    I'm 48 ... Own a 22 Suzuki RMZ 450... Buying the KLX 140R... To play around as a pit bike ... Pretty excited for a cool winter build... I have a feeling I'll enjoy more the KLX ... Super cool looking machine... !!!

    • @bwxmoto
      @bwxmoto  10 месяцев назад +5

      Yeah I mean it's nothing like a motocross bike but still a ton of fun especially in the woods and slower technical trails. It being so light weight and easy to ride is nice. I'm older than you and don't really want to go that fast in the woods anymore! I feel like I've used up most of my 9 lives. LOL

      I bought a 2022 Yamaha Raptor 90 quad for my girlfriends daughter and I absolutely enjoy the slower, yet, still quick little wheelie machine... Great to keep balance and to set long distance wheelies... I ride rolling fields with the 450... KLX would be an additional play bike... Thank you for your video

    first, put a carb on it, next put a pipe on it, then upgrade suspension to kx85 forks and t clamps. (they bolt on very easy) if you want more jam put bbr big bore in it. i did this to mine and it is perfect

    • @bwxmoto
      @bwxmoto  Год назад +1

      Sounds like a good plan. I think I may keep stock pipe just for noise and legality on this bike. I really appreciate the low volume and spark arrestor. Maybe there’s an aftermarket pipe with baffle and spark arrestor that weighs less than stock pipe. I’m sure the stock pipe weighs a lot.

    • @davidjdunham

    • @bwxmoto
      @bwxmoto  8 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah that would be nice. With the carb it’s easier to change it out and tune it up though, but for most people fuel injection would be better. Might make bike heavier and more expensive though who knows. But yeah it’s a great little trail bike if you aren’t too tall or heavy. For me it’s great, tons of fun!

    I literally just bought one of these yesterday, gonna pick it up next week. I’m real curious to see if it has the same lean symptoms as everyone else is reporting from these new models. I already have the Mikuni carb upgrade kit on standby for fixing that and better throttle response anyways. Nice review on the bike!

    • @bwxmoto
      @bwxmoto  Год назад +1

      Thanks! Yup I bet it'll probably run super lean and maybe not idle until very hot unless your dealer drilled out the air fuel mixture screw epoxy and adjusted it. My dealer said he would do that for me if I couldn't get it running ok after break-in and oil change. But it is possible to get it running ok if you adjust the idle very carefully. But yeah the vm26 is going in mine soon too! I'm sure that's help.

      @@bwxmoto looks like the only downside to putting the Mikuni on is the choke handle relocation.

    • @bwx_gaming
      @bwx_gaming Год назад +1

      @@GMdieselman Yeah I wondering about that. I wonder if there's a way to use stock adjuster location somehow, I haven't taken it apart yet so not sure. I'm sure it'll be worth it to get rid of that hard starting and long warm-up though. Really I could keep bike stock and be pretty happy with it except for it being so cold blooded. The shock and fork springs will be nice for me, I'm about 165 lbs. I think that's about the upper limit of what stock springs can handle, it's not terrible though. Super fun little bike!

      I’ve never had a two stroke, I think I need one! But yeah even 125cc motocross bikes are pretty tall. I’m not even that short but where I usually ride it’s still a little too tall and just too big overall. That Beta X-Trainer has a 35.8” seat height but it’s still about 240 lbs wet. Still light but heavier than the 140. Different class of bike really and a lot more money. 💰 Looks like a fun bike though.

      @@bwxmoto is it must different from a manual car? Probably is idk I’m just curious I’m getting the 140 100% and it seems like a nice bike anything I should let my dealer know what to do before I buy it like height adjustments, carb adjustments or anything?

    • @bwxmoto
      @bwxmoto  Год назад

      @@angelshopov3844 Same principal as a manual car but you slip the clutch a lot more, and 1 click down, 4 up for gears. It's fun once you get the hang of it.
      Mine (2023) didn't start or idle well from factory. Usually you could adjust air-fuel mixture screw to help but that is blocked off with epoxy.
      Dealer mechanic couldn't even get it running quite right. After break-in and trying different things I ended up letting bike get quite warm, almost hot and then carefully adjusted idle (only available adjustment) so that it would idle but also not revv up on it's own. After that haven't touched it and it runs pretty good. Still needs choke on cold start, but that's normal.
      Dealer said they would drill out carb mixture screw epoxy and adjust that for me if I couldn't get it running right. I have a new carb kit with all the adjustments ready to go on but it runs pretty well now stock.
      No preload adjustment on forks but I think there is on rear shock, can't remember, but not easy to get to. Also rebound and compression damping on rear shock on mine, not sure about the R model. Should be good stock for your weight though until you start going faster off road.. Just keep an eye on tire pressure, make sure it isn't too much for dirt/ off road and you should be good.
      You can learn a lot from instructional youtube vids, but having someone experienced to help you with for the very first ride would probably be smart if you've never riding a motorcycle before. I'd take the bike to a large field or somewhere like that with no obstacles and soft ground to learn on the first ride. I wouldn't do it on a busy street or small area or on pavement and wear motorcycle boots/ helmet/ gloves/ etc.. You'll have a ton of fun!

    a question. what is the total price of a motorcycle like that

    • @bwxmoto
      @bwxmoto  Год назад

      Brand new I got it for $3600 plus tax and dealer fees. Retail price is in Kawasaki website. They have deals sometimes. Dealer fees and taxes vary by county, state, etc.. so out the door price depends a lot on your local tax and registration laws. Dealer fees are even governed by laws in some states apparently.
      But they wanted more than retail price for lightly used ones everywhere I looked and you still have to pay tax and registration on used ones if you want it to be a “legal” bike. I looked for months in the dead of winter and people want too much so I bit the bullet and bought a new one.
      Kinda glad I did! You never know what kind of problems a used dirt bike will have.

    • @bwxmoto
      @bwxmoto  Год назад +1

      I didn't get GPS data from gopro on that first ride. I think I accidentally deleted it. I'm going to guess on flat ground it'll do about 50 mph with my 165 lbs on it, (about 185 with gear) maybe down a hill 52 to 55 mph. But I'll have to do some real GPS testing to make sure. It's not a fast bike but it's faster than my 125cc pit bike and has more low end grunt.
      You can see what it looks like at close to full speed in the "part 2" vid. Short up-hill and down-hill run on pavement at 2m 25s in this vid: ruclips.net/video/jdsFhzJ1EZg/видео.html
