Thia has always been my favorite song from Cher, written by Sony. Seems like he was writing about their distant future. Listened to this song alot when I lost my family, my son was only 2 when my forever and always ended in a Racine court room. But that little boy is now a young man with a wife and a little boy of his own, and in the end I gained a wonderful Grandson and daughter in law. Love you guys, Dad

    Has anyone ever heard the
Liza Minnelli version of this song ?
It was on an album of hers way back on the late 60's.
I had it when I was about 18.
    Loved the entire album 🤗.

Unfortunately the end of the song is a lie. I don't care how big you get, if you have a heart and love your kids, YOU CRY !

asking the children to become parents: "you'll have to help a whole more than you did before, no more fighting over little things I won't be there to break it up any more."
millions of children of divorce later, this song is totally Uncool.

No, it's reality. I first heard this song in 1967, about a year and a half after most of those very words were said to me. My dad moved less than a mile away and was always there for me, and for my sister and brother. Always. But the fact that he wasn't living in the house did mean that things changed for all of us.

Might be 'uncool' to you but to many of us, it was reality! I used to sing this song all the time and it still takes me back and brings a tear to my eye when I hear it. I never heard these exact words, my father just vanished. But, my brother and I are now in our 60's and we did have to do be parents but we turned out just fine. We learned much.

Whether you think it uncool or not, it is the truth and reality for many kids. My father took me for a walk when I was 10 yo and broke the news of my parents getting divorce. At the same time that my brother, then 7yo was getting the same news at home from my mother. Later my father played this song to me to help get the words out that he couldn't. Lucky for us, the divorce wasn't a bad one. My parents just couldn't make it work together. A combination of marrying way to young and clashing personalities as they got older. Now at 45yo, this song still brings tears to my eyes at the hurt I felt when I was 10. The song pretty well hit the nail on the head for me.

As a child of divorce, I WISH that my parents had this conversation with me and my siblings because we all felt unwanted, unloved and never felt good enough..Our father abandoned us and our mother was too busy working 2 jobs to be there for us the way we needed her to be. Had our parents told us that they would love us no matter what and that they'd still be there for us, it would have saved us from dealing with our internal demons. For this reason, I think this song very "cool" and a great lesson for any couples contemplating divorce. Think about your children and let them know that you're there for them unconditionally! I'm a singer and wrote a song about being a daddyless daughter if you'd like to check it out.ruclips.net/video/Ou6jWSJ3Xn4/видео.html
