Nice thanks!, can this be done without lifting the wheels off the ground. For example with the car on ramps? Or do the wheels have to hang freely to replace the thrust washer in the steering rack?

i did mine today, sad tho, i put it in correct but the bush has got stuck,, used a g clamp to try press it in to seat it but that failed,, now the bush is stuck in and i cant get it out,, getting it looked at by a shop to see if they can get it out,, order another new new one,, if that dont fit back in with the old,
@@bazmeredith put the new one in the same as the old one, but always a chance its turned and gone in wrong, qurstion is now that its stuck how does one get it out, i mean its STUCK in there, cant get the cap on about 1 m of tred showing, open to ideas to try tomorrow on how i can remove it
Felt I needed to update on mine. Yes self tapper screwed in got out the stuck one. Lesson here for all. Don't bye the cheap Amazon or eBay kits trust me they don't fit... And don't do like me and press it in getting it stuck. I gone to looks bwm one said will not sell me the bush only a new rack. Tried another looks bwm both main dealers they sold me the bush kit for £108. Got it home fitted it not one issue It's fixed the knock and went in the rack just like this video. For me it really was buy cheat buy twice. With the help of this video and advise I would of be in a bad place So many thanks

On a f20/f21 diesel from 2012 it's a hexagonal cap and i can't take it out.

Iv got this knocking and it's failed MOT on it. Got the kit but the old part is stuck in the rack?! Cannot get the damn thing out. Any advice?

No different rack buddy this is only f chassis

Get a drill 8th drill bit and put a hole in the center and a self tapper screw init pair of mole grips and pull it out, that's what I'd do
