It seemed weird watching this one for the first time without him in it
@bobbymcbay15
🎃 He was just as much a staple as Michael Myers himself - in my opinion. He also had that Vincent Price vibe/charm to him that added an element of more mystique spookiness in the character development of Myers as the inhuman heartless psychopath that he is. 🤘🏻
Dr. Loomis was always the best character in the series for me. Laurie was completely boring.
OMG, I totally forgot that Janet Lee was in this. Jamie Lee's mother and famous for her role in Psycho!! Amazing!!
The car she drives away in is also the very same one from Psycho.
And some of Marion's score from Psycho plays in the background. Love it!
I thought that was her!
"I like her car".
I couldn't help but smile when J said that about Janet Leigh's car haha if you haven't seen the car before-- you'll probably see it again in another movie ;)
You can definitely spot the resemblance between Jamie Lee Curtis and her mother.
One of the OG Scream Queens
I honestly thought that was Cloris Leachman ngl...
The nurse in the beginning is the nurse in the the original Halloween. The one driving with all the patients loose and Micheal smashes the drivers window to try and pull her out.
Yup and she came back in Halloween 2 and was with Dr. Loomis and the US Marshall when they went to look for Laurie at the hospital
Jamie's mother was in the movie and had the original car from Pyscho, and she was the staring lady. 2 screams Queens.
@@Mattslittlesister55just wish she wasn't a weird pedo.
She was also in Halloween kills
Bitch gets killed in like 3 different timelines by the same guy. She needs some lesson from that Happy Death Day final girl.
The old secretary lady Norma, is Jamie Lees mom Janet Leigh, who is also Marion Crane in Psycho.
I think she was driving the same model car in psycho as well
And named after Norma Bates, Norman's mother.
The one arm he did, lowering himself is iconic. My opinion
He repeated it in HALLOWEEN: RESURRECTION
Older woman in the movie, Jamie Lee Curtis real mom. The woman with short blonde hair that is slim.
She had the fifties style car.
About 20 minutes in the movie
She was the lead actress in Psycho
The year of this movie with her mom was 1960
Judith was 17 when Michael killed her. Laurie was 17 when Michael Stalked her. John was 17 in H20.
So they were teenagers.
Bro thought came up with something 😂
@@jessediaz1293 No Bro. Some people watch these movies for the first time and dont catch on to some things. But thanks for the smart ass comment.
@@michaelpoore21 bro, I’m busting your balls. Chill, that’s why I put the laughing face thing 😂
@@michaelpoore21 I always wondered what the significance of the age 17 was with Michael. It's too bad they never told us lol
Josh Hartnett was in this, 40 day 40 nights, the faculty, the Virgin suicides, he was great in Pearl Harbor, Black Hawk Down
And the greatest film of all time, Hollywood Homicide. 😂
The movie Lucky number slevin is 😎
He should watch the faculty
Yes, J needs to see The Faculty!
I saw this in theaters when it first came out! It was really good!
The old woman with the blue and white car is Janet Leigh...not only she is the real life mom of Jamie Lee Curtis but she played Marion Crane in Psycho but the blue and white car is the same car she drove in Psycho as well!
Wasn't she the women who got stabbed 100 in bathroom scene
Yes she was!@@JamesDombroski-uw1po
Laurie in this film was more of a badass than the Laurie who locked herself away with a small armory.
Seriously, I have no idea what David Gordon Green was thinking when he made those 3 movies. The first one was GOOD, but it was so damn clunky and made so many weird story and character decisions that it really felt like I was watching a Halloween rip-off more than a proper continuation.
@@reservoirdude92 Greene's duology (gonna leave the third out for now) had the best Michael we've gotten in a long time. H20 had the better written Laurie. If there was a way to combine the two, that would be quite the film.
But you're right. The newest films were clunky at best.
@@jmsmys13ifyHalloween Kills just felt so unnecessary, especially since we knew before it was released that it was the second of a sequel trilogy.
Not only that, the whole "evil dies tonight" thing was so unbearably cringe, and the characters in it were BEYOND dumb. I mean, did those lunatics in Haddonfield not know what Michael Myers looked like? Also, Laurie and Hawkins' characterizations felt so undercooked and out of place.
The gore in the sequels was amazing though haha
No way Laurie was way more badass in the new trilogy!
I saw this at the movies back in 1998 when I was 21 years old with my Homeboy Jay Heath and we were going crazy in the theaters and we really really enjoyed ourselves a lot and this movie was off the chain too.
All I can say Jay is you are gonna love this one!🙂
It still gives me chills when Michael sees Laurie for the first time!
The next one, Halloween Resurrection, continues from this movie. Then it's two Rob Zombie Halloween movies. Then it's Halloween (2018), Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends - those three continue from the 1978 original only
and he can skip Halloween Ends unless he wants to watch the worst movie ever made
It's not the worst movie ever made. I liked that one. Kills is the hardest one to sit through@@Lions1986
I think he be okay skipping Rob Zombies Halloweens lol
I don't know. I bet we'd get a kick out of his reactions to those two lol@@EliteJCTV
@Lions1986 I don't understand the hate Ends get. Yall must not have seen parts 5,6,8 or RZ2. Shooting, sound, acting, directing alone make it a strong entry. It's A-ok if you don't like the movie, but it's pretty douchey to prewarn someone it's in amy way "the worst movie ever made".
Grow up kid.
Same director of Friday the 13th Part 2 and Part 3, Steve Miner. Later went off to direct Dawsons Creek also starring Michelle Williams (Molly in H20)
Josh Hartnett made a comeback to acting a few years ago. He plays an important role in Oppenheimer, and won an actors guild award for it.
He was great on Penny Dreadful too.
He was in Pearl Harbor, too.
Just to let you know. The woman who plays Jamie's secretary is her mother Janet Leigh( Psycho). Ha ha, You liked her car!
Josh Hartnett is still acting. He is in the Oppenheimer movie. Another good one is the Faculty, which came out around the same time as this one.
Yes, I love the Faculty
"Every moment the camera ain't on him he's running" 😂 me and my brothers used to make jokes about this all the time 🤣
John: “We’re through with all of that….”
EOM: “Nah….nah dawg we 20 minutes in…” 😂😂
H20 has the best ending to any Halloween movie, finally putting Michael's evil to an end and giving Laurie a chance to finally have some peace-Oh.
20 years later. 💯🍿
they did a poll amongst audiences and found out a large part of the halloween crowd were black, so they cast LL Cool J and featured him prominently on the poster and in the ads just to draw in the crowd. they did a similar thing with the next movie as you'll see soon enough although the next one unfortunately sucks.
It sucks but it's so damn fun 😂
Just realized that Michael slashed Laurie in the same arm he got her the first time. It was his very first attack on her in the original.
This film is one of my favorites it’s underrated i think alot of people crap on this too much I enjoy myself watching this which is what movies are all about ❤🎉 also the nurse in this movie was the same nurse in the earlier ones! Same character she survived the early one
can i just say i started watching you because I saw one of your thumbnails in my feed and it was so clever and funny that i had clicked and watched for that reason alone and ive damn near watched all your vids at this point....This thumbnail is a prime example of what the lil extra effort will bring...keep it up my friend and love to the daaaawgs...
Welcome to the family!
Whoever is making the thumbnails don't stop,i like these creative situations you put JL into.
Hi JL "I know crazy is hard to kill but crazy has to have a head"..... I fell out! That was hilarious . You killed me with that Bruh..... hands down I Loved that so much. I am much more of a Jason fan than Michael so I know Jason's story better . I have seen past Halloween H20 but that was a long time ago and I can not remember how things progress past Halloween H20 right now.... that would take me Googling and I do not want to spoil anything here .
I truly enjoyed Halloween H20 so much more with your reactions and comments JL . This was a lot of fun and I am glad I didn't miss it . Thank you so much for this . I am a slasher fan to and even if it's not Jason I am still up for it . Michael has his strong points and those can not be denied . I really am looking forward to seeing how Michael goes on without a head . Thank you again JL .
I watched this in the theater in 1998. Fun times!
been waiting for this one. I know it’s a little departure from the recent ones that Michael is just kinda ignoring some people to get to his sister but I kinda like how it’s sorta a throwback to the first one of him just stalking people during the day. I love the build up after the opening massacre. I’m not sure what the consensus was on the final confrontation with Michael and Laurie but it’s probably my favorite slasher fight, even if the next one did what it did. can’t forget the new rendition of the main theme by John Ottman(I think??). love listening to this version. I think, because of the popularly of Scream, they went heavy on “chase scenes” towards the end. hearing your opinions and reactions to the previous ones, I would constantly wonder “how he’s gonna feel about the scene from here?”.
The Faculty is another favorite 90s horror that stars Josh Hartnett. It's worth a watch.
22:50 I can't believe these two people weren't even as old as I am now when this was made.
Hanging out with Nancy's mom
LMAO
Halloween, Halloween II, and H20 will forever be my one and ONLY trilogy! Period!
Original 78 Halloween, 2018 Halloween, Halloween 4, 1981 Halloween 2 my Rushmore Halloween movies.
@@2KILLAVILLEyou've got great taste
@@2KILLAVILLE I like 4 too!
I love me some H20. It has my boo, LL, in it and if you take the OG, 2, and H20, you have the perfect Halloween trilogy. Good times!
Halloween II doesn't get nearly the amount of love it should. But honestly you're right, that actually IS the perfect trilogy. I wish I could say the same for the newer movies haha
LL is always a delight when he pops up in movies.
Thee trilogy 💯
@@reservoirdude922 was terrible
My favorite parts were the orchestrated version of the main theme, when Laurie and Michael come face to face, and the bit of music from _Psycho_ when Norma is walking to her car.
The way I understand it is, this one ignores 4-6 (and 3 since it was intended as something different altogether), and was meant to be the end of the story, but there was still money to be made so _Resurrection_ happened (spoiler: go in with very low expectations). The Rob Zombie versions are just a remake and its own sequel where he wanted to explore the psyches of Michael and Laurie, and the most recent trilogy is the "official" sequel that supersedes everything after the first film.
josh hartnet stared in an episode of black mirror recently, with aaron paul. a must watch! and i think he's also in oppenheimer.
Yeah he is in Oppenheimer. Didn't even recognize him for awhile, then I'm like wtf, is that Josh Harnet?
That thumbnail cracked me up man, good one. 😄👌
I must say that I love the way you insert yourself into your thumbnail images. So funny!😂
The way I imagined him doing the Get Out run and cackled when you said he is running when the camera is not on him!!
I saw this movie in the theater, and you were right: it was fabulous to see Laurie and Michael face to face again! This is my favorite, besides the first.
Best scene is when Laurie is holding the axe and yells Michaels name. Chefs kiss haha
The older woman who wished Jamie Lee Curtis a happy Halloween with the old car is Janet Leigh, she was Jamie Lee Curtis's mother in real life, she was also the woman who gets killed in the shower on the original Psycho movie and that was her car from the movie Psycho.
You are gonna trip when you see how they continue with Michael!
Loved your reactions to this one, lol. Keep them coming!
Sometimes I feel like these thumbnails are a special gift just for me 😂❤ When I tell you they make my day. I love y’all man!
This movie and Scream were both written by Kevin Williamson who also wrote Dawson’s Creek with Michelle Williams in it
Glad to see you do a reaction vid to this film, which falls into the H20 timeline - - H2, H2, H20, and Resurrection. As much as I liked this film, I didn't like how certain things were left unexplained - -
1.) Why Michael has perfect vision when Laurie shot him in both eyes at the end of H2
2.) What prompted Michael to look for Laurie after 20 years (after assuming for 19 years that she was dead)3.) Alluding to, but never fully explaining, the role that Loomis and Marion played in helping Laurie become Kerri
I remember when this came out it was a HUGE deal about showing ID for the movie. I was 16 and we had to get a friend to purchase tickets for us so we could sneak in. Also, Joseph Gordon Levitt was in a revival show of Dark Shadows in 1991. I was addicted to that show and hadn’t seen him until this movie came out. So if you want to see an even younger version of him check out Dark Shadows the revival. Oh, another fun trivia for this movie…the music is the exact same music they use in scream.
Josh Harnett was also in Lucky Number Slevin, and you will LOVE that movie!
The next one continues from this one, you’ll find out how soon.
Pay close attention to the opening, it will explain everything!
I remember seeing this one as a kid, scared me so bad back then.
If you notice in the background when Laurie was going to the restaurant and was looking in the window and got scared by the kids Michael was driving by! This is the first time I’ve seen that and I’ve seen this movie a lot and never caught that! That’s how he knew where she was. He seen her and decided to wait and follow her.
Someone's likely said this but I'll say it too. The next 6 movies are grouped in remakes. The next movie is a sequel to this one. Then there's the Rob Zombie remake that has 2 movies. Then there's 3 movies that are sequels to the first movie. It's not a continuous series like 1-6 were.
I'll have to say that this remake is my least favorite Michael of the series. Rob Zombie's version gets a lot of flack, but it's the brutality that you're looking for. And the modern remakes are the best following the first movie. I look forward to seeing your reaction to the rest of the movies.
"ya'll know she's ah drunk" lol
This is one of my faves in the franchise.
Same! This was my first time watching it & I love it.
He has the same haircut in The Faculty too
First off, I'm glad to say that I'm finally part of the Patreon family, and I've been absolutely LOVING the films you've been watching there. Your Thief, Apocalypse Now and The French Connection reactions are all-timers, for sure, and I can't wait to get into the others!
As for Halloween H20, I personally believe this was the last truly great Halloween film. It really captured the vibe of the original way better than Halloween (2018). Granted, that one was GOOD, but it was so damn clunky and made so many weird story and character decisions that it really felt like I was watching a Halloween rip-off more than a proper continuation. On that note, David Gordon Green shouldn't have been allowed to mangle the franchise the way he eventually did. And those sequels are GAAARRRBAAAAGE.
He only made his lack of competence show even more after that cinematic dumpster juice that was The Exorcist: Believer (if you want to properly utilize a couple hours, please do not watch that one).
Anyway, I guess I say all that to say I hope you really like this one and separate this Halloween universe from the one that ended up coming haha
Im so glad J liked this one! Jaime Lee Curtis as a badass woman was everything. Yes, when her and Michael faced each other my movie theater cheered 😊 it was such a moment!
8:49 That's actually Jamie Lee Curtis' mom Janet Leigh, the original scream queen from the movie Psycho.
4:36 I was waiting for you to say that " Thanks For Playing" , I even said it myself while waiting for you to say it lol 😃😁.
Cant wait to see this got my snacks ready
One of the ideas, too, for the movie was to make the friend Charlie a copy cat killer.
Laurie's secretary Norma is played by Jamie Lee Curtis' mom Janet Leigh. She's best known for her famous shower death scene in Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho, and she drives the same car in this movie that she did in Psycho. The name "Norma" is a nod to the character Norman Bates. They even briefly play the music from Psycho when Norma is walking to her car.
for josh harnett check out 'the facutly', '30 days of night' 'hollywood homicide' and i forget the rest. The faculty isn't quite a slasher but is it very horror themed and a few people do die so you could do it one slasher saturday. a famous r&b singer is in that movie as well as some other famous people and its just a really good movie.
Lol Usher
The next and eighth installment is Halloween Resurrection which will explain how crazy never lost his head. It needs to be seen to believe. Glad you’re watching and reacting to the Halloween franchise. Looking forward to seeing more. Take care. - Gene As.
That lady that said “We’re all entitled to one good scare”- was actress Jaimie Lee, Jaimie Lee Curtis mother. They also played together in Johnny Carpenters “The Fog”
Janet Leigh. Not Jamie.
L.L made through Halloween AND Deep Blue Sea.
I love that
Resurrection continues after this one but trust me they *do explain it* with the missing head thing. You'll see. 😉
ahh my fave halloween simply for the sake of teenage nostalgia seeing it in theatres with friends
Want more Josh Hartnett? Well then we gotta watch 30 Days of Night
"So how are we going to have more Halloweens?" That's one of those questions to which when you get the answer you will wish you never asked in the first place.
The scene where the lady who scares Jamie Leigh Curtis is actually her real life mother! If you listen carefully as she goes to her car (which was the one used in Psycho) you can hear a little Psycho theme music play!!!! You are my FAVORITE reviewer by the way so funny and entertaining!!!! Sorry for the repeat, I see someone mentioned this already but it’s worth repeating!
“What happened to carving the pumpkin?” 🤣
Oohhhh you must watch The Faculty!!! Has Josh Hartnett in it. It's a cult classic!!!
Josh Hartnett was in Lucky Number Slevin with Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman and Ben Kingsley. It's a really good movie and I believe you would enjoy watching it.
Imagine if the teens were watching the first Scream movie, the part where Randy is talking about the rules.
Lol right
John Carpenter confirmed that Halloween(1978), Halloween(2018), Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends are cannon.
Watching this in the theater was so much fun!
Love this movie. My big sister and I went to see this in the theaters back in the day
This is definitely the beginning of one of the new timelines and I have a feeling that there's another new timeline coming ether sooner or later which is the 50 anniversary or maybe even a few years before that great reaction sir keep up the great work god bless
14:17 That came outta nowhere LOL
I’m gonna say it a million times: best reaction channel, hands down. Just goes to show that just because many people may already be doing the same thing, doesn’t mean you can’t come in and switch the whole game up by doing it better than the rest!
You'll be mad when you find out how Michael returns 🤣
Let’s go,I’m so ready for this!
I can't wait for you to see the Halloween from 2018. It follows the original and ignores the sequels.
My favorite one
This is a sequel 1981's Halloween II. Just so you know, buddy.
The director of Halloween H20 also directed Friday The 13th Pt.2 and Friday The 13th Pt.3. Mr. Steve Miner.
21:48 I’m confused why Scream 2 is on tv since the Halloween series are movies in Scream.
I know it’s a fun nod, but it doesn’t make sense since Scream plays on the meta trope and its adamant part of the story and structure of the Scream franchise.
Josh Hartnett still acts. Last couple of things I’ve seen him in recently was Oppenheimer and an episode of Black Mirror
Hi Jay. Thanks for another great reaction. This came out when i was 19 and you can really feel the influence from Scream, as Kevin Williamson wrote both (+ scream 2, which made that clip a fun addition).
Not sure how far ahead you are on Patreon, and you may have already gotten this feedback, but I'll advise you to be cautious with comments and spoilers on here. The last entry (Halloween Ends) is a bit divisive. Personally i find parts 5,6 and 8 to be poorly made and full of holes, but they have their fans and good for them. The trilogy of 2018, Kills and (especially) Ends aren't everyone's cup of tea, but they're well directed, acted, edited. The sound is great, etc. But the people who DONT like the last one will go out of their way to spoil it for you. It's incredibly obnoxious and i really don't get it. You may hate it too but as a fan for over 35 years it's my 4th favourite after 1, 2 and H20. My bf just watched them all for first time and its his 2nd fave after OG. So please just enjoy the rest of the franchise and make your own decisions.
Thanks again my good man. x
The old woman with the car you liked (which is the same car from Psycho) is Janet Leigh, Jamie Lee’s mom, from Psycho! 😊
This is the perfect end of halloween 78-H2-H20.
Yay!!!! I've been waiting for this! The theater was Lit when this came out❤
This movie was the perfect end to the Laurie & Michael story. This was also my first Halloween sequel to see in theaters. I was very young. Maybe it’s a bias but I prefer it over many others.
But weird for them to have Scream in the movie since they acknowledge that Halloween is just a movie in their movie. Meaning they know Jaime Leigh Curtis and such. Still a fun shout out I guess.
20:49 lmfao michael a prankster
Dope Thumbnail dude
one of my favorite josh hartnett movies was the faculty and also he was in black hawk down
