Just curious, what trim did you use on the corners of the tub? I also have a curved tub and the corner trim seems like it's going to be the only challenging part.
    Thanks, great video!

Repair job looks great! But, you have to repair the leak. I had one and it corroded one of the pumps and had to replace it for $256 without labor (DIY). We used flex seal to stop the leak and it worked. Only $13 to keep from ruining your pump and/or wood. Remember chlorine/chemicals in the water.

Very good point...i have not turned it on in awhile... but i agree with you...thanks for watching!!!

You put flex seal on the pump? You know it would have been cheaper to purchase a set of shaft seals and an o-ring. Flex seal? You destroyed that pump.

Theres a one way valve on a air hose that is clogged or broken and its letting water out when you turn off the tub.
You can buy a check vave and replace it or pinch it off with a hose clamp.
    I had the same issue

Thanks, mine only leaks down to the top jets...

That leak is the line from the air control valve. It has either shrunk and separated from the glue joint at the valve, or the tub is over filled. It does not leak when the pump is on because then a vacuume is put on the line created by water passing through the centuries in the jets. Notice that the valve directly above the leak does nothing. It should shut off air to the jets. You will notice that the jets are always on full blast and the output is air water mixed.

Hmmm, under $200 fix vs $4,700 new tub?? I'll take the fix any day. Some people are using the new composite panels that don't rot or need painting.
Highland makes a complete replacement panel kit for $710 bucks that even beats both wood and composite.

    • @JohnSanders

The composite sounds like a pretty good idea

The tub is "Southwest Spas" probably 20 years old or more.

that disconnect is illegal. too close to the tub.

    • @BADALICE
      @BADALICE 4 года назад +1

Yeah I immediately came to the comment section to see how many already pointed that out.
Code? What code? We don't need no stinking code.
You know when you see things like that you think this guy is lucky to be alive. If the disconnect even has the proper GFCI breaker it's probably using ground for a natural wire, or does not have the neutral wire to the breaker instead of the bussbar. Anybody in the hot-tub that were to touch that disconnect box has a much higher probability of instant death than most, especially if the ground wire is being used as a natural. I can't count the number of times so called electricians have suggested this is completly acceptable because the natural and the ground go to the same bar. Yeah what school did you not go to to learn that?
This is so dangerous I can't believe it.
I'm afraid to watch the rest of this.
I'm a spa builder, technician, sales and service over 30 years.
I'm looking at DIY cabinet designes to see if I can find some new ideas.
I'm doing a complete cabinet replacement on a Caldera (older) tub that is otherwise on excellent shape.
I want to go two tone. A darkened coastal grey main panels, with a somewhat charcoal grey trim. Looking for trim, and panel border ideas. I already know what I'm going to do, but you never know, might find something that gives it a little extra appeal.
      Good call on the disconnect.
Lol, aaaa, ha ha ha. Sure enough. He has a sloping slab and he shimmied the tub level with shims. Well that tub will never set flat on a flat surface again. Oh man. So far this tub has all the classic fails. You can't shim a hot tub like this it will warp the tub, separate the lip from the cabinet at the corners, not to mention cracks in the shell. Every owners manual, "flat, level, solid, surface. There are several ways to level a tub, this is not one of them.
      Fired.

Do you realize that you repeat all your thoughts at least 3 times within a matter of a minute. Seriously, you repeat yourself several times in a span of a minute. It's extremely annoying when you repeat the same, exact thought over and over and over. Just say it once and your video would only be 2 minutes long instead of 14!

Be grateful not annoyed. He is not in a speech class and his repeating helps people remember.
