I truly loved this round table. What I loved about this one though, was Emma. She’s worked for Scorsese for years and it’s nice to hear from her. I just loved how Matt let her talk too. They all did. ♥️

The movie is an American production about an historical theme in the age of discovery, exploration and the meeting of different civilizations, religion and it's clashes. Portuguese were the first europeans to reach Japan by sea in 1543, long before the arrival of Dutch and English, and with them came missonaries. Still today in Japan there are about 3 million christian Japanese, Christianity was outlawed in Japan in 1638, Catholicism went underground, its rites preserved by the Kakure Kirishitan, or "hidden Christians", who continued practicing their faith in secret private devotion.A multitude of Japanese Catholics were brutally tortured and killed for their faith back then.
