25 years ago I lost a 2x point DB drag, I finished 2nd with a Single 12W7 on 1000wrms (JL 1000/1) I did 143.6db in the trunk on a 95 Mustang, the guy that beat me had a DD 9512 on a crossfire 1500 in a 92 Ford Probe hatch back he did a 144.1db (and the same TermLab mic on the windshield)
Hey I just wanted to say you seem like a knowledgeable dude that tries to help the up &comers out there. I’m on Dissability & can’t do what I used to & paid a big place here in the chicago suburbs to run my power cable because I can’t feel my legs & have had back & hip surgery. They did such a shitty job. I just needed them to run the power cable but the cost included amp hookup & sub hookup. They raped me $90 for cheap shitty JL audio low end rca’s a quad & stereo. I had the amp wire, remote wire & box. They didn’t mount the box, turned the kenwood excel on sub out to plus 10- yes Plus 10! I’ve installed 50 systems in my life as a side gig. My dad owned his business as a mechanic so I had everything but his initial support. Once he heard my car with 2 JL 12w4-4’s on a sound stream reference 700sx oss a pioneer primer no hi out head unit with a pioneer deq-p9200 eq with dsp back in ‘97 with a phoenix gold bass cube he was sold. Having cancer he asked me if I could do it for his truck without telling mom how much it costed. It was probably the most remembered bonding experience with him because he always told me it was stupid to do this to a vehicle. I just did it for my wife with a 12w6 ho box on a rd900/5 with the same old school phoenix gold bass cube & as expected she was not 1/100th as impressed as my father & I even put a damn backup cam in for her plus triple layered dynomat and a layer of closed cell foam. Now she bitches she’s to old to know how to learn to use the head unit. My arms are still bruised and cut from putting the stuff in & instead of showing appreciation she says “we need a new washer & dryer”. I get the belt & she says no, a new one. At least my daughter loves it & her friends think it’s good. Them JL amps are really under rated and the 12’ ho box is like 3 of the 10” w6 ho boxes. Keep up the posting good vids. When I built custom boxes my local installer let me copy pages from the JL reference manual/binder they gave dealers & I made some great boxes with that info. I’m curious if anyone knows if JL still supplies their dealers with a resource like that via pdf/web login or binder still. Take care bro & keep educating these people

I am loving the Kicker design right now. It seems like if you buy it you wont ever have to buy another one unless you want more. 700 bucks and if I blow the woofer I can fix it for a fraction of the cost of a new one and it's easy to swap the cone. It seems like its best value in car audio yet. Half the price of their old one and better. I don't know why I would buy anything else. Sure they are going to sell me some cones but thats so much less than a new woofer everytime or a heck of a lot of work on a sticky cone replacement. I think I'd marry the new solo x!!! lol
Sundown X series is around same price and RMS level. Resilient sounds platinum series has same rms but cheaper. Deaf bounce 3512, Avatar 1246, DC Audio XL, Soundqubed HDX4, incriminator audio death penalty. Lot of good subs in that price range. That kicker gonna have to really get down to compete with the X . And the X can take 3000 rms all day. And I'm sure with the square design it means more cone area and more cone area means a bigger box than a regular 12 that is circular. Just some other thoughts
Thats an amazing subwoofer. I cant wait to get my two L7 Solo X subs. Just trying to get a feel for the performance from cutsomers who bought the subwoofer, im also gonna wait for the 15 and see if ill go with the 12s or 15s for my 02 Park Ave, that car has a very large trunk to work with. No Name i would go with two of the kicker CXA1800.1 amps for each subwoofer or if you would like to only use 1 amp with a little more headroom for power if your not in a rush to get them running yet, kicker did mention that they have a Warhorse V2 amp that is supposed to do 3500 RMS minimum coming soon to pair with the Solo X subs. 😎👌

No Name hmmmm..... if the bass cuts off it could be a couple of things. 1. Like you mentioned, you may need a another amp with more power 2. You can be experiencing Clipping and will need to turn the gain in the amp down 3. Its possble that the amp is not seeing enough power from your Car's electrical system to stay powered on when the bass hits heavy 4. The subwoofer may not be wired to give you the best performance out of your amp for example dual 2 ohm wired to 1 ohm in Parallel by having both negstive terminals connected together as one and the same for the positive side and having that wired to the amp or dual 2 ohm wired in Series at 4 ohms by having the negative terminal from the first Voicecoil usually identifed with a white dot connected to positive terminal number 2 of the positive side that does not have the whotw dot then plug the two remaining cables from your sub to your amp and that should help. Hopefully, you are able to figure out what's going on with your setup.
They know what they're doing if you keep the price a little bit lower than the rest of the companies they will make a fortune and you don't have to worry about a recone if it blows under warranty they will replace them i used to run kicker for years until I heard DD but they price went up?

As MB said in one of his vids, its all about the business aspect at the end. They can afford to price their products below market value yet still make tremendous profits based on the sheer volume of their sales. Kicker's R&D HAS to be among the best if not the best which translates to VERY COMPETITIVE products and that translates to $$$! Like'em, love'em or hate'em, Kicker knows business and their namesake in the industry is almost unmatched.
These Solo x's, I'd have to hear them in person/in a vehicle my self to make a decision on buying them. You have Resilient Sounds among others that are good. But, again I'd have to hear um.
MB, you said that those with the Q can swap these X’s in there place using the same box. Why don’t kicker state that these can be ran in 3-6cuft like the Q? They only state to run the X in 3 cubes.
I like kicker. I went threw alot of kickers from ever woofer to amps and components sets. Kicker a good brand. This woofer havent been out long enough for me to compare it with a skar vxf yet. Or even an amercan bass or sundown. Kicker actually taking some power now. Is a good thing. But my thing with kicker is the test of time. Even so it can be rebuilt but not every reuilds . Im one year in on skar vxfs and so for they taking a beating good as any ither brand. So for a entry level sub. Kicker cant compare just yet . Imo
Pictures & videos doesn't do the subs justice as to the size & girth. I just got 2 DD 9512s and they are massive & heavy. I've been running the 700 redline series for a few years and I thought they were a good size. The 9512 easily dwarf my old 700 series. You have to see these subs in person to truly appreciate them.

The only reason why Kicker can come in on a price point that low is because their manufacturing is in China. Everything is designed and tested here in the United States, all material is hand picked by Kicker and Kicker has 100% control of the manufacturing in China to the point where Kicker literally has an assembly line stop button in Stillwater. Everything’s just assembled in China to keep manufacturing costs as low as possible. People don’t realize all of that. They just say Kicker sold out to Walmart because you can buy a comp sub and base model amp at Walmart. The ignorance is mind blowing with some people in the audio community. DD is awesome equipment but I’ll take the SoloX every day of the week over any DD sub.

Actually mbe the corner to corner measurement of the kicker q class would be more like 15.4 inches so it wont fit in the round DD cut-out

The solo x has some design flaws with the spiders separating I know three people who have had the exact same problem stick with the dd audio
