- Presenting Space Patrol 2100 Episode 5 “The Incredible Shrinking Martian”. When the Asteroid Palace Satellite Dish stops sending a signal, Colonel Raeburn orders Galasphere 347 to investigate. Captain Dart and crew discover a meteorite has severely damaged the dish and recommend an engineering team make repairs. Husky keeps a piece of meteorite as a souvenir. Back aboard the Galasphere, a sharp edge of the rock cuts his finger while he’s showing it to Dart. Husky falls ill and upon returning to earth, begins to shrink. If the doctors can’t stop his shrinking, he’ll soon disappear. The cure lies within Loomie pebbles found on Jupiter. Can Dart and Slim find a pebble before Husky vanishes into nothingness? The original Space Patrol is a British science-fiction television series written and produced by Roberta Leigh, featuring marionettes. It was produced in 1962 and the 39 episodes were broadcast from 1963 to 1968. Voices & sound effects are from the original TV broadcast. There are content alterations and additions. The original episode is entitled “The Shrinking Spaceman”.

For those of us a certain age this is an amazing remake of a fondly remembered classic children's television show. You guys are brilliant incorporating the original soundtrack into your vision.Thanks for your remake of Fireball xl5,it would be awesome what you could do with Stingray. It became available on Amazon Prime for about 2 months in 2021. I binged watched the whole series and by the end knew I wanted to reanimate the show. I do miss making Fireball XL5 but copyright restrictions make it nonviable.
I always look forward to one of these episodes so thank you for all the hard work you put in on them. Nice guest appearance by Space Doctor Venus in this episode.

The producer of Space Patrol Roberta Leigh worked with Anderson and his business partner Arthur Provis on the productions of "The Adventures of Twizzle, and Torchy the Battery Boy.
Leigh parted company with Anderson after the first season of Torchy.
Provis worked with Anderson on Four feather Falls then left to rejoin Leigh on the production of Space Patrol.
So you CAN see that this and the Anderson productions share evolutionary roots.

Very much worth the wait. Lots of eye candy. Good story. Reminds me of the movie The Incredible Shrinking Man. He has to vanquish a spider while big enough to handle it and still shrinking. Then he walks through the mesh in a window screen into an unknown future. A rather bleak future. Terrifying.

What kept me from doing it was the cost of the spider prop and I already had a dream sequence with the robot nurse. Since Husky kept talking about pretty nurses and Marla & Cassie I felt it was more in line with the original story. I thought about adding the spider in a dream when Husky was in the Cryogenic unit, but I don't think you dream while in an inanimate state.

Brilliant, I remember the original-they could not really realise Husky shrinking so they just had his head peeking out of the bedclothes.

When creating this episode, I thought the animation software would allow me to shrink Husky by morphing the character. (That's taking a normal size Husky and altering his height to a smaller Husky using a morph slider so you can see him visually shrink in real time.) However, the software morphs didn't work with height. I could alter any of his body parts such as give him a big nose or make him fatter, but I could not reduce his height. I found myself in the same predicament as the original production: how do I show Husky shrinking when I can't shrink him. So I decided on creating a smaller version of Husky (he's about 3/4 of his normal size) and tuck him under covers like the original and was thankful they chose to freeze him to stop the shrinking process. Fifty years later from the original production and I still used the same solution they came up with. 😊

For this episode, I did the Comm officer, added Husky voice and Nurse Ratchet the robot. My wife was Nicole and sexy nurse. Voice morphing software allows me to alter pitch and tempo. Be sure to look out for Episode 6 "Coldfinger" which should be released soon.
The background music to the cityscape sounds like Kraftwerk.

Went the nurse tell husky that nurse Ratchet will come to give him his sponge bath, I was imagining it will be someone / something (robot) that looked nurse Ratched, from the movie 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" Ouch for poor Husky ...

If I may recommend another Anderson show to animate: Four Feather Falls. Also, could you perhaps animate music videos for Anderson shows, for songs like Kate Kestrel's songs from Terrahawks or the Four Feather Falls songs?

They allow a remake like mine to remain on RUclips but keep all revenue generated from advertisements. Also, RUclips frowns upon copyrighted material on a RUclips channel (like mine) and will suspend my ability to monetize if my channel has too many copyrighted videos. So, the time and effort in creating new XL5 episodes or any other Anderson production has lost all incentive. This is unfortunate but there is nothing I can do.
