    The finished coat is très chic 👌

    The coat looks lovely, and you look fab in it. You could now make an evening coat and a summer coat using the same pattern as it really suits you 😺🪡🇬🇧

    What a cute coat! Welcome back. Hope you are feeling better. Very jealous that that is your warmest coat. Would not be enough here is southern Ontario.

    This is a beautiful coat. It looks great and I'm glad that wearing it has made you love what you would have changed about it. It reminds me that I should eat the makes I don't immediately love and see if they do the same.

    It turned out wonderfully! You look great in it!😁
    I have a similarly thick & roomy hooded "housecoat" which I "live" in most of the year. I love it so much!
    I've been subscribed since around the Wheel of Time piece, which Bernadette linked, I believe.
    There's so much I live about your videos. I especially enjoy listening to you speak, and share your thoughts.
    If you accept requests, please consider more of the Feline Sotto Voice, I find it delightfully healing 🌞

    Hello! Google has been eavesdropping so it fed me this video. I'm currently working on a 1940's coat myself, but adapting it from a dress pattern, so I've been watching videos for vintage coat construction. Yours turned out very nice! I also have a Featherweight and I love it. If it only had a zigzag I would use it all the time! I bet you can get your own so you don't have to murder your mother. 😆

    YOU'RE BACK!!!!! 😍💗💚 Love how thicc and chunky the cuffs are, amazed at how perfectly the pattern at the front lines up, the green hair bandana (?) is very fabulous. Lmfao at the brief but well though out talk of "murder". This adventure was so cool!! Loved it so much. And the fingers guns ^_^

    The coat is lovely and really suits you. Re vintage machines: my very favorite machine is a 1940 Singer 201. She is decadent to sew with. If you find either a 201, or a 15, you might want to grab her. Huge harp space, utterly stable, sews through MONSTER material...

    • @expatpiskie
      @expatpiskie Год назад +2

      I managed to find a 191K manual machine. Just like my mum's machine that I learnt to sew on. I know from mum's experience that it will sew anything from leather to satin and without throwing a hissy fit like my modern machine tends to do. It's a monster, made of pig iron but I love it.

    • @katecapek3116
      @katecapek3116 Год назад +2

      @@expatpiskie All 3 of my WWII era machines are black iron. They are so forgiving. I prefer to use a zigzag attachment on one of them than to grit my teeth with the modern machine. (The modern machine is at high risk of being sold.)

  • @practicallymedieval2027
    @practicallymedieval2027 Год назад +1

    I am obsessed with vintage singers... but my drug of choice is the slant-o-matics. I learned on a rocketeer, which I will not be murdering my mother for... but I made her put it in her will to me, because damn it's amazing. I own a 403 and I swear by the slightly higher shank of the slant shank machines... but vintage singer are beasts. They just keep on truckin. I hope you find a vintage machine of your own to love, because you will never go back... or you'll buy and industrial, but they take up so much room...

    I use an old featherweight for sewing myself and I noticed 2 things during your video:
    1) The needle is not supposed to move when winding the bobbin
    2) That squeaking noise may indicate insufficient lubrication, which can damage the motor over time and make sewing harder than it needs to be.
    Great job and I love the old Singer!

    It’s gorgeous! As a fellow shortie 5’2” I was concerned about the huge cuffs as I thought they might overwhelm your frame - but actually they look awesome! You definitely are rocking it 🥰

  • @MiffoKarin

    The coat turned out wonderful! LOVE the colours!
    Does walking in it make you feel more confident? I have a long wool coat of my own and wearing it somehow makes me feel more powerful just from the swooshing of the lower half when I walk around. 😅
    And I completely understand wanting to use the old sewing machine more, my machine is from the late 50's (or early 60's) and newer machines just feel weak and flimsy in comparison. I'll keep this cast iron workhorse, thanks.

    On the sewing machine thing: out of all the sewing machines I have, the oldest (a 1930's/1940's 15k88) works the best. (it even has the manual and a few different feet.)
