At the Goodwill I stumbled upon an adorable wooden chair designed for kids. Its folding mechanism was so intriguing that I decided to combine it with the classic Trieste wooden chair's design to create something distinctive. Chairs are inherently challenging to design because they require a balance between form and function. However, drawing inspiration from both chairs, I was able to use a blend of calculated guesses and serendipity to craft a sleek and contemporary folding chair.

Funny because I grew up in Denmark in the 1960's and this exact style of chair, in adult size, was one of the most common spare chairs people would keep in the garage, a spare room, basement or the likes, for when having parties and needing extra chairs. They were typically made from beech wood and some versions even had a slim 'tongue and grove' carved into the length of the main rail/leg so they stacked nicely against each other when folded up. Because they were made from quality wood they were extremely strong and therefore loads of them still exist today.

This style of folding chair reminds me of all the holidays my family has celebrated over the years.
My aunt and uncle who host Christmas, Thanksgiving, and some other holidays got about 15 of these at least 2-3 decades ago from one or more churches he preached for

I've moved around endless numbers of the adult sized version of that chair. Exact same look. Back in the 80s and 90s everyone had a pile of those handy for when you had extra guests. For larger parties it was far from uncommon to borrow a pile from several nearby neighbors.

Got a trick for you with that bending the ruler to trace a curve thing. Take the appropriate length quick grip clamp and put your straight edge in the jaws. Then when you slowly squeeze the handle you change the bend of the arc. You can do it one handed so you can trace it yourself.

The most impressive part, or craziest, is that you went at it by building on the fly rather than designing in some kind of SAD software first.
Edit: LOL, wrote this before you made the software design comment.
Also the reference design from 1966 seems ironic because it looks like the designer of that chair was going for a folding chair design without it actually being a folding chair.
