I've been a Crue fan my entire life. I'm 32. I was never really a big Godsmack fan, but they have some decent tunes. I went to Crue Fest 2 to see the Crue. Godsmack put on one of the best live shows I have ever seen. The Crue was an absolute embarassment on stage. They should seriously hang it up man. I understand they gotta pay bills too, but I won't be going to see them again. Mick still rips it up, but Vince has gotta start hitting them gym before he tries touring again.
I saw same tour in Charlotte. Godsmack crushed the crue. The crue set design was boxy ridicules. If Tommy said Titty one more time... pervert. Theory of Deadman, drowning pool great show.

i actually paid $300 for 2 tickets to this concert and when motley crue started singing i left. i paid that much to see godsmack although drowning pool and theory of a deadman were also pretty good. saddest thing is i used to listen to motley crue back in the 80's when they first came out!!! GODSMACK ROCKS!!!!!
I am a musician that likes the Crue and Godsmack. I am 46 and have been playing for 31 years. It is sad to hear Sully talking about what went on on that tour. For me I have to agree with him 100% that music is not and should not be a competition and I too have always viewed it as a brotherhood. It sux that some people are so full of themselves that they can no longer have fun. The day it is no longer fun for me is the day that I will stop playing shows and stay at home.

Sully is from my hometown and I although I don't know him personally, I do know from common friends that hung in the same circles that he is a very nice and humble guy, who just happened to hit the bigtime, good on him!!! He has a right to express his opinion, and if he wasn't famous, why would "journalists" be seeking out his opinion in the first place? I met the band Godsmack 7 days before my 10th birthday at the tweeter center backstage one of my mother’s friends who was huge Godsmack fan knew I like them and she decide to get two tickets and at first I thought that was a great gift how could it get better well it turns my mother’s friend was also friend’s with the band’s manager at the time and she got us backstage passes I remember taking pictures with each and everyone of them but when I got to sully my mom’s friend actually met the band year before and got to sign an autograph for me for my birthday and when I got introduced to sully he was like Joey’s in the house I heard so much about you and I was really nervous when taken a picture and I’m not looking at the camera I was glazing over sully because he was my idol back in the day and the band still is and when I first so the picture I was a little embarrassed that I didn’t look at the camera but now I look back at it and said hey how many people say they got to meet there idol

However, Erna stated in a 1999 interview that "I was making fun of somebody who had a cold sore on his lip and the next day I had one myself and somebody said, 'It's a godsmack.' The name stuck.

I see Godsmack at the water front in Bangor Maine and they were freaking awesome !!!! What a show and wasn't it loud... Rock - on !!!! I grew up as a teen loving Motley Crue and plan to see them at the water front in bangor on May 16th can't wait .... Can't we all just rock together ????? 8)

I would just like to say that I saw Cruefest and Godsmack BLEW the DOORS off of Motley Crue. They should have headlined that tour. Godsmack is the best band and has been for the last 13 years. I'm from Lynn, MA. and I saw these guys at the Rock Pile in Saugus, MA. many years ago when they started. If you think Sully is arrogant or anything but humble and grateful, read his book "The Path We Choose". Keep it up Sully and the boys!

Godsmack are fairly derivative musically, and their albums are not exactly consistent, but i can't deny they are a quality live act. They really impressed me i saw them on the 'Faceless' tour. Met Sully too. He is a real dude. No bullshit about him. I like that he is serious about putting on a good show too. I remember once he said the thing he hated about the grunge era was the scaled down feel, and he wanted to bring back the spectable of classic rock. kudos sully.

I know for a fact Sixx and V Neil are BIG EGO types of dudes, and just like they had to bow to Ozzy in the 80s maybey they want the same reverance today from younger bands. My wife and I met Vince a few years ago in Miami. We hung out for awhile at a 5star hotel bar and had a great time!!! Vince was very cool and friendly. The guy is confident and driven and is a rock star. It was evident that he is very into his music and career. I thought that was awesome. The prima donna crap people are talking about on here- I totally disagree. Vince was a gentleman. He was generous and he appreciated the fact we were fans. 'nuf said.

I think your right that it's about Vince. Vince has always been the prima-donna in the band and it doesn't surprise me a bit that he is having conflict with others. I can't see Mick, Tommy or Nikki having problems with the other bands. Honestly the whole ego thing is a bit of Motley's image and I think they still rock. Nothing against Godsmack but regardless of what Motley does the "fest" is named after Motley, not the other bands.

I was at crue fest 2 in san bernandino and godsmack really brought alot of energy to the stage right before motley crue went on. But I have to say that this seemed planned out by how godsmack was just before motley crue and how they brought the energy to the stage because I dont think that motley crue could have had that big reaction as well maybe close but I dont think so because their age is catching up to them unfortunately. Dont get me wrong I love both bands
I was at crew fest to see Theory of a dead man and Godsmack..... Motley Crue was so terrible we left 15 min into their set. Worst part is I’m an 80’s kid that grew up on their stuff. Tommy Lee is great but the rest of the guys were sooooo bad. Disappointing really
Next to Crue and Disturbed, I love Godsmack. I'll be an honest Crue fan and say I think they were jealous. The crowd went ballistic for Godsmack. However, I will say I was suprised he said all this on air bc he should have been grateful for the opportunity to tour cruefest. JMHO.
Crue, and Gdsmack are from 2 different era's in music. Back in the day Crue was my fav. On that note Godsmack is one of my new favorite band's out there, but you have to admit they both put out some great music. As long as the fan's are happy thats all that really matters. the difference between a band like Godsmack and Motley Crue is that Godsmack play music because they love just playing music and entertaining people. Motley Crue plays music for the attention and for the publicity. Motley crue is a band that made an imprint in music...but that was over 20 years ago...and they havent done anything since, at least godsmack still put out new albums that actually sell.

Being a hard rocker for over 40 years, starting with Led Zep n Stones. GODSMACK has a lot more better tunes to blast than Motley. I skip thru songs on my MC disks more than any band I have in my collection and I just sold my vinyl records few years ago, which had MC’s first album to piss the neighbor off when rattling the windows. Sully said, it’s not a competition. If you like a song “BLAST IT” if not skip to the next one, while cracking a beer and enjoy ! 12-14-17
Motley Crue was and still is the most badass band on the planet. They have done more for rock and metal than Godsmack could ever hope to do; Godsmack should feel privilaged just to roadie a Crue show, much less tour with them.

I went to Crue Fest 2 and I thought that Godsmack did a great performance, even though I don't listen to them. I think that they had a lot of dramatics in the show. But it is called Crue Fest for a reason. Motley Crue are the headliners. People are mainly there to see them. Crue should definitly have the biggest performance. Crue is all about wowing people and they don't need some newer band to out perform them. Not that I think they could.

People buying tickets to see them are reliving there childhood and its fun to see the past. it all boils down to ticket sales = money. The more we talk about this the more attention we bring, the more time they spend in the limelight and thats good for business.
the crue are legends. godsmack are just main stream (not that theyre not good) they are just a band that i feel like makes music to please people and have had very few good hits where the crue have very well known albums that even if youre not a fan of them, you know the albums

Motley Crue have always loved playing the "asshole rock star" role. Those guys have been pampered and enabled their entire lives. Some bands are real down to earth, mellow and cool and some bands think they're entitled and have huge egos.

Being around for a long time does not automatically mean you are better, it means older.

I think your right that it's about Vince. Vince has always been the prima-donna in the band and it doesn't surprise me a bit that he is having conflict with others. I can't see Mick, Tommy or Nikki having problems with the other bands. Honestly the whole ego thing is a bit of Motley's image and I think they still rock. Nothing against Godsmack but regardless of what Motley does the "fest" is named after Motley, not the other bands.

I was at crue fest 2 in san bernandino and godsmack really brought alot of energy to the stage right before motley crue went on. But I have to say that this seemed planned out by how godsmack was just before motley crue and how they brought the energy to the stage because I dont think that motley crue could have had that big reaction as well maybe close but I dont think so because their age is catching up to them unfortunately. Dont get me wrong I love both bands
I was at crew fest to see Theory of a dead man and Godsmack..... Motley Crue was so terrible we left 15 min into their set. Worst part is I’m an 80’s kid that grew up on their stuff. Tommy Lee is great but the rest of the guys were sooooo bad. Disappointing really

Next to Crue and Disturbed, I love Godsmack. I'll be an honest Crue fan and say I think they were jealous. The crowd went ballistic for Godsmack. However, I will say I was suprised he said all this on air bc he should have been grateful for the opportunity to tour cruefest. JMHO.

Crue, and Gdsmack are from 2 different era's in music. Back in the day Crue was my fav. On that note Godsmack is one of my new favorite band's out there, but you have to admit they both put out some great music. As long as the fan's are happy thats all that really matters. When you are a star ego's will always come out, so just shut up, and play the music for the fan's.....

Eddie Van Halen or Randy Rhodes ring any bells?), Alice Cooper, KISS, and Ozzy Osbourne (The "shock rockers") Black Sabbath, and Led Zeppelin (The founders of Heavy Metal, each and every one of their members a million times better Godsmack's). Educate yourself on all these metal bands, and then and only then will you thinking that Motley Crue sucks mean anything to me... otherwise your just a another modern metal junkie to me.
MotleyChick91, I had to log in and answer your. I was at opening show in NJ, and from day one of this tour Godsmack blew Motley Crue away. I mean bye bye. I am a Crue fan too, whats real and true is true, Godsmack should be headlining this tour. They had their time and will always be a great band, but they need to step aside, and I love what Sully says about if your gonna treat them like that!! They take the stage and Motley has zero chance to followup to that standard! Godsmack rules.
Well at the crewfest2 show in Wa. I noticed after GS perfomance I needed a smoke break and was shocked by how many people started to leave during Crew....So the way I see it "Enough said".............**T**
you can pick up any godsmack cd and the whole thing rocks! you might find a song or two on a motley crue cd! there is no comparison between the both!
the difference between a band like Godsmack and Motley Crue is that Godsmack play music because they love just playing music and entertaining people. Motley Crue plays music for the attention and for the publicity. Motley crue is a band that made an imprint in music...but that was over 20 years ago...and they havent done anything since, at least godsmack still put out new albums that actually sell.

hahahaha nice Sully, i love how hes really not interested in the whole competing thing one bit....like he said all he cares about is the music and enjoying himself, and thats what it SHOULD be about, theres alot of bands out there who are so focused one being better than another band whether its on music, peforming, etc, and Godsmacks never been like that, theyre all in the entertainment business for the right reasons, Godsmack is definitely hands down one of the best bands ever
Being a hard rocker for over 40 years, starting with Led Zep n Stones. GODSMACK has a lot more better tunes to blast than Motley. I skip thru songs on my MC disks more than any band I have in my collection and I just sold my vinyl records few years ago, which had MC’s first album to piss the neighbor off when rattling the windows. Sully said, it’s not a competition.

Motley Crue was and still is the most badass band on the planet. They have done more for rock and metal than Godsmack could ever hope to do; Godsmack should feel privilaged just to roadie a Crue show, much less tour with them.
The difference between Motley Crue their music and godsmack's music isn't even in the same category. Motley Crue is basically hair glamour band back in the 80s and 90s. Hair and makeup.
@metallica929 well yeah obviously Motley Cruse will headline, but it becomes a bit of a problem when one of the opening bands is putting on a better show than the headliner.
I went to Crue Fest 2 and I thought that Godsmack did a great performance, even though I don't listen to them. I think that they had a lot of dramatics in the show. But it is called Crue Fest for a reason. Motley Crue are the headliners. People are mainly there to see them. Crue should definitly have the biggest performance. Crue is all about wowing people and they don't need some newer band to out perform them. Not that I think they could.

Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax (the "BIG 4", for those of you uneducated in the history of metal), AC/DC, Judas Priest, and Iron Maiden (Bands that brought metal back in the late 70's, when it was being killed by Punk), Van Halen, Motley Crue, Def Leppard, Twisted Sister, Scorpions, Quiet Riot (bands sometimes known as glam/hair metal, yet still amazing...

I like Godsmack. They have a couple of decent songs but, to compare them to Mötley who 35 years later is still selling out arena's and have sold over 75 million albums is ridiculous. Is Godsmack even still around? They have sold less than 10 million albums and were the Crue's opener for a reason. Nobody gives a shit about the opener. I'm not going to trash Godsmack but, this isn't even a fair comparison.

Motley Crue needs bands like Godsmack to sell tickets, Motley Crue could never sell out a show on there own and they know it hence the "Crue Fest" They are a nostalgia band of the day gone past. People buying tickets to see them are reliving there childhood and its fun to see the past. it all boils down to ticket sales = money. The more we talk about this the more attention we bring, the more time they spend in the limelight and thats good for business.

the crue are legends. godsmack are just main stream (not that theyre not good) they are just a band that i feel like makes music to please people and have had very few good hits where the crue have very well known albums that even if youre not a fan of them, you know the albums

@JoeKersten It's just you. That's not whining, that's a guy who just wants to play good music and have a good time with other musicians and give people their money's worth. Motley Crue have always loved playing the "asshole rock star" role. Those guys have been pampered and enabled their entire lives. Some bands are real down to earth, mellow and cool and some bands think they're entitled and have huge egos.
