Caparezza is one of the Italian singers who plays the most with words, has incredible references and a crazy amount of cultural depth, but he’s very difficult to fully understand and appreciate if you’re not a native speaker.
That was not Albert Einstein in the video, that was an inner joke. Early in the song, Caparezza mentioned how his drunk grandfather would put on a show on the day of his communion... So there he is, grampa's at it again for his funeral

Yes, you are right to think he's like Slim SHady. Caparezza is his stage name, his real name is Michele Salvemini. Caparezza literally means "curly head" referring to hi super messy curly and almost afro hair. His lyrics are among the best and deepest in the Italian music business. He can be very sarcastic, he plays with words making very smart puns and touches a lot of social issues. Great artist, undererestimated.
I wouldn't say underrated, anyone who isn't a 14 year old recognizes his talent, at most they say it's not their genre, but I've never met anyone who doesn't consider him talented.
Some lyrics are even presented in school, I remember my art teacher playing "Van Gogh" cause is both a form of art as a song and has a lot of references to the artist Van Gogh in it. Underrated isn't exactly a righteous word to use here I guess
jodellavitanonhocapitouncazzo is LITERALLY THE TIP OF THE ICEBERG. caparezza is an incredible artist, most of his songs are fire. Try "La mia parte intollerante", "giuda me", "autoipnotica" or "argenti vive" (a few of my personal favs)
You need to have studied the Commedia at school to understand most of the meaning behind Argenti Vive, otherwise it's a little difficult to decypher the details
Unfortunately if you cannot speak a perfect Italian you cannot fully understand his genius. Caparezza is a master of puns and rhetorical forms, such as metaphors, metonyms, synecdochs... not to mention his amazing skill with alliteration Edit: I am happy to find from the comments that there are many other Italians who understand this and recognize his absolute value.
Caparezza is a very deep artist. He became famous with a song called "fuori dal tunnel" (out of the tunnel) and because people didn't understand the deep meaning of the song he stopped performing it in live shows.
the last part with Caparezza staying on a pile of garbage is supposed to be a pun Caparezza is from Molfetta, but in the ending he's at "Monnezza" which is one of the italian therms to say "garbage"
Basically Caparezza is the italian equivalent of Eminem because they're two lyrichal monsters. This is my opinion as a Caparezza enjoyer. I recommend you to listen "Abiura di me", that song is is a continous reference to videogames but still very connected to reality

I love when people from other countries discover such masterpieces, in particular Caparezza. His lyrics have deep meanings and makes some genius wordplays.
You got it when saying that Caparezza somehow reminds you Eminem: Michele Salvemini (Caparezza's actual name) is greatly able to work with the language, metaphores and allegories, twisting and blasting the meaning of the phrases, just like Eminen perfectly did. You should listen to "Il dito medio di Galileo" and "Mica Van Gogh". Great reaction mate 👍
Caparezza è l'artista controcorrente che non cerca fama come fanno tanti ma è lui stesso a fare parlare di sé con I suoi testi pungenti e diretti. Non è per tutti. Ed è un genio della musica
He's the greatest Italian rapper, his music is incredibly varied and solid, his lyrics are full of references, going from classical literature to modern cinema to videogames, and generally each bar has at the very least a couple of different meanings. Very difficult to follow for a non italian tbf. He's not mentally ill, but he has faced a number of psychological issues and he has a very serious case of titinnus
I went to, at least, one concert of EVERY single tour Caparezza did from when I was 15 till now that I’m 36. Every concert is an incredible SHOW. He’s the best live performer that I know (and I’ve seen a lot of international artists). The way he uses words, the cultural and historical stuff he puts in his lyrics is unmatched. He’s also incredibly private in his life. The best.
When he wrote this, Capa was basically on the cusp of fame. He tried to build a career as Mikimix between 1995 and 1998, trying and failing to make an impression at Sanremo (probably the biggest music festival in Italy) before rebranding himself as Caparezza and hitting it big with his first album "?!". This was his second album, which cemented his fame and defined his style for a decade after that. He basically sings his history in the song "Campione dei novanta", if you want to have more context about him as a singer that's a must. I'll also suggest my favourites, "Una chiave, "La certa" and "Chinatown". If you want to hear some of his iconic songs, though, the ones that truly made him famous, try "Fuori dal tunnel" and "Vieni a ballare in Puglia".
yeah caparezza is a very good writer, i love how he can find rhymes with words you don't usually use for singing...this song is amazing. i mean for italians speakers...thank you for showing this! I forgot to tell you, that, capa rezza means curly head referred to the hair style. he is really unusual in Italy even if in the south we are all brown or black hair! LOL
This song is abt him feeling out of place both as an artist and as a person, as far as we know back then he wasn't dealing with mental issues like schizophrenia, but he wanted to advocate for those who feel "out of place" with this song (title translates to "I didn't understand a fck about life") Caparezza has gotten even more personal with his two last albums, in which he takes us to the dark place he's been a few years ago, when his tinnitus started. He lost quite a lot of his hearing, but he doesn't seem to back down from his career. His meticulous work ethic makes him drop literally an album every 5 years, but it's always worth the wait. Studying his lyrics is a sure way to massively improve your Italian skills, like other said he's our Eminem/Kendrick Lamar. His pen is only matched by Rancore and Murubutu (check them out too!!). Also I've been to a concert of his and he's a terrific performer, much into theatrics and bringing huge stage props, changing costumes, etc. And finally, the small mini-him following him around here is indeed kinda an alter ego of him, Caparezzino
"vieni a ballare in puglia" is also very good, and it's deep. it's one of those very upbeat songs that if you listen to the lyrics are sad. it basically talks about how in the the southern part of italy the working condition is unliveable because it's dangerous (for example, he says "keep your head up when you walk next to the crane because it can happen that breaks and if falls" or "i had a friend that to kill himself had to go work in a factory")
I recommend something very special. If you have ever seen a Disney movie you will know that they are full of songs and often there are their own versions in various languages. A song from Treasure Planet was sung by an Italian band from the nineties called 883. The song is called "Ci sono anch'io" and you can find it on RUclips. If you remember which song was in English then you can make the comparison. There would be hundreds, but this one has also become a famous song beyond the simple movie being by a very famous group in Italy, so it is an interesting comparison.
4:15 In Italy, the Two of Spades (Due di Picche) is often associated with bad luck or misfortune in traditional card games and superstition. It can symbolize conflict, difficulty, or negative outcomes.
Caparezza has a personal history of being an outsider, many of his songs are about being "surpassed" by society and taking pride about being just unique, especially to critizise current society, that he use as a way to express his identity
ELECTRONIC YODEL, CAPA'S GENIUS!!!! The best Caparezza's track to me.... the cut with the doctor recalls to me Eminem's Guilty conscience. The drunk grandfather (mentioned in the first verse) at the funeral is the cherry on the cakeof this fantastic videoclip.
Caparezza is a Maestro and without knowing the language isn’t so easy to get it but the style is just superb! An Apulian that can even play with the yodel.
Noi italiani abbiamo una musicalità della lingua impensabile per gli anglosassoni, comunque ci credi che per noi italiani il rap in inglese non è facile e spesso non è il massimo. Consiglio "Vengo dalla luna"
In italian language the song is full of cool rhymes. He tells full stories! He is a great singer. You like it also if you do not like rap! 😄. He became famous with the song: "Il tunnel del divertimento"...Look for it if you like it 😄
I LOVE Caparezza. If you speak Italian, the subtleties in the lyrics make it all even better, but even if you don't, the innovative sound experiments are more than enough to carry you through. Great artist.
Caparezza's albums are thematic, they deal with complex topics in a complex way. Listening to him, after years, I discover some word games that I hadn't noticed before. I especially love forms like "I don't want to be understood. I want to be! Understood?" (in italian: "Non ho voglia di essere capito. Ho voglia di essere! Capito?")
The choir is a reference to the traditional austrian jodel singers (JODEL la vita non ho capito un cazzo). Caparezza is by far the best italian rapper, and nothing is left to chance.
Yaeh this is like his alter ego. Caparezza is one of the most iconic rappers in italian rap history. he talks without filters in his songs about politic or other important arguments. He is actually of of my favourite singers bacause of this
This song has a lot to unpack I wouldn't know where to start. This one was the ending track of Caparezza's (alias of Michele Salvemini - that's why his character has an M on his shirt in some scenes) second album; his music often portrays the topic of struggling with mental health and not finding his own place in society. At a younger age he tried to get into music as a pop-rap singer named Miki-mix but it was mostly a flop despite a song competed in San Remo (probably the most renowned italian music competition) and that 'persona' never sat right with him, and even many years later he mentiones that first public appearance. "Jodellavitanonhocapitouncazzo" is a play on Jodel-music and a phrase which could be translated "I understood shit about life" and the song is a consideration about feeling like he could feel much better if he was a "normal" person but in the end that's the life he chose and he's glad about it. The two of spades in italian culture means to be dealt a bad hand in life; so he's cheating, but with the worst cards in game possible. Also, his third album "Habemus Capa" was a concept album thought as a reverse starting with him escaping hell (since in the end of this song he mentioned him dying) and escaping as Caparezza, fully embracing his alter ego, which is a theme explored further in the album, especially in the track "la mia parte intollerante" (my intolerant side) in which he explores that not only he doesn't fit in society but he doesn't fit with rap-culture either despite rap-music being his music genre of adoption.
That's not Einstein, I believe it's the drunken Granpa he talked about at the start of the song :) Caparezza is a well beloved artist in Italy, he had commercial success in early 2000's and 2010's but he tries (successfully imho) to put out great work in spite of that. Look into his work more if you want, he deserves it!
Caparezza is one of the Italian singers who plays the most with words, has incredible references and a crazy amount of cultural depth, but he’s very difficult to fully understand and appreciate if you’re not a native speaker.
And, even if you're a native speaker, not everything's easy to understand

The choir is a reference to the traditional austrian jodel singers (JODEL la vita non ho capito un cazzo). Caparezza is by far the best italian rapper, and nothing is left to chance.
Ascolta il resto della musica di Caparezza.....! Rimarrai sorpreso ancora di più!
Yaeh this is like his alter ego. Caparezza is one of the most iconic rappers in italian rap history.
he talks without filters in his songs about politic or other important arguments. He is actually of of my favourite singers bacause of this
Big Caparezza fan, I'm glad you liked this song
As an italian i love caparezza' s songs
As an italian, i can absolutely confirm that he drops only bangers. This song is one of his best hits ngl
ITALIANI,schieratevi con me.
una reaction di Caparezza??? FINALMENTE una reaction di Jodellavitanonhocapitouncazzo che é uno dei miei brani preferiti (🇮🇹)
You should check fabrizio de andre la ballata dell’amore cieco.. crazy lyrics
Fortissimo e tagliente Caparezza
That old man that he misunderstood was his "drunk granpa" that he song about at the start
That's not Einstein, I believe it's the drunken Granpa he talked about at the start of the song :)
Caparezza is a well beloved artist in Italy, he had commercial success in early 2000's and 2010's but he tries (successfully imho) to put out great work in spite of that. Look into his work more if you want, he deserves it!
As an italian the things he says are like nonsense like "i like womens who smells like Cod"
