True!!! that's why every time I hear this song it gives me feelings.
Breathe is by no means an easy song to sing hence I don't blame the slight use of autotune (if there is). Its dynamic range is big. Jonghyun wrote this song for Lee Hi with the message to go through with the struggles or hardships one may face and keep on breathing because she has had struggled with anxiety/panic attacks and thus would have some breathing difficilties because of it (retrospectively it also seems these were the words he wanted to hear from others as in the last line 'you really did a good job'). But also she's an amazing singer and I'm sure Jonghyun knew he could trust her to do the song justice.

Proof: usually i'm not into kpop idoles, not my style (i'm listening kpop since a very long time) but San got me. I like watching you're videos because you're not fake. I really didn't know there's autotune. He don't need this.
breathe is a song that has a special place in my heart because it was written by Jonghyun from Shinee (a band I love very much). Unfortunately Jonghyun passed away in 2017 but even today his voice is considered one of the most beautiful in all of k-pop... I recommend you listen to his cover of Y si fuera ella... ... in his life in addition to having written songs for Shinee and for his albums he has also written for other artists such as exo, IU, lee hi, Taemin.
Definitely react to Lee Hi's original! It's one of the most famous ballads in all of Kpop and one of the comfort anthems together with another Jonghyun song 'End of a Day'. These two have been covered by many. Lee Hi's tribute stage for Jonghyun is especially emotional. Jonghyun himself has also sung it once.
