Here's a thought. Full auto PDWs. IE. P90, MP5, MP7. I'd hesitate with the 5.7/4.6x30 for worry of over penetration, but the controllability is there. An MP5 full auto with critical defense would be devastating and very controllable. An MP5 with a silencer is as close as you can get to a magical wand of go away as I can think of. I was controlling my mp5 full auto in the head area of a target at 10 yards.

9mm will penetrate through common mediums better than the lighter and easy to fragment 5.7/4.6. You have your ballistics all backwards, the heavier 115-147 gr 9mm will hold momentum through different mediums better than a light 40gr 5.7

@@ASPextra tbh I have no idea how to judge that metric. 100 hours. Does that mean 10,000 rounds? Does it mean 100 hours of weapon manipulation? Idk. I'm not questioning your ability to manipulate a carbine. The statement was only about people who's training and practice is primarily/exclusively semi-auto, judging full auto, when they don't have that much experience with full auto. If you have a ton of full auto experience, then I apologise for saying you don't. I just recently acquired my first full auto a month ago, and I have beat the absolute crap out of it practicing. Well, with the SBR, you basically just put the gun up and shot. Whereas with the longer rifle, you put the gun up and took your time to look through the sighs, which is why your shots were more on target. I have both setups like that too and while the SBR (pistol in my case) is a little harder to control, if I take the same amount of time to get the shot, I'm just as accurate.

To be clear, assault rifles aren't capable of auto or burst because they are meant for suppression (though they can be used that way in limited capacity). Assault rifles were meant to serve in place of rifles and submachine guns. The mp40, thompson, grease gun, or mp5 weren't meant for suppression but had auto capability. They were meant to quickly fire bursts into close targets.
And that was the purpose of auto fire in assault rifles. That feature still may not be relevant to self defense but I think you have your military doctrine wrong.

Those that do have select-fire here in the great state of Arizona have other designated tools for home defense. Then again, they also tend to have layers of security in place.

I only have exception with the use of the term assault rifle, or assault weapon. This is an anti gun term made up to confuse and scare people
We need to stop using it all together, the military does not have assault rifles, we have rifles and machine guns, that’s it. Unless something has changed since 2015, the US Army issues rifles that are either safe, semi (single shot) or 3 round burst, and nowhere, but nowhere are they labeled or referred to as assault weapons or assault rifles, NoWhere! Soldiers will call their rifles either rifles or weapons. never but never will any soldier ever refer to their weapon as an assault rifle, Never. We need to stop using their made up terms.
Machine guns like the M249 (saw) or M2 (.50 cal) or the 240B(ravo) are machine guns, they’re always full auto, they’re used for fire superiority and fire suppression, and again nowhere but nowhere does the army refer to these weapon systems as assault weapons
Please eradicate this made up term from your vocabulary, please
