- Have you ever wondered what the best ways to seam a crochet sweater are? In this video I will teach you 3 techniques for sewing up crochet garments. These 3 seams are my absolute favorites. I will compare the 3 and show you which ones are best for different types of sweaters!
In a nutshell:
- Use crocheted seams for heavier garments that need a sturdy seam
- Use the whipstitch or mattress seam for lighter weight garments
- Use the mattress seam if you need the seam to be invisible
Watch the video for individual instructions for each one of these easy seams! Seaming your crochet sweaters doesn't have to be difficult, I promise!
Do you like the soft piano music in the background? I am actually a musician and I recorded that myself. If you're interested, check out my piano RUclips channel here: / @thelittleredpiano120

I crochet and sew. Two entire different things. However, if you look at the very basic rules of clothing construction, the same principles apply. Thanks for the vid.🙂
Very true! You’re welcome!
Absolutely love the background music. Beautiful musical gift! Thank you for blessing us🥰
My pleasure!
Good examples
Thanks for excellent video. Like a reviewer below, I would recommend using a contrasting color for instructional purposes as it would be much easier to see the joining stitches. Thanks!
You're welcome! I would definitely do that next time but unfortunately I cannot change this video :)
The yarn colour needs to be brighter for easier viewing. Thanks for your tutorial.
What if the 2 pieces don’t have same number of rows and are different types of stitches?
I also use the slip stitch seam on the right side as a decorative element- I’m doing a moss stitch top right now; the slip stitch seam up the sides adds a little something and defines the side of the top well ! So don’t forget you can use it either direction depending on the look you want
I’ve crocheted for a while now and each time I have to do seams I have wondered which one looks the best on the right side! So thank you for answering this question! I like to use a sc like you but wonder if it’s best. I appreciate your comparison of all three stitches. Thank you!
Glad the video was helpful! =)
Thank you for tutorial 🙏🏼 do you always use the same hook size that you used for the garment
You’re welcome! In most cases, yes you can use the same hook size! It’s kind of up to your own discretion. If you want a tighter or looser seam you can go up or down a hook size. But I usually stick to the same size
Better lighting would to see what you’re trying to show. Contrasting yarn would help too.
Demonstrating this with contrasting yarn would be better.
I agree, looking back I should’ve done that
What stitch is your project in this video? It is beautiful
Thanks! It's the modified lemon peel stitch. I have a tutorial - ruclips.net/video/B3Xew00Egvs/видео.html
@@DesertBlossomCrafts thank you so much I really appreciate that. I’ve never seen it done that good it almost looks like a thermal stitch but also something I’ve never seen.
@@rowdyways4228 You're welcome! Yeah, it is not the typical lemon peel stitch, but a slight variation. I go into that in the video!
This would be a really good video but the music, while beautiful, is really distracting
Do I hear This Is My Father's World in the background?
Yep! 😁
Beautiful!
