@@jessemoog5310 as far as I’m aware, all the band members had video monitors to watch him at the angles which they couldn’t see him, probably used this to time the sound perfectly to match the steps
He originally wore it to hide his skin changing (it started on his hands, chest, and around his face like under his eyes) he covered everything else in makeup during the late 70s early 80s. And MJ had his own stylist who made his clothes. He didn't like normal clothes (T shirt and jeans) he liked costumes cause it made him feel like someone else.
I saw him 3 times, bad, dangerous and history. More than happy to chat if you would like to know what it was like.

The jacket was part of the song folklore. Motown 25 anniversary. He wore a similar jacket for that performance and was the biggest star not in the world but in world history at that very time. He debuted the moonwalk on TV for the 1st time. And the performance went down in history. So this night was an updated recreation. This is why everyone went crazy for the jacket and hat. The glove was for his skin condition and ended up becoming his trademark. We all got a left handed sequin glove for Xmas as Kids. Everyone wanted a Billie Jean jacket but the one from the video and the jacket from the Thriller video. You were cool if you had the OFFICIAL jacket😎😂

There's NO SINGER/DANCER/PERFORMER that comes close to the King of Music!! Period. Chris Brown is a good dancer, Usher, Brittany(younger days) but to encompass dance and music and singing under one umbrella. They couldn't last one lengthy song and that's FACTS!
He wore a white glove, white socks and white shirt with everything else black, because when dancing billie jean, you know, at the end when all lights are off except for the one spotlight on him, it cretes a visual illusion. I feel like you can't see it very well on video, but I can only imagine how amazing it would've been to see that live.
His makeup artist said sometimes he wouldn't wear the glove, so instead he used white tape on his fingers.
But yeah, it's for visual illusion, kind of like nowadays when artists or mostly their dancers have white lights on their costumes
