    I always sew my crotch seams this way because I prefer to sew them when they are flat, it's just easier to make it line up, ensure your not sewing it wrong and have it be nice. 10/10 recommend it.

    The summer sets turned out so well. Well done.
    "The internet will be impressed. And your cats will respect you." Substitute in Guinea Pigs and daydreams of starting a YT sewing/creating channel... and I'm right there with you. This is at least part of the reason why I picked up a size 14 1950's summer set, when I am, in fact, closer to a size 18 or 22 - Ms. Stephanie Canada held one of her public unboxing of old patterns (hint - if you trust to fate that all the pattern pieces are there, the price is amazing). Because I'm apparently a masochist for upsizing. I'm also about to start my first ever pair of pants. Suggested offerings to the Sewing Gods (both the old & the new) would be appreciated. The patterning geography for pants is So weird...
    And, side point, honoured to be the first commenter when you discount the usual 'adult porn sites' automatic comments. Those things are everywhere; must be a little discouraging at time. Anyways, great video. Cheers. Hope the temp improves soon.

    Delightful kitten helper is not wrong about sewing being witchcraft. I've been using a lot of bedding to sew and foresaw your dying outcome, they came out much better than some of my polycotton attempts though, very well done!
    I made a pair of very baggy trousers out of assumed white cotton sheets and discovered after dying that the back of one leg was not like the others. I find dylon machine dyes more consistent than hand dye, but the colours are Never like the are on the packet.

    • @EmilySnee
      @EmilySnee  2 года назад +1

      I definitely find the machines dyes more consistent, and I have had some Dylon dyes (particularly the greens) come out pretty true to colour. But dyeing is always a bit of an experiment 😅

    Honestly... I probably never would have thought about the sweat stains on sheeting. 😬 But I do make sure that if I'm buying a sheet for sewing/mock-ups I I won't buy it unless it still has its tag so I can verify fabric content

(like all your creations do in my opinion=). It is also very inspiring the way you always come up with ways to solve the problems you bump into in the process!

    They look good, despite the length of time it took to make them, or perhaps because you took your time to make them and made them well. Either way, they're great and are now going to be ready for an unseasonable Autumn heatwave and also next year's Summer Crucible! 👏👏👏

      I didn’t crochet it, but a friend of mine did! She made it to be a little ornament to pop on a shelf, but I realised it would make a fabulous pin cushion.
      She loves that it’s being used (and also being admired). I’ve actually commissioned her to make me a little pumpkin one 😍

  • @ReinaElizondo

    Yes! So many amazing items and love the color. Haha cheers to potentially disastrous decisions that make things more wearable!
    Oddly I've been able to use tide pens to correct some splotch-iness in dyed items. It can lighten the spots right outside of the splotch too but I like that they're less noticeable anyway. I put a rag under, moderately dab the whole stain more inside than outside and rub more at the edges of the splotch, then rinse and wash. Keep in mind things are darker when wet so you don't have to scrub until it disappears. I haven't tried it with prestained bits, but since they're something tide pens would presumably help with, maybe there's a chance? The whole splotch doesn't usually go away entirely without making a significant pale spot but it makes it much less noticeable.

    • @EmilySnee
      @EmilySnee  2 года назад +1

      Tide pens is a really interesting idea! I might have to give that a try!!

      Well, part of that is just practice (I’ve done a *lot* of winging it in my time 😉), and part of it is that if a project was totally disastrous I wouldn’t really have a fancy reveal bit to show you, so it would be a different style of video 😂

    Oh man, I already have so many feelings and I'm only one minute in.
    First I can't hear the word culottes without cringing (they were the ugliest part of a uniform (boyscout adjacent type group) in my youth and I just remember hating them so much.)
    Next half to that, what defines culottes? bc I just remember them being kind of like pants but uncomfortable?
    Second is ugh. I love how a crop top looks on other people but I'm so freaking short waisted that it's more like 'show off a tit when you raise an arm' look on me 🤦

    • @EmilySnee
      @EmilySnee  2 года назад

      I think of culottes as being wide leg trousers that are shorter than trousers, but longer than shorts. I don’t know if that’s the official definition though 😂
