    Great video. Would have preferred to see a fused spur to isolate the mirror, as we know these items will eventually fail and trip an mcb or RCD and would make it easier to isolate.

    Love this video, watched lots and this is the most clear and informative. I was going to put my mirror on a fused switch that used to have a fan heater on, but now I am not sure if using a feed from the bathroom light will be better 🤔

    was chuffed to see you had a video on this. i did this with my bathroom mirror a few years ago.. however down in the downstairs bathroom.. concrete wall! :( you cant access the ceiling from the loft as theres a bedroom above it. so am thinking of chasing a cable into a fused spur. and then have that fitted next to the back of the mirror and then have the mirror connect to the spur. i guess XD

    Question...
    What if the bathroom is downstairs, so there's no loft... how do you get power/wire from the first floor ceiling light over to the wall ?? Love to know if you have a video or details on this? @The DIY Guy

    • @solly36
      @solly36 8 месяцев назад

      Very difficult in a 2 story house unfortunately. Sometimes there are exhaust fans or AC registers you can remove for access but most the time it will require a section of the ceiling to come down

    In regards to bathroom zoning, does the mirror have to be 0.6m away from the sink/tap is this to the bottom of the mirror or where the electric box is on back of mirror?

    Great, very well explained. Which option is more better...giving power to led mirror from Main Live or Switch Live terminal? Thanks in advance.

    • @TheDIYGuy1
      @TheDIYGuy1  2 года назад +1

      Hi, that depends on the mirrors functions. If your mirror has a switch to operate it independently then you would take it from a permanent live. If you want it to operate from a seperate switch then you'd be best to take it from the switched live.

    Great video👏🏾👍🏾why do you connect the led mirror to permanent Live?

    • @TheDIYGuy1
      @TheDIYGuy1  2 года назад +5

      Thanks. It is connected to a permanent live because if you put it on a switched live then the mirror would only function when the room light is on. Alternatively you could install a seperate switch.

    Warning: these illuminated cabinets are fine but the ones with built in shaver sockets make a continuous buzz from the low budget isolating transformer arrangement. I paid for 3 and now have to disconnect all the sockets and provide separate ones

    why didnt you drill a small hole in the centre of the cut out behind the mirror, pull the cable through it and stick the cut out back in the wall so there's not a big hole behind the mirror!

    The mirror was wired into the lighting circuit without any isolation switch. What happens when you need to isolate the mirror from the supply? Is the DIY guy definitely a qualified electrician or just showing us what he thinks is good enough? Does it comply with Electrical regulations? Especially with all the bathroom rules.

  • @sspicyyful

    Actually, electric work outside zones is not notifiable and does not have to be done by an electrician. But it obviously must be done correctly and safely!

      In Wales all electrical work in a bathroom should be carried out by a registered electrician
