Smart young lady. Enjoyed your video. My wife and I sold everything and travelled full time in a 36 foot motorhome for nine years then the last 12 years traveling 1/2 time +/- . “May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind always be at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, and rains fall soft upon your fields. May God hold you in the palm of His hand.”
Thank you for your Airstream Base Camp story. We're ( my wife is) trying to teach her new cat the ins & outs of a harness so we can take the cat in our truck and 27' / 2007 Trailite Travel trailer. Up to the RV park where we store and use our trailer. Not sure if we will take it out on the road part time or full time , we're still deciding. The rona put a big roadblock in our plans. But we do love the Airstream! And we want to go look at a Base Camp! I'm 5 ' 11" , can I get a good shower in a Base Camp? Thank you! We're looking forward to your next Q n A.. . ......hopefully us & our dog & cat can say Hi! On the road!
@@artmurphy4991 Hi Art! You definitely will be able to use the shower comfortably. My boyfriend is 6' and he does come camping with me at times. Safe travels to you!
Did the full-time thing for a couple of years in a class A. Was great for awhile, did a lot of traveling but missed the home base. Living day to day in an RV can get a bit much believe it or not. Having a nice home base in an area you enjoy AND the RV to vacation/travel/explore in is honestly the best of both worlds if you can swing it.
Thank you for revealing. Most of us don’t like to publish our learning curve like you have. So we think everyone else is so much smarter. But we just need to dive in and accept our errors as the cost of living the dream.
Your life seems very interesting and fulfilling. Napoleon and Jasper seems very happy, both are gorgeous,( especially the baby pictures, melted my heart!)
i lived in my van for 5 months (by choice) and it was one of the most spiritually nurturing times in my life... it really simplified things. Work, eat, climbing gym, find a spot to park and sleep, repeat. I remember one of my favorite quirky memories of van life, was when i met up w/a bunch of friends for a camp trip. at the end of the camping weekend, i asked a friend what her plans were after the trip. she mentioned she was just going to go home and relax. She asked me what my plans were, and i realized, i didn't have a 'home' to go back to... lol my home was wherever i parked the van. there was something kind of 'freeing' about that moment, while at the same time, i felt the desire to be 'home.' The Lord was doing a work in my heart, to lead me to Jesus Christ!
If you buy a house and decide to move a few years later, you paid interest up front. Plus you were losing money from the fees and all that stuff that goes with buying a property.
The best to me is the Travato 59k because it’s not a big RV at all only like 20 feet long, but yet the layout is beautiful and you can park it anywhere. When you were pulling some thing you can’t go into any spot that you want. Plus the 59K has a battery system that you can run your air conditioner for eight hours on battery and leave your dog inside
If your in Florida ... you , jasper, and nepolean are welcome to visit my wife and I. No charge. We’re here for the winter months of November through April.
The Base Camp was a very wise choice, Airstream trailers are know for their intelligent design and their ruggedness. For decades people have been passing them on to their loved ones when they pass away. It was a good choice.
For all the people asking if it's worth investing into any type of home on wheels, I can tell you from personal experience that you can't put a price tag on the feeling that you get from traveling and waking up next to a lake, a river, a beach, a dense forest, a swamp or any city in the country that you choose. I used to travel with a large band and it was amazing, I would do it over and over again if given the chance...Congrats to you young traveler, may God bless you on your many journeys.
Awesome video. Would love to hear more about the challenges associated with travelling with a kitty. This is my plan for retirement in a few years. My kitties do well with my current camper but we are seasonal campers who don't travel around. Love Jasper and Napoleon! ❤️❤️🐾🐾
Hey Cass! Really enjoyed your Q & A video. Nice to hear about your past and how you got into your current lifestyle. Would love if you did more of these! Love how polished you and your channel are getting! Take Care...

Enjoy watching & listening to you, miss camping! We have had quite a few trailers, but we are older, I am 72 hubby is 80. Live in Colorado-snowbirds in Az house at both.Even have partnership in a Ranch in Wy. Yes we have it nice. But still miss that camping experience so now I enjoy seeing you, thank you, like how you are real, tell it like it is. Enjoy girl while your young!!
Very informative, Cass. Filled in some of the blanks about your life style and why you do what you do. And I like the cooking segments. And I like your dog. Reminds me I need to get a playmate for mine. Keep up the good work.
Your video touched me in two ways. Last August my wife and I purchased a TAG Boondock XL and our 13.5 year old GSD named Jasper (just like yours) got to go on two trips with us before he passed away in September. I'm glad you have such a wonderful dog like Jasper to share your adventures and I hope he has a long and happy life with you just like our Jasper. Cheers and happy travels.
Absolutely a fascinating lifestyle. Thank you for sharing/posting! Safe travels to the Wanderlust family! (Q&A should be a regular thing...just saying.)
Interesting channel Cass. I'm a semi retired engineer back working in a bike shop...my first love. My plan is to get a trailer like yours, pack the bikes up and take them to really cool places and use my base camp...as a base camp. 😁 So instead of bikepacking in a loop fashion, we could simply park, set up camp, and do one day rides in a spur fashion. The most important thing to note is we wouldn't be sleepin on the ground...yah! The Colorado Trail, Lake Tahoe, Grand Tetons, the Carolinas, Arkansas...you name it. And yes...you read that last one right. They have some righteous single-track! Anyway, I agree on the durability, reliability, and resale of top tier aluminum and fiberglass trailers. I can't wait! In the meantime I'll just be a RUclips sponge...so thanks.
Thanks for the q&a. Feels like I can relate more. Your analytical mind covers most of your bases. Reassuring to say the least. Your fur babies are doing so well. Stay safe. Blessings
Loved this Q&A and hearing about your motivations, struggles and ideas to how you got where you are today - I'm curious about the cost of gas/food/maintenance if you'd be comfortable sharing about that some time!
Hi I'm from Bradenton, Florida. My name is Garry. I noticed, when you got on your way, you had to put all your loose stuff on top, and put it on the bed. I used netting to cover all of my loose stuff. It would save a lot of time. It worked for me. You can get your netting from Amazon, or what I did, order from Walmart. Hape It works.for you. Garry. P.S.I love your shapard, and your kitty. I have one yorkie, two cats, male, and his sister, and 7 birds. God be with you.
Just saw this I did the RV life for 7 years, I miss it. Oh it loo s like from your photo you need a weight distribution hitch. Front end appears to be way to high for such a light trailer. safe travels.
Amazing that you did it for 7 years. And yes, this photo was prior to installing a new suspension + air bags, so that sag is no longer there. Thanks for watching!
Thanks so much for sharing ! What wonderful adventures you must have! Do you ever have trouble managing with Jasper and your Kitty while boondocking ? I know during road trips in my car I have worried about keeping them cool if I have to leave the car. Do you run your AC on a generator or are you just in temperate climates ?
Yes on the Cabin. We bought a small cabin in the Georgia mountains and love it. River right in front. We use it to escape Florida summers where We have a Condo. I winter We are often on the Sailboat. Also work remotely for 10+ years now.
Yeah, buy new one good idea but some of us cant afford a newer one. Guess that is why so many people living in tents now (homeless)- Its different if u just RV for fun VS because u cant afford rent.
I was wondering the same thing, I am thinking of buying a vintage C class and renovating it but if it breaks down there goes your home. Lots of things to think about.
I just came across this video. Good for you. I used to travel with my dog, Rex. He was a border collie mix. And later adopted Wilson. Rex was 65 pounds and Wilson 90 pounds. I was never worried about problems. My "guys" kept an eye on me, and loved every minute of it. I am so excited to find your channel. It is amazing traveling and exploring. I feel much safer out in the boonies than in town. ........I lost on a Campervan also....LOL I traveled in a 1993 Chevy G-20 Van for several years as a weekend warrior. I purchased an old 2000 Dodge van buidling out currently from scratch. And an old Avion (this will be a later project). Spent last 2 years getting out of debt. (Now I am debt free except my home mortgage). Look forward to travel DEBT FREE in 2021. Looking forward to more on your channel.
Really enjoyed your video. A lot of good info there. Totally agree with you on finding a RV that did not look like it was designed in 1985. My wife and I have a Intech Sol Eclipse which is very similar to your Airstream in a lot of ways. Keep up the great work and stay safe.
So glad i found you! I have a cat, 5 yrs old and I just adopted a puppy for my weekend warrior companion. I kept trying to tell myself i want crazy for having two of as a single woman. We live in Austin and I'm moving to NC with them! 😂
You are an inspiration! Thank you for sharing your story. I absolutely love my Airstream. I have a 2021 Classic, we pulled it from Maryland to Texas and back. It was a great adventure.
the Q&A session was very interesting and helpful! I am thinking about getting some land as well.. while I am not a full timer, I have had one heckuva time getting campsites this past year.. I know some of the interest in camping will subside after Covid, but percentage of it will not.
We compared the Basecamp and the Tab 400 and went with the Tab mainly because of the storage and wardrobe closet. Tab also has radiant heat which is great.
I am full time in a Class A Motorhome. I had a 37' Bounder for many years living in it full time but traveling part time. Now I am in a smaller 27' Class A Motorhome. I have no desire for any cabin, sticks and bricks or home base as my budget would not allow for that anyway. I do spend a month or two visiting family and staying on my daughter's 30 amp hookup in her backyard. Always feel good when all visits to Doctors, friends and family are completed and I am ready to hit the road again. Have many camping friends around the country and enjoy both the social times and my alone times.
That's great that you've found a balance of solo and group travel. RV living really provides such flexibility and options. Love that you have found your groove! Keep on traveling safely.
Thank you for sharing your story. I've wanted to live the nomadic lifestyle ever since I retired from the Air Force 34 years ago. Life has a way of altering one's plans. As I started to plan my travels I was offered a job in Maui. My plans to travel on the road were temporarily shelved. When an emotional commitment is completed (caregiving) I will hit the road and travel throughout the lower 48, Canada and Alaska in my converted van.
Sounds like life gave you the opportunity to enjoy a state not many people get to visit. Hope you are enjoying Hawaii while you are there, and when you are able to travel N. America, I'm sure you will find some amazing places.
A tale of caution, be careful when towing a single axle trailer as a flat tire at speeds over 30mph can have dire consequences. This applies to all single axle trailers.
Great video. You definitely did your research. I think at the time you purchased your Air Stream, nuCamp had not released the t@b 400 boon dock model. We purchased the t@b 320 css and did four trips and knew it wasn't going to work. We either had to have the bed made or the table set up. If we set the table up, the linen etc. had to be stored in the bathroom. The bathroom was VERY SMALL. Fortunately, when we made the decision to sell the 320, nuCamp reached out and said the 400 BDL was available. Huge difference and for us the key things were - bed could stay made as the 400 had a two person dinette in front (yea), the wet bath was much larger (we've since removed the pull down sink and it gives us even more room. We just use the kitchen sink right across from the bathroom for washing), two burners plus a microwave and the fridge runs off propane, electric, or DC. The larger tires give us more clearance when off pavement driving. Lastly, the weight was just right. The t@b 400 BDL weighs in about 3200lbs but we average about 3300 but we run with our tanks dry. If we fill our fresh water tank, we add 250lbs, so still easily within the tow capacity of our Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk. We have add a second TV to our inventory; a Ford F-150 4x4 (V8) and it has no issues towing the t@b. What we like about the Ford is we have room for our two RAD powerbikes, normal camping stuff like outdoor grill, chairs, mats, awning, that sort of thing. We also carry a 50qt ARB with an additional lithimum power cell for our extra food. With the ARB we can purchase enough food for two for two-weeks easily. Great video and good info for anyone considering purchasing any sort of RV. Travel safe
Thanks really appreciate that! Interesting on your findings on the CSS, since I had looked at that as well. Based on what you outlined and the lower shower, I don't think I would have made it this long in that.
I'm so glad I found you! I purchased a Winnebago Class C 3 months ago to live in full time. I'm disabled and spend days on end in bed in pain, so about 6 months ago I decided that if I'm going to be in bed unable to go anywhere, why not move my bed? On the days when I can drive, I will (post Covid of course), and on the days when I can't, at least the view outside my bedroom window changes😊 So I sold my condo, packed up my cat, and we are on the road, (well, mostly my mother's driveway until Covid let's me visit friends and family outside of my bubble🙄) I think I've already decided to sell my Class C and swap it for either a Class B or a small trailer; the Class C is only 25 feet, but it still feels too big. Anyway, I look forward to following your journey and learning lots! Thank you so much💗
Hi Michelle! It is so good to virtually meet you. I love your perspective and how you are taking a leap to enjoy life. Staying in your mom's driveway is a great way to start and learn the ins and outs of living in a RV before heading out on travels. I wish you amazing journeys in the future, and maybe someday I'll run into you out on the road!
Very encouraging to hear how you changed your plans along the way, and learn as you go what you want what works best for you. Very good advice here and very encouraging. Thank you and I look forward to watching more!
Very nice job. From a former TV writer-producer, your narration and presentation is very professional. Okay, pleasantries aside: I have a few questions regarding your solar package. You have two panels on the roof and added the additional ground panels. What wattage do all panels now pull? Do you find the upgraded items excessive, just right or just making it, for your power needs? Based on many of your narratives, I assume your father helped you with the install of upgrades... Did you find it intimidating? Moving on, I really want to know more about the weBoost (sp) system. It's something I want, but know little about. And the apps you mentioned in your travels for a new refrigerator. More attention to the different apps available would be helpful. Maybe it's own video.... And finally, I enjoyed the cooking segment. Making fried rice and mixing it up does make for a weeks worth of great meals. But I kept waiting for you to remove that dogie bag from the smoke detector... Otherwise, good concept and worth more production time.
Thank you very much for that! The deployable are 160W and rooftop are 180W for a total of 340W. For living full time and working full time, I find it just what I need. However, if I didn't have one or the other (not having to run a laptop all day or not living full-time) it may be more than I really need. My father helped me with the 12V install, and it was intimidating until he showed me as I didn't have much experience in electrical. When it came to the full lithium upgrade I did hire someone for that. As for the ideas for future videos, I've added a bunch to my list thank you for the ideas! I do have an internet video out right now which does go over the WeBoost a bit more. Thanks for watching!
Your pets are beautiful! We recently adopted a 3rd husky. She was homeless , sick and needed help. And she was pregnant. The puppies (7 total) turned 10 weeks yesterday. They are in wonderful forever homes, now Millie momma can get well and adjust to her new brother and sister. Dakota & Pearl. We will be Rving some with our huskies. They have a RUclips channel, we are hoping to one day be able to make money on the channel and use it to help animals in need. Hopefully be able to do more rescues. And help start a catch and release program. Also help with fees do people who need emotional support dogs can get them without the high adoption fees. There seems to be an even greater need in the animal community since the big C. If we see you on the road with your precious babies we will say hello. Stay safe out there. Leslye
this is so inspiring. The "situation" has really kindled the fire for my wunderlust and I just wanna get in my corolla and adventure. LOL on the corolla. This video is great. My question....What has been your most reliable reststop/truck/gas station/ walmart to stay at while on the road?
My most reliable stay is Cracker Barrel’s. I’ve always felt safe. They have always been in nice shopping centers. And I love being able to get food after a long drive.
Shed to home. Gotten into this as an economic alternative to high cost home home. Plus, I like the smaller home. A 1 bedroom with an office nook with an overall size of approximately 500 sq ft is not a common home in the US. Especially if your bf is good with woodworking, and you’re young and healthy enough to do a lot of the work yourself. A cute little house for 30k. 😃
That is a great idea! We’ve talked about that and looked at a few. It’s just that land is much harder to finance than a home, so it’ll depend on what comes along. Thanks for the comment!
Don't see why you have a boy friend.i traveled alot on camping and seeing and meeting new people for off on on 5 yrs.work awhile save money then take off and having a girl friend was not a option to worry about.had friends to travel with that were female, but no emotion commitment.this was 70s 80 s.lot different then, but enjoy your life while young it passes fast,be careful this world is really dangerous now.no way I do the things now I did then in my van.
I truly believe a girls best friend is her dog, I know mine are!! Jasper is adorable, he looks at you with such love - I have 3 dogs, 2 Choc labs ( will be 13 in June) & a rescue minature pincher ( 3 yrs old) & a 13 yr old orange kitty. I’ve often thought of selling my home & hitting the road, but Choc labs are too old for traveling. Have fun & be safe, I’m sure Jasper would protect you with his life!! 🔅🔆🌠🔅🔆🌠
Your whole demeanor is so refreshing and inspiring. Your my kind of people. I would be proud to have a daughter like you. Love your channel and looking forward to you next adventure. At first I didn’t care very much for the basecamp but they do grow on you after a white. The two things I wish they had is a black water tank and a closet.other than that I appreciate the diversity the basecamp has to offer as a camper , a toy hauler and a utility trailer. I could see myself in something like this . Only wish the price was lower. So Be careful, stay safe and keep on rolling.
Since you live on the road, and your suv pulls your mini rv all the time, you should put bags on the suv springs. It will save you lots of money on shocks and springs. All you gotta do is keep it inflated so it takes the weight from the springs.
@@TailsofWanderlust nope. I'm not talking about the air lift kit. What I'm suggesting is a lot cheaper. Like 80 for the two bags. They go in between the rear springs. It aleviates the pressure from too much weight on the springs. The air lift is expensive.
Hi, I am a 15 y/o in high school rn and I feel like I want to live the life you are currently living. I'm just curious but what jobs do you have or did have? and Did you save a lot of money? Thank you if you see this.
Hi Andrew! I am a Process Consultant. My job was a remote role and then I worked with my company to be able to travel while I work remotely. There are resources out there you can use to research available jobs. Check out the Escapees/Xscapers website as a good place to start.

Thank you so much! Love that your Jasper had such a long and happy life. Hope you still get out to enjoy that T@G!
Absolutely a fascinating lifestyle. Thank you for sharing/posting! Safe travels to the Wanderlust family! (Q&A should be a regular thing...just saying.)
Thanks for the feedback! Glad you enjoyed the Q&A format!
A relaxed Jasper really adds to your great q & a video ...thanks
Love hearing that, thanks for watching Frank!
minimal living ain't for everyone. people love there junk. good for you. keep up the great content
Definitely not for everyone. Thanks for watching!
I have a Coleman Clipper RV trailer that I pull with my 4Runner. Has a toilet, shower, big bed. Love it.
That sounds like a great setup. Hope you are enjoying it Diane!
So glad to see you doing more vids!
Thanks Kevin! Wouldn't have started if it wasn't for the one we did together, so appreciate the push to join RUclips!
Your future travel plans sound amazing Charlie! I hope you enjoy when you can hit the road!
I am a single female and would love to travel and go see things. My concern is taking my dog with me everywhere. She is my side kick.
They make amazing travel companions!
My concern is extreme temps - both cold and hot - for the animals when you leave them in the camper. How do you handle this?

Great story and I know this isn't an Airstream commercial but I hope they are paying you for the great endorsement

Thanks Vicki, really appreciate that.
SO cool with Jasper and Napoleon! Your adventure spirit is inpiring with your own rv travel! Basecamp!
Appreciate that, thank you very much for watching Marianne!
You made such a smart choice your vehicle and airstream is extremely reliable and dependable for full time living
Thank you! Appreciate you checking out the video.
I love Jasper's floppy ear! So cute! :)
Haha yea it gives him a lot of personality! Thanks for watching!
I love the style and design of the Basecamp. Super cool to see one getting so much use! Love it paired with the 4Runner too.
They definitely make a good combo. Thanks for watching Tom!
Loved this Q&A and hearing about your motivations, struggles and ideas to how you got where you are today - I'm curious about the cost of gas/food/maintenance if you'd be comfortable sharing about that some time!
Will do!! I can absolutely work on a video around that. Thanks for watching!

Hi Garry! That's a really good tip on the netting thank you. Hope you and all the animals are doing well!
I love my Basecamp but think I would need a bigger rig to go full time....but I’m quite a lot older than you. Stay safe and enjoy your travels! 😎
Hope you are enjoying your BC for now! Thanks for watching!
Love the panoramic windows that surround the kitchen.
Definitely one of the best features. Thanks for watching David!
Good for you on getting the Basecamp at a good price! 😁

Sounds like an amazing cabin! Glad you have one you can escape to.
Best thing is stay away from old rvs/vans,,, engines get old... buy a Truck, or jeep or suv new and then a camper,,, just like you did,,,
The ease of use of a new RV is a really great benefit of it.
Yeah, buy new one good idea but some of us cant afford a newer one. Guess that is why so many people living in tents now (homeless)- Its different if u just RV for fun VS because u cant afford rent.
@@Blubirdmoon111 that’s why?
I was wondering the same thing, I am thinking of buying a vintage C class and renovating it but if it breaks down there goes your home. Lots of things to think about.
Thx for your imput
Thanks for watching Kim! I wish you amazing travels in 2021!
Really enjoyed your video. A lot of good info there. Totally agree with you on finding a RV that did not look like it was designed in 1985. My wife and I have a Intech Sol Eclipse which is very similar to your Airstream in a lot of ways. Keep up the great work and stay safe.
Thanks! I haven’t heard of the Eclipse before I’ll have to look that up.
Jasper rules! I would love to be living like you. Freedom and pure joy traveling around. ❤️☘️
Appreciate that! Living more simply really has made me appreciate some things much more.
So glad i found you! I have a cat, 5 yrs old and I just adopted a puppy for my weekend warrior companion. I kept trying to tell myself i want crazy for having two of as a single woman. We live in Austin and I'm moving to NC with them! 😂

the Q&A session was very interesting and helpful! I am thinking about getting some land as well.. while I am not a full timer, I have had one heckuva time getting campsites this past year.. I know some of the interest in camping will subside after Covid, but percentage of it will not.
Agree with you on that, this summer was quite crazy with the amount of new campers out there.
You are so well-spoken; thanks for the share!
Thank you for watching Ryan!
Great way to live fulfill yours dreams, love videos
Glad you are enjoying. Thanks for watching!
We compared the Basecamp and the Tab 400 and went with the Tab mainly because of the storage and wardrobe closet. Tab also has radiant heat which is great.
The T@B400 has a lot more storage which is quite nice. Glad you are enjoying it!
I would love to have a home and do this part time
That would be great if you can swing it!
I've always owned property and I've always had a small RV. Doing both part time is the dream.
Your boyfriend better make your relationship permanent. You really have your stuff together!
Thanks Bill!
I'm going for it. Hitting the road
Exciting! Hope you enjoy!
RIGHT? This video was super inspiring!
Way to go ,, That's what we call enjoy life . BRAVO 👏 👏 👏

A tale of caution, be careful when towing a single axle trailer as a flat tire at speeds over 30mph can have dire consequences. This applies to all single axle trailers.
Great reminder to be careful with it!
Another great video. You’re a very good public speaker.
Appreciate that Gregg. Thanks for watching!
I’m jealous of your dog’s life. I feel like a bad pet parent, because my dogs don’t get to see the world! Thank you for sharing.
The best dog parent is one who spends time with their dog and makes them smile, no matter where they are :). I'm sure you are a great dog parent!
@@TailsofWanderlust Thank you so much🥰
Very encouraging to hear how you changed your plans along the way, and learn as you go what you want what works best for you. Very good advice here and very encouraging. Thank you and I look forward to watching more!
Thank you!!

Haha! Same here. Bring on the kitty!

Great tip! I do have the Air Lift bags installed (that was after the main picture was taken).
@@TailsofWanderlust nope. I'm not talking about the air lift kit. What I'm suggesting is a lot cheaper. Like 80 for the two bags. They go in between the rear springs. It aleviates the pressure from too much weight on the springs. The air lift is expensive.
