Awesome!! I love seeing anyone get into flint and steel...Outside of a lighter, it really is the most reliable fire starter. I was super lucky when I first tried as I used a thick bath towel for charcloth and a piece of broken 3/8 in thick file (thank you Great-Grandpa for saving it!) that I smoothed out one side of for steel with just some agate I found. Flint and steel sparks are much less hot than a ferro rod spark, so every advantage you can get helps! No commercially made flint and steel kits have come close to what I stumbled on...Anyway, love it! Great vid brother, I look forward to more.

Thank you so much for watching and commenting on my video!! I really appreciate it!! Yeah I really want to get a nice piece of flint and I have seen people break a piece of a old file and use it as a striker. Thank you again brother. Take care and stay safe

@@pareloader5989 the file is so much better than any commercial fancy flint and steel kit I've found. You can literally pick up a piece of quartz or chert off the roadside and bang a sharp edge on it with the file, then start a fire. I've tried new thinner files and they didn't work as well...perhaps the steel was just better back in the day but I think more surface area to create a spark helps too. Lol, I could go on and on...No need for thanks my friend. You present information in a way that everyone could benefit from!

Thanks for checking out my video! Yeah if you do any hiking or bushcrafting and you have a little just in case kit, add some to your kit. Works great.
