I love the Gladius, too. I had the slightly better Gladius Valiant a couple years ago, and the extra thrust was a nice touch. Seems like it takes a good beating in 3.23.1, and also has a very minimal silhouette.
I'm checking out this x4 game lately that I bought back in beginning of 2022, I know you're not into single player, but it's pretty sweet dude. Breath of fresh air to be able to play without bugs, too.

The sound design on the gladius is absolutely 10/10. The afterburner sounds so beefy. Even the quantum has this deep bass no other ship has. Gladius isn't super meta, but it is very fun to fly.

Gladius is top Tier
Just started the game and have an Avenger Titan, I chose it cause it's supposedly the best all round starter with it's ability to perform multiple roles getting your feet wet. If I were to look at fighters which is the best buy for a new player, the Arrow or the Gladius?

Missiles in SC are just god awful. They wanted a dogfight game abd they just can't seem to fibd a way to integrate missiles in that vision that works.
That is NOT the way to say quarreler lol

The only fighter ship I've purchased is the Gladius and I have the snow camo paint. I'd love to get the pirate variant at some point. I might pick a new paint for mine some time soon.

Check out the solar winds paint for gladius, I like it a lot.
I do wish the Pirate gladius paint looked more "worn in" and less plasticy and clean
