thanks for the video. I am in the middle of this project. Symptom: Fan makes loud noise during higher blower settings. blower's passenger side plastic fan had broken allowing fan to expand as it spun faster and burn through the black blower cover. I found that my 525i(built 10/2000) had some components with a slightly different design that what I see in print/video. In removing the air channel, I found that reaching inside the driver's side air channel and pinching the latch that secured the inside flap rod with the outside rod made the airchannel easier to disconnect. the flap rod will bend a little to allow for that. Too much bending will probably break the airchannel flap rod. Also, the other flap rod that sits in front of the blower cover was one long rod(without the black plastic connector in the middle) and didn't get in the way of removing the blower cover. I did remove the bowden cables on both sides of the blower cover and broke one of the "h" shaped clamps. I decided to replace all the sponge insulation for the 4 ducts. The original glue from the sponge insulation pulls off easily for a clean replacement. Vacuum out the insulation debris from the air ducts. In total, I will be replacing the behr blower - $111, the blower cover - $38, the air duct insulation(Walmart AC insulation) and the bowden cable i broke $28. Lastly and unrelated to this blower motor repair, I found that one of the hex nuts, where the steel dash frame attaches to the car's frame, was very loose (1/2 inch from snug) on the bolt. While I am waiting for all my parts to be delivered, I will be retightening the steel frame nuts. Thanks again for the video. I wish I had (and others had HA) fast speed video on their cameras.
1. Is it possible to pull Off the fan from the shaft to get access to the brush area/collector, in order to sprayclean it with electraclean quick dry…. I can easy get my hand in from fotwell and get a god grip. 2. what side are the grafittibrushes mounted, driver or passenger side? Thanks for video!
I think you should replace it , if FSU it is in working order, the collector is definitely worn out and you have nothing to do. to test it, apply 12 volts to the motor terminals
How much time it took? I have working FSU and fine contact, but already 2nd FSU is being melted down in contacts. I heard, that it could be caused by faulty blower, what is taked too much Amps. How do you think? How I can diagnose that? I don’t want to change working blower and do this much work without being sure that it is causing this melting FSU contacts.
Doesn't matter what the car from the video has, if have similar symptoms doesn't mean that they can have the same problem. a lot of people do this like you and is wrong! You need to do a proper diagnose to your car and at the end you will know exactly what the problem is.
Thanx for the video! U make it look unbelievebly simple. I've got the similar problem. My blower suddenly stoped functioning. I tested it with the diag.tool and it showed bad AUC sensor. I changed that, but the air would not blow inside the coupe anyway. Now I'll have to change the blower motor and possibly the aux electric fan because it doesn't spin either. Do u have any idea if a broken blower motor could cause the aux fan to stop spinning or auc rele to burn, by any chance? Or could it be something else that may be the problem? I would realy appreciate any response, as I have never done that job before and it looks complicated af. Any tips would be very helpful. Thanx again for this video
Hello . if you know what you're doing everything is simple the AUC sensor has nothing to do with the passenger compartment blower or with the auxiliary one, they have nothing to do with each other in the sense that one can damage the other or because of one that is faulty another does not work
Merci

Thanks for any input
