I can hardly believe my ears - fantastic playing at any age. Maria is not just a fabulous fiddler - she is a mature artist as good as any out there. Technically, she has absolute control over rhythm, intonation, bowing, thirds, octaves, tenths, harmonics, vibrato, sound - everything!!! And she played the Sauret cadenza (one of the toughest out there) She never looked like she was trying to play - she just played. Fearless!!! Amazing!!!!!!

Duenas has no where to hide (behind a orchestra or a piano) and she gives it her all....with speed! Amazing control and interpretation. A well deserved 1st place award. I look forward seeing what happens with her career.

Very very good. Intonation even at the highest notes is perfect. And the harmonics is superb. And the tone of Maria's violin is excellent... May be it is a Stradivarius...

Incredible playing, and there no hiding, it is very closely recorded, and with piano accompaniment, so you can hear every single note. Is it my imagination or does she seem to be playing fortissimo throughout.

This concerto is so soloist-focused, I think it sounds better with piano accompaniment than with full orchestra.
She was 14 years old. Just incredible. So effortless for her, and such an exciting sound for the listener.
