    Just one thing from experience - don’t unhook your chains that are attached to your truck until after you unhitch. Very important. One time we were chocked and we unhitched on an incline and the chocks flew out suddenly and the only thing that saved the camper from rolling down the hill literally was the chains that suddenly were super taut hooked to the truck and thankfully holding the camper in place. We about had a heart attack. Lol. So be sure to remove the chains last. ;)

    Two suggestions for you. Get the 15 foot extension cable for the Zant panels. It gives you much more flexibility in placement. Second look at the level mate pro. You monitor your level from your phone. This allows you to drive the car and move the trailer to find the most level spot without constantly checking the level inside the camper. Safe travels.

    I used a small level like yours but I also made sure that the floor was level with the fridge. Maybe that isn't so critical if the fridge is a compressor unit rather than an absorption until. Anyway.... nice video of step by step how you pick a site, and how you set up. Glad you are still enjoying the outdoors and that Jasper and Napoleon are doing well. Until next time... Travel Safe.

    Cass I would love to see a video on overall maintenance and possibly a second video on what extra costs are associated with owning an rv. I am a tent camper of decades of camping, however I am single with a service dog. I am now 63 and looking into buying my first rv but I am balking so far. Another thing for me is backing with an rv. I back my truck into my garage nightly but understanding that the trailer goes the opposite direction I am a little skidfish of trying this only having some small military trailers experience. I love you videos so if you can find the time to do some or all of these videos I wild sincerely appreciate it. Especially since the basecamp was my first choice and a Lance 1685 my second

    • @TailsofWanderlust
      @TailsofWanderlust  2 года назад

      Hi Diane! Here’s the video I did on the maintenance. As for backing that just takes time and practice. Took me many parking lots, trial and error, and about 6 months to be comfortable with that. Sadly never did a video on the backing up portion.

    I am kind of surprised that Airstream does not put levels on the outside of their trailers. My Casita comes with 2, one on the front for side to side and one near the door for fore and aft. They make it pretty easy for a solo camper to hop in and out of the tow vehicle while setting up quickly while still alone. I appreciate them all the more when: I am tired, it is getting dark or it is raining/ snowing. I looked at that ravine you had to go over, although we can't really tell without being there and I wondered if my drain lines would clear. It is only sane to worry about ripping out your trailer's plumbing lines. I admire your respect for the proximity to your neighbors. If only everyone was so considerate. Camp on! Just curious: are you worried if Napoleon might run off? I know Jasper won't.

    • @TailsofWanderlust
      @TailsofWanderlust  2 года назад

      So nice that you have the outside levels! Not sure if the bigger Airstreams have them, but the Basecamp could really use a few. Napoleon is usually leashed up as well, but since he was just coming out of the camper I had to go chase him down to leash him. Thanks for watching!
