Just the spout for the shower head.
My problem:
I only get the cold water from my single control valve when a shower head is connected to the spout. If no shower head is installed, only hot water comes out of the spout when the single control valve is turned all the way to "Hot" (counter clockwise until it stops). Likewise, only cold water comes out of the spout when no shower head is installed and the single control valve is turned to "Cold" position (90 degrees from "close" position).
How do I resolve this problem? Thanks

What if you don't have a mixing shower and two separate handles and hot water coming out of cold handle?
My hot and cold water are separate and they don't mix at all. I can't get warm water. It's either all hot or when I crack open the cold then it becomes all cold.
I have problem ? In my bath tub/ shower even I shut of cold valve leave only hot foset open first come hot then temp drop in water to very cold water.In my apartment boiler heat up water then go to hot water storage tank .that supply hot water to apartment.so what problem?
2-knob won't cause it, but what about a 3-knob? (Hot, Cold, and Pressure)
I have turned off all the valves to sinks and toilets. I removed ALL of the mix vale cartridges and turned on the main to just a trickle. The water heater valves were all off. On the shower on the first floor with no cartridge, water came out of both sides of the valve - hot and cold. The only thing i can imagine is that some of the pipes are connected inside the walls. I can't imagine why and i dont know how to find out where. the walls are all cinder block and the pipes are all PVC. how do i find the problem?

Residential is different then commercial like in restuarants ect
None of the water in my house gets hotter than 99 degrees and I’m told it’s probably a crossover issue. They said it could one faucet causing issue in the whole house.
I need to know why hot water is coming out of my well.
I would call a local plumber to at least ascertain if its a common area issue or your unit.
then if they find that it is a common area issue i would send that report to your HOA management company.
I have built a single family home, just moved in and found out that the water from one hose bib is coming out hot water. We noticed that one of us would shower and have hot water, then there would be no hot water. Then for days ( when we did not water sod) we had hot water. We figured it out when we were watering plants ect. and my wife went to wash dishes and - no hot water. It had us baffled, but it hit me like a ton of bricks. My plumber has not returned my call. Does this seem as drastic a problem as I am thinking (lawsuit, jackhammers, holes in walls and plaster everywhere ?)

Do you have your own water heater and own main water shut off valve? if yes, then its your unit.
If not, then for sure coming from other units.
Did the building recently have a water shut down?
@@TwinHomeExperts I'm not sure? I know there's something in our front closet, a box of some sort that I'm fairly sure I recall had something to do with hot water? But I also know other units have mentioned having a similar issue. We've lived here for 2.5 years and we've always had issues with the water temperature. It's worse in the summer, but almost every time I turn on a sink, especially the kitchen sink, I typically need to let the water run for at least a minute to balance the temperature. The "cold water" comes out HOT, and if I turn it to the hot side it's freezing, but not as long as the cold side stays hot if that makes sense?
