  • Hip hop crews. Why do they fail for the most part outside the main artist having success? We see this often in hip hop, and have been since the beginning of time. It doesn’t mean a member, or members of said crew may not grow to have success on their own. Today’s feature is one of a crew you could bet on in the early 2000s to be the next to do so and have a long shelf life, seeing as they had one of the top hip hop talents at the time in Ja Rule, who was also selling at a rapid rate, in a time guys like Jay-z and Eminem were still in their prime. Ja Rule could rap, sing, write records for both male and female, and perform like not many of his generation. They then had, at the time of her introduction into her prime, the hottest female act for all things not her vocal range. Ashanti was the girl all men wanted and women admired. You also had Charlie Baltimore, Christina Millian, also going platinum, Lloyd, and Vita. Murder Inc was a standout rap crew, led by an artist creating a wave that we still see in today’s hip hop and undeniable hit after hit. What Happened to Murder Inc? WHY HIP HOP CREWS FAIL: Murder Inc. What Caused Their EARLY DEMISE Stunted Growth Music

      It’s hard to say. Had they not gone thru what they’ve went thru we would’ve never gotten that New York record or the wonderful song. This is off the energy of Ja with his back against the wall to make songs for people to get back to liking him. 50’s run was short due to him beefing with every east coast rapper that was hot. Murder Inc growth was pretty much stunted by:

      50 had very little to do with Murder Inc's decline. The Federal Indictement is at the top of the list. The Feds basically bled out Murder Inc financially. Freezing their assets and also threatening any other record label that wanted to associate with Murder Inc during the Indictement period. Murder Inc's moves were checkmated by the Feds.
      Also during the Indictement, Murder Inc could not release any music and no distribution agencies wanted to work with them for fear of the Feds.
      50 cent simply took advantage of Murder Inc's problems with the Feds. 50 cent and his group G-unit capitalized on Murder Inc's inability to release any music during the Indictement period. So 50 really had no competition from Murder Inc during this period. G-unit easily released diss tracks and mix tapes directed at Ja Rule, Irv Gotti and to some small extent Ashanti but then Ja Rule could not really respond back as much as he wanted.
      So, since Murder Inc were unable to release music at that time, 50 cent begun to take a lot of their market share. People who had no idea of how a Federal Indictement works thought that Ja rule was being scared of responding to 50 cent but he simply couldn't because of the Feds.

    Why do you try and make it look worse than it was when it comes to Ja Rule. You did this last time with the title for his stunted growth. Yeah the beef with 50 Cent helped diminish their popularity but the beef with 50 Cent started way before 50 Cent even blew up and was known. Ja Rule was making classic hit records and doing movies and having major success without even responding to 50 Cent back at that point. The thing is the timing was just bad as the Federal investigation kept Ja Rule from really responding earlier when he wanted to. That caused people to side with 50 Cent as he was the new popular artist, so people were listening to everything he put out while Ja Rule wasn't able to say anything back during the most crucial time and by the time he did people had already taken sides. If Ja Rule responded when he wanted to, it would have gone differently. Blood In My Eye was originally supposed to be a mixtape but Def Jam wanted it to be an album instead. Also 50 Cent had the massive backing of his label Shady/Aftermath with Dr. Dre & Eminem who were two mega stars in music, it ain't like he was on his own, so there was no messing with the wrong one. Murder Inc made many classic hit songs and was successful for a long time, the label's career and legacy wasn't built off of and doesn't revolve around their beefs
    One big reason Murder Inc fell off was cause only Ja Rule & Ashanti were pushed and everyone else wasn't focused on in order for them to build a name for themselves. Caddillac Tah was supposed to release his album Pov City Hustler, Black Child also was supposed to put out an album and Vita & Charli Baltimore but neither of them did because Irv Gotti was only focusing on the label's two main stars who were selling millions of albums. If everyone else got to put out albums their popularity would've grew even more and there would have been more people to take over after Ja Rule & Ashanti

    Cause the only stars that murder inc. had was ja and ashanti ...and then ja started beefing with 50

    • @thuo1000
      @thuo1000 Год назад

      That is a very simple way to put it.
      The beef Ja rule had with 50 cent had very little to do with Murder Inc's decline.
      The Federal Indictement is what fucked up a lot of good things for Murder Inc.
      A Federal Indictement is No Joke.
      Basically, the Feds bled out Murder Inc financially. Not only that but the Feds also threatened any record label that attempted to help out or transact with Murder Inc during the Indictement period. Also, the Feds ensured that Murder Inc could not release any music until the trial was over. So artists like Ja Rule and Ashanti could not release any music because distribution agencies did not want to be linked with Murder Inc out of fear of the Feds.
      50 cent simply used this time as an opportunity to capitalize on Murder Inc's problems with the Feds.
      When Murder Inc could not release any music, 50 cent and his G-unit label took advantage and released a lot of music, albums, mixtapes and diss tracks to Ja Rule. Ja Rule could not really respond to the diss tracks in a timely manner like he wanted to because of the Federal Indictement. So people begun to think Ja Rule was a fraud and a pu$$y for not responding to 50 cent and G-unit diss tracks. This is how 50 cent begun to take Ja Rule and Murder Inc's market share.
      50 cent was at the right place at the right time.
      The Federal Indictement on Murder Inc worked very well in favor of 50 Cent.

  • @thuo1000
    @thuo1000 Год назад +2

    Murder Inc's decline and fall from grace had nothing to do with their beef with 50 cent, Eminem etc. The reason for their downfall was the Federal Indictement.
    A Federal Indictement is No Joke. The only way to beat the Feds is if you have long paper which Irv and Chris Gotti had. They spent tens of millions of dollars.
    Also during the trial, Murder Inc artists could not really release songs. Ja Rule and Ashanti who were the biggest Murder Inc artists could not release any songs because distribution companies feared working with them (because the Feds threatened anyone who associated themselves with Murder Inc during the Indictement period).
    Universal records were given a stern warning regarding transacting in any way with Murder Inc during the Indictement period.
    What 50 cent did was that he capitalized on Murder Inc's problems with the Feds. So when Murder Inc could not release music during the Indictement, 50 cent and his label G-Unit took advantage of that and popped really hard. People who were not aware of how a Federal Indictement works, thought that Ja rule was being reluctant in responding to 50 cent, Eminem etc and that is how 50 cent and G-Unit begun taking Murder Inc's Market share.
    Also the association of Supreme and J Prince with Murder Inc is what led to the Indictement in the first place. The Feds knew that if they bled Murder Inc dry financially, it would also deeply hurt Supreme and his gang's finances.
    The Federal Indictement is what killed Murder Inc.

    I don`t think 50 had as big of a impact in Murder Inc decline as some people think. Ja-rule started to decline substantially in popularity after like 3 or 4 platinum albums. Back then it was normal for a rapper to start to decline in popularity after 2 or 3 albums. I think people started to get tired of Ja-rule`s music because they felt the quality of his music decline. I think that had far more of an impact in Murder Inc`s decline then 50 cents. Tupac constantly dissing Biggie, and claiming he slept with his wife embarrassed Biggie in front of the world. But it did not cause a decline in his record sales. His second album sold better then the first. Tupac dissing jay-z at a time where Jay-z was not that big of a name in Hip Hop, did not have a negative impact on Jay-z sales. Jay-Z became a super star after Pac dissed him because Jay-Z music became a lot better. No matter how bad 50 dissed Ja i don`t think it had that much of an impact on his record sales, I think it was mostly Ja-rule music quality declining and the Feds messing with them.

    Irv Gotti was responsible for Jay Z and DMX getting their deals at Def Jam...he was a DJ and Producer for Mic Geronimo before getting his A& R gig at Def Jam...Irv Gotti low key was a beast beyond the boards...who was trying to orchestrate a super crew with DMX , Jay Z, and Ja Rule because Biggie tried to do it with the Commission and Dr Dre /Steve Stoute/Nas failed with the Firm...my only problem with your video is that you credited Russell Simmons with hiring Irv Gotti when in actuality , it was probably Lyor Cohen and/or Kevin Liles at this point...calling the shots at Def Jam on daily operations...Russell Simmons was basically the chairman of the board for Def Jam during the late 90's...he was focused on Def Comedy Jam/ Def Poetry Jam, making movies like " How To Be Player", and Phat Farm/Baby Phat...he even had a entertainment journalism show called "One World" on Fox , UPN, or WB at that time...I think that the " Crime Partners" movie with Supreme and Irv Gotti as executive producers really put the nail in the coffin...Murder Inc was wearing Black T shirts with Supreme Team in white letters in videos...that did not help their money laundering case...which is sad because I think that Supreme was trying to go legit but he got with his hand in the cookie jar and trying to administer street justice after the murder of his good friend Black Just...Irv and Ja being from Queens...looked up to him and he did bankroll Summer block parties where DJ Irv got his start ...you also left out that the fact that Irv was DMX's DJ at one point and Ja Rule was his hypeman...when " It's Dark and Hell is Hot" dropped...so they both saw how Dee and Waah made Ruff Ryders successful ...how Dame Grease and Swizz Beats worked in the studio...the parts the LOX and Eve played...how to piggyback promote artists..there was also a Death Row/ Tha Row connection with Suge Knight that did not help Murder Inc with 50 signed to Shady /Aftermath and even the whole thing with Benzino used his connections at the Source to get the whole Shady/Aftermath camp blackballed because he was friends with Irv Gotti and Ja Rule plus he hated Eminem and wanted to disrespect his protege 50 Cent!

      People were duped by 50 cent's image. Yet 50 then went ahead and stole Ja Rule's style of singing on hooks and choruses, something he accused Ja Rule of.
      Also remember that during this time, Murder Inc were going through a Federal Indictement. A Federal Indictement is No Joke. Basically, the Feds bled out Murder Inc financially and they also intimidated any record label that wanted to help out or transact with Murder Inc during that time of the Indictement. So artists like Ja Rule and Ashanti who were the popular Murder Inc artists could not release any songs since no distribution agency wanted to deal with them for fear of the Feds.
      It is why 50 cent had a very easy time attacking Ja Rule and releasing diss tracks and mixtapes aimed at Murder Inc. Murder Inc could not release any music so Ja Rule could not respond back when he wanted to. It is at this time that people begun to think that Ja Rule was a fraud and a pu$$y. Also it is the time when 50 cent and his G-unit label begun to take Murder Inc's market share.
      In the Music Industry, if you take a long hiatus (like Murder Inc did because of the Feds) then there is someone right behind to replace you. Basically, 50 cent was at the right place at the right time to capitalize on Murder Inc's problems with the Feds. Also 50 had the backing of Eminem and Shady Aftermath, Obie Trice and D12, and Dr. Dre.
