    Back in 2nd ed, I played a neutral good death cleric. The deity in question was neutral, but accepted god or evil equally. He was a kindly guy who taught people to see death itself more as the rest at the end of a long journey. That though dying can be scary and painful, death itself isn't. Played him to 16th level as a loveable and kindly 80 year old great great grandfather. One of my favorite characters.

      There are some characters that I look back on and just want to be again, or just miss being. That is when you know you just played with something that was cool

    Great video as always. I love the concept of a death contain cleric in a party and basically helping them cope with the fact that they’re mortal and are going to die throughout the campaign.

    This is freaking awesome! As usual! Your videos are too notch! I really hope that many others catch on! And that you see the success that you are earning! I'll try to remember to slip in a mention on some of my comments, on my other favorite D&D content creator's videos! 😁

      Wow thanks a lot!!! That means the world to us here. It is not easy to start something, some of the other channels started out with like break out videos and popularity. We have never been that lucky. We gotta fight for it, thankfully we’re good at it LOL. All the people who have watched our videos and subscribed every single one has really meant a lot to us. We watch those numbers like a crazy person so we see when it happens and earning everyone’s attention is really a gift and we love it. We are so great full to everyone for giving a spooky kid a chance

    Switch out *Divine Strike* w/ *Blessed Strikes*. It adds dmg to each dual Toll the Dead or other necro cantrip you picked up.

      It dose a lot to change the perspective of the death domain cleric. It then becomes more ranged based, which can lead to a very different and unique character.

    recently my lauthful good war domain cleric was lobotomised and now belive he serves loth as a death domain cleric. It was so surprisengliy cool, he is still the same but now he tries to follow Loth's dogmas and it just fews wrong, so he is in a constant inside fight betwen being good and pleasing Loth. Sometimes he get glimpses of his old self and I realy hope he goes back to serve Ares one day but I'm loving the trip there!

    im new to the game. ive followed it and planned a game to dm for over a year and its finally up and running. but ive really taken to death clerics for the mixture of advantage and challenging disadvantages that come with it. and ive been planning that if i ever play in a campaign ill be a death cleric.
    but goddamn this video really broke down the melee side to it so well. glaives are my favourite weapons design-wise so ill probably just steal that idea haha.
    Very good video! I left a like and id leave two if i could.

    One of my backups for a lvl 5 campaign is a Kalashtar Death Cleric 3/Paladin 2 Criminal. Alternating between or even combining the necrotic Touch of Death with divine smite makes for an interesting character concept and very destructive combat. I'm just unsure whether it'd be best to take more paladin levels for the extra attack or to take more cleric levels for a second channel usage. Choices...

    • @TheSinisterheroes
      @TheSinisterheroes  2 года назад +1

      The real reason for choosing is gonna come down to ability scores. Do you want a higher spell save dc? Or extra attack. Personally I’d stay cleric. The extra necrotic dmg on the 1 attack is dope.

    For anyone now seeing this take 3 levels in fighter as the death domain cleric gets its last good upgrade at level 17. 3 fighter levels gets you heavy armor proficiency, action surge, and martial archetype which can be very powerful. Also thank you for the video!

    I dont know if Spare of the Dying is better option than Healing Spirit which bring PC back to fight.
    "Forced into Supporting Role"? My counter arguement is "Spiritual Weapon" and "Spirit Guardian" and they are default Cleric Spells.
    I dont think going melee with this subclass is such a good idea (you need to hit with melee attack to get advantage of Touch of Death or Divine Strike which means you need to invest either in Str or Dex on top of Wis and Con) eapecially when you dont have access to Heavy Armor, not fighting style and only attack once.
    Come to think of it, maybe Oathbreaker could have described as "Dark Captain America". That guy is Dark, has access to Heavy armor/Shield and even Charismatic.

    • @TheSinisterheroes
      @TheSinisterheroes  2 года назад

      Hmmm your probably really on point with the dark cap as an oathbreaker. Spiritual weapon and spirit guardians are iconic spells yes but how often they are selected and used varies. Clerics that do more offensive things is a trend that has been picking up speed for some time now, but most clerics have a tendency to be forced into support or healing rolls, and in those cases will opt for healing spirit or aura of vitality. In place of spirit guardians or spiritual weapon. Or even take bless and use there concentration on support. The cleric spell list is one nasty beast, but more often than not most will only see the non offensive spells on that list

      I wonder what good options for Cleric Bonus Action other than Spiritual Weapon: Healing Word is situational/emergency Bonus Action Spell which can be used along side with SW and for Healing Spirit, WotC nerfed it to oblivion, the only viable usage is raising multiple downed allies.
      I have some interesting points from ruclips.net/video/cUImY8fwbxk/видео.html (beware of audio quality though)
      albeit needs some confirmation from DM.
      1. Touch of Death with Spiritual Weapon and Divine Strike since SW is a Weapon and does "Melee" spell "Attack"
      2. Touch of Death with Vampiric Touch since VT does "Melee" spell "Attack"
      3. Double targeting Life Transferance at lv 17
      There are many more but these are what I got from video.
      To be honest, for Reaper (and Improved one too) "two creatures within range and within 5 feet of each other." making it too restrictive.
      Overall long and informative video.

    This was my very first subclass I multiclass into from a Necromancer. I wanted to mini-twin my Necromancy Cantrips. Story wise, my Fairy was studying Religion under the DMPC the night before who worshiped Bahamut. They asked me what do I pray for? I told the DMPC, "Protection & rest in peace."
    Got Hel as my deity.

    • @TheSinisterheroes

      I like it when the story of the game develops in such a way that makes you feel like multiclassing makes sense or should happen, because of an event.

      I do cover some domain spells some times. Most of the time if there’s not something specific that I really like I try not to mention it, it feels good for the class but dosent really change any mechanics.
