Tomley, props to you. I'm a massive RC4WD fan (apart from their faffy way of getting the body on and off) but I also massively appreciate your honesty with how you found the truck and the quality of it despite it presumably being sent to you graciously by them. Some would sing their praises just because of that fact, but it's much more endearing to not. Makes you and your chanel a much more trustworthy source! 👍
The shocks might feel a little bouncy because the first spring is soft for flexibility and the 2nd is for impact/weight to prevent bottoming out when you take a jump. I don't know why ALL race off road vehicles or trail trucks don't have them. KT has an issue with his raminator bottoming out, bending shocks because he's using the shock instead of springs to carry the load. Shocks are ONLY supposed to dampen the spring action. The springs are supposed to carry the weight of the vehicle. Most passenger vehicles and light trucks ALL have dual rate springs. Take a look: loose/few windings at the bottom then they get closer together at the top....that's so when heavy aunt bessie gets on board you don't bottom out the suspension lol.....
A great looking truck, and a really nicely considered review. Good and bad, is always good to hear. Love the colour combo, with your green over the stock grey body. Really nice. 😎🤘🏻
Sitting here reading all the Traxxial fans get upset cause this isn’t a plastic piece of crap with portals. Love it!!! I’d take this thing on blocks before I’d ever own another plastic fantastic Traxxial garbage.
I love my c2x, I bought the bed, shock mounts and sliders from ierc and swapped the axles for Capra portals and Dlux fab shocks and it is an absolute beast. Probably my favorite rig that I own.
I love the C2X, but only after I switched the electronics over to a Momba Micro X2 and a Holmes stubby 2200kv and a Reefs Raw 500 servo. I swapped the shocks over to Proline Scaler 90mm and the tires to the Proline Krawlers in predator compound wrapped around aluminum beadlocks. I added the Scalerfab winch front bumper with an RC4WD winch and it is one of my favorite trucks now.
There's another reason I've been a loyal follower of this channel and that's that I really enjoy your taste in music. It's rare I don't enjoy the accompaniment. Is bass guitar 'your' instrument, Phil? (old hand guitarist, here)
This is an excellent review. Your team colors looked good, I don't know much about crawling, but that pin about ready to fall out would be the biggest problem in my opinion. It's a very good looking rig.
It’s hard to find a clean Toyota truck here in Iowa too. They all turned into rust here in the Midwest because of salt on the roads in the winter.. I’d love to have an 80’s hi lux lifted with 33’s on it.
I find with RC4WD products you need to go over all the hardware and make sure it’s tight. I have the Marlin crawler and straight out of the gate upgraded the steering servo and ESC. Their leaf spring kits are super scale but need mods straight out of the box to perform. Get used to losing those corner lenses. I’ve replaced both sides and even glued them in and still lost another one! Cheers!
I thinks its a good fun starting point but maybe for UK Class 1, would just need 4.19 tires and maybe a better servo then you are good to go - was a good day out too, thanks for the invite.
You've got to have a trip to Australia. I could walk 5 minutes down the street and find one of those hiluxes easily. It's quite funny how hard it is to get hiluxes everywhere except here. It's interesting how these rc4wd cars still run on nimh batteries.
If you don't shim the gears in the axles they will go bang very quickly, also you will need to helicoil the steering hubs they strip very easily. But other than that its not a bad rig at all
if you use grub screws in the body mount you can just stretch the body over them instead of unscrewing the screws all the time, Rc4wd don't know what loctite is so be prepared for a lot of loose screws.
Really honest review, i dont think its worth the 499. If you save up for that (whatever age you are) open it and find rust and easily catchable quality control failures, it would make me doubt the quality of the things i cant see.
Nice video Phil, thanks! 👍 🙏 I'm not sure how much "300oz/in" stands for in kg, but the servo may not be the main culprit for the weak steering. I believe the Hobbywing 1060 can't offer high voltage BEC, so a different ESC may be able to use the servo's full power..:)
If the current price I’d 499, then I’d rather get a TRX4. More features and portal axles from factory. Even the trx4 sport is 100 cheaper and has portals. Anyway, thanks for the content Phil.
Thank you I had seen the box in the background in a previous video super happy for the review thank you I’ve been looking at this as my first RC4WD. I’m hoping to maybe see it on sale it was around the holidays it’s kind of pricey would you say it was worth the $ overall. I’d definitely be replacing the electronics so that’s something to figure in.
Ya know ,, for straight out of the box it didn’t do too bad , I think with a few tweaks it could be decent, not sure if it’s just my eyes but I feel it could do with the chassis extending .
Stick Class 1 hyrax on it, and it would certainly do better in Class 1. Looks stunning, like the dual spring shock (shame about the oil situation) Ni-cad battery will also not hold up in comp, i am guessing 2s lipo wakes it up a bit. The Treal wheels look sweet and that extra low down weight will really help with the hard body. Really does remind me of "Brawn" my RGT ex86010 jk with a hard body swap.
Que tal amigo Phil...excelente crawler muy acertado en los colores verde/gris con unos mejores neumáticos seria más capaz en espera de un próximo video saludos desde México 👍
Hey there Phil, love the front two thirds but the rear bed leaves me wanting, I really don’t like that rear bed, imho it just looks silly 😜, i know it serves a purpose for competitions, buuuuutttttttt? Niiiiiiiiiiice old video Anyoldwho.😊
I think that for 500 thats too steep considering the changes that need to be made servo etc, looks great just not as much bang for the buck as id like, id prob choose another model
HEY PHIL. GREAT VIDEO. I'VE NEVER SEEN THIS ONE. LOOK'S GREAT. PERFORM'S GOOD. WITH A LITTLE LOVE. IT CAN BE A REAL COMPETITOR. I LOVE THE REALLY CHILL MUSIC. IT SOUND'S LIKE GOERGE BENSON. KEEP UP THE GREAT REVIEW'S.👍
I'm looking for something to exercise my dogs, going to be a field so there is a few rocks and could be tall grass. Never owned a RC that's not complete garbage... Any suggestions? Budget maybe £500 but if I don't have to spend that much I'm happier :) Thanks.
Buy a WPL for $60 a never worry about the hardbody , and get 5x as much fun for the money. and then after you thrashed it you can spend hobby class money for upgrades into a metal comp crawler. and for the price of this thing? you can do it 3 times over and still have enough money left for lunch at a steakhouse
Thanks dude. I try to be fair… but will never cover up and issues.
Tomley's channel just keeps growing, remember i was here from the very beginning!!
😎🤘
It looks cool with the flat gray and green colors! Those colors are made to match up!
Really like it,these things look great on the trails as a scale truck, oh and bad weather is the best weather for crawling/trailing 😀😀👌👌👍
Yes, although not got on rocks… they get a bit slippery 😅
The shocks might feel a little bouncy because the first spring is soft for flexibility and the 2nd is for impact/weight to prevent bottoming out when you take a jump.
I don't know why ALL race off road vehicles or trail trucks don't have them.

Good info 👌
So cute. Little men playing with their kids toys.
So cute, little men commenting on a video of little men playing with their kids toys 😍
A great looking truck, and a really nicely considered review. Good and bad, is always good to hear. Love the colour combo, with your green over the stock grey body. Really nice. 😎🤘🏻
Yes, turned out nice. Not the best performer… but looks really nice and scale and does ‘okay’
Perfect lunch break vid while students were away. Cheers
Sitting here reading all the Traxxial fans get upset cause this isn’t a plastic piece of crap with portals. Love it!!!
I’d take this thing on blocks before I’d ever own another plastic fantastic Traxxial garbage.
Some of the hardcore Traxxas fans are pretty hard to convince 😅
I love your crawler videos. Always learning something from them.
Cheers dude
I love my c2x, I bought the bed, shock mounts and sliders from ierc and swapped the axles for Capra portals and Dlux fab shocks and it is an absolute beast. Probably my favorite rig that I own.
Hi Phil I have the Marlin crawler (🙏🏻RIP)This Company make great trucks parts/ upgrades. Thanks for posting Phil AMAZING QUALITY Company 🇬🇧🇺🇲🕊️✌🏼👍🏼
Yes.. RIP indeed. There quality control seems an issue… but they certainly make some awesome looking rigs
I love the C2X, but only after I switched the electronics over to a Momba Micro X2 and a Holmes stubby 2200kv and a Reefs Raw 500 servo. Pretty nice looking truck indeed, Phil! 😃
Fantastic ride and review!!!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thanks dude.
The green wheels look great on there with the green stripes
😎🤘
Excellent overview, it certainly looks the part...few points to consider as you clearly mention, great video 👍🏻
I KNEW IT, I spotted it on your bench in a previous video. I've been looking at these as my next crawler
Nice new crawler Tomley!!
It's a Toyota! of course it's rusty already.. lol! Beautiful truck and great video!
Haha
There's another reason I've been a loyal follower of this channel and that's that I really enjoy your taste in music. It's rare I don't enjoy the accompaniment. Is bass guitar 'your' instrument, Phil? (old hand guitarist, here)
This is an excellent review. Your team colors looked good, I don't know much about crawling, but that pin about ready to fall out would be the biggest problem in my opinion. It's a very good looking rig.
If that pin had come out on the rocks… it’s the end of your day out… so yeah, not great
Nice looking truck, good job Phil.
Great looking truck but quite expensive compared to a lot other stuff on the market.great review as always mate
Haven’t even watched the video but I like that crawler!!
😎👌
There is a learning curve to rc4wd crawlers. But you end loving them for sure. My TF2 is not the most capable but the most enjoyable in my fleet…
As a dealer I can honestly say the C2x is a real allrounder!
cmon you could have a arrma granite and a rlarrlo ak 787 and a batterie for what they want for this truck lol
@mikeeklund18 who gives.. it's always your own likings.
One thing for sure, this thing looks awesome 👌 especially when you added some green.
Looks like a Wild Willy figure driving it. Looks awesome.
5:21 the stripe is SO 80's toyota.......very retro look there phil!!
Because of you (and my local Hobby Shop having one in stock) I bought an Element BUSHIDO after watching this video and seeing that clip again 😂
Stickers were perfect 😂👍🏻
Another great fun and useful piece of content. Thank you
Cheers Chris
Nice work Phil, looks ok. Do find RC4WD expensive..
I have several of their trucks and love the scale looks- great review as always Phil!
It’s hard to find a clean Toyota truck here in Iowa too. They all turned into rust here in the Midwest because of salt on the roads in the winter.. I’d love to have an 80’s hi lux lifted with 33’s on it.
Well… shortly after this video… I may have found something. You’ll have to wait and see 😎
I find with RC4WD products you need to go over all the hardware and make sure it’s tight. I have the Marlin crawler and straight out of the gate upgraded the steering servo and ESC. That's looks absolutely mint..👍🇬🇧😎
love this rig!!
I thinks its a good fun starting point but maybe for UK Class 1, would just need 4.19 tires and maybe a better servo then you are good to go - was a good day out too, thanks for the invite.
Yes agree… not really going to be competitive, but looks good 😅
Truck looks sick bro
awesome video,Love what you did with the body.
Cheers mate… came out nice! Although got scratched pretty quick on them rocks lol
Maybe you could do a video on what makes a Comp 2 or Comp 1 vehicle?
It’s about tire/wheel size, and how far the wheels stick outside of the fenders basically.
Good vid as always. It does look cool. It may not be an issue, but I don't like those open gears. Muggins here would be bound to get crap in there.
They’ve been using that design for over 10 years now… I’ve owned probably 20+ of their trucks and never had a single gear fail. They’re pretty stout
You've got to have a trip to Australia. I could walk 5 minutes down the street and find one of those hiluxes easily. It's quite funny how hard it is to get hiluxes everywhere except here. It's interesting how these rc4wd cars still run on nimh batteries.
Visiting Australia will help with identifying the "what ever that one is" power adapter too 😆
Some nice creeping and crawling there m8
Interesting review I have not been a fan of the metal of RC4WD but they look nice. And good morning/afternoon from Indiana
Yes, nice looking… just lacking a touch in performance
If you don't shim the gears in the axles they will go bang very quickly, also you will need to helicoil the steering hubs they strip very easily.

Love the body on that truck.

They have seen the video… let’s hope they try and make it better
Lcg Capra Axel's ☠️🏴☠️ ROCK PIRATES build my favourite and most capable truck 🤩✌🏼
As with any Rc4wd best to strip it down and thread lock every bolt and grease the diffs
Nice video Phil, thanks! 👍 🙏
I'm not sure how much "300oz/in" stands for in kg, but the servo may not be the main culprit for the weak steering. I believe the Hobbywing 1060 can't offer high voltage BEC, so a different ESC may be able to use the servo's full power..:)
Australia plug
You could import a Hilux from Australia right hand drive here to !!
Great videos always watching 🦘⛱️☀️
That transmitter looks like a Team Associated.
If the current price I’d 499, then I’d rather get a TRX4. More features and portal axles from factory. Even the trx4 sport is 100 cheaper and has portals. Anyway, thanks for the content Phil.
That second plug is an Australian power outlet adapter fyi.
My crew affectionately refer to them as RC3WD😂😂😂
😅
Thank you I had seen the box in the background in a previous video super happy for the review thank you I’ve been looking at this as my first RC4WD. I’m hoping to maybe see it on sale it was around the holidays it’s kind of pricey would you say it was worth the $ overall. Ya know ,, for straight out of the box it didn’t do too bad , I think with a few tweaks it could be decent, not sure if it’s just my eyes but I feel it could do with the chassis extending .
Second plug was Australian 😃
Or mainland China, same layout.
We had snow here lol fuck its been pissin down here so bad southwest im thinking about a boat or hovercraft nxt purchase 😂😂
Have you tried out the Vanquish RTR yet? Similar price point but seems better...
thats a crazy cool truck!
Look great 🎉
Just WOW. When you spend almost $500 on a truck you should at least expect it to have a LiPo
If you want a Hilux get them from New Zealand rather than Japan. They were built here and we have way more. Also that plug is an NZ/ AU one.
man i wish i had more money, this looks so cool
Better foams in tires would help.
Definitely a cool looking truck Phil, but for the money, build quality would be
the issue for me 😏
Yeah… it’s not really what you should be getting out the box
Nice review, as usual. Please fix the MT10 it look sad hanging there broken 😉
Stick Class 1 hyrax on it, and it would certainly do better in Class 1.
Looks stunning, like the dual spring shock (shame about the oil situation)
Ni-cad battery will also not hold up in comp, i am guessing 2s lipo wakes it up a bit.
The Treal wheels look sweet and that extra low down weight will really help with the hard body.
Really does remind me of "Brawn" my RGT ex86010 jk with a hard body swap.
It was running a Lipo in the video. Needs work.. bit looks good
@@TomleyRC i thought you would be running a lipo, sorry i wasn't able to come out and join you !
amazing crawler bro
That second plug adaptor was Australian or mainland China.
Anything rc4wd take out every screw you can and put loctite on them and lenses need to be glued in
Nice rig.Good to have options that are not 600-800
Que tal amigo Phil...excelente crawler muy acertado en los colores verde/gris con unos mejores neumáticos seria más capaz en espera de un próximo video saludos desde México 👍
Will that body fit on a trx4 and can u buy just the body that body is dope man
Nice👍👍😁😁
Hi Phil, cool crawler and cool video! What do you think about the element ecto🤔 cheers to you 🍻
I've only got one 1/10 crawler. The others are 1/24. I'm looking for other bigger ones. Will this be the one? Let's find out.
Ooooo like these videos 🎉 love a toyota 🎉
I think that for 500 thats too steep considering the changes that need to be made servo etc, looks great just not as much bang for the buck as id like, id prob choose another model
Are gas powered RC trucks still a thing? Some times I really miss my old stadium truck. HPI Nitro MT. Never should have sold it...
Howdy! What is the motorcycle at the beginning of your video?
Looks great but in my experience those axels are not very strong. Especially the steering knuckles
The D44s? They’re fine. Sure not like “AR44” axials stuff(crap)… but decent enough to run.
Is this the same rig that was released 3 years ago? Because it needed serious modifications to functhen well as a class 2 rig
Yes it is…. And I agree. Although it doesn’t say anywhere is a capable class 2 lol
8:40 "we used to call em Indian Underwear". Why? creeping up your behind! lol
😅
HEY PHIL. GREAT VIDEO. I'VE NEVER SEEN THIS ONE. LOOK'S GREAT. PERFORM'S GOOD. WITH A LITTLE LOVE. IT CAN BE A REAL COMPETITOR. I LOVE THE REALLY CHILL MUSIC. IT SOUND'S LIKE GOERGE BENSON. KEEP UP THE GREAT REVIEW'S.👍
Pill looks like you go an old stock truck . Back when that was manufactured it was probably a decent Servo back then but now probably crap
Yeah, it’s a few years old… but it was struggling on them rocks.
I'm looking for something to exercise my dogs, going to be a field so there is a few rocks and could be tall grass. Never owned a RC that's not complete garbage... Any suggestions? Budget maybe £500 but if I don't have to spend that much I'm happier :) Thanks.
Might have been better with the truck bed in the rear not the scx10 look rear end.
Looks great but it seems like it should cost 329.00ish👍
You need to make a leroy or mullet for cleetus mcfarland.
😎🤘
Im watching this 6 months later and this was my dream truck but the price is £680 now and that is way to expensive its a shame as its $499 in America
Haha I was going to say that the steering is definitely on the wrong side... :D
This and a WPL are not really a comparison
liked the music in this one, relaxing. decent truck but weak bec on the esc combined with a crap servo makes this a crappy rtr
The "whatever that 1 is" is a aus/nz plug. I dunno why I'm bothering to write this out but anyway 😂
I love that
