Thanks! To me song order it's about choosing a flow that makes the album complete as a whole and tells a story. How each song goes into one and out of the other.
Hey Brian. I honestly haven’t used Ozone that much to give a fair opinion. I usually use everything in the box from studio one. Regarding per track or post I would try Post first and then tweak as needed. I have heard great things about ozone, though as a lot of peoples go to Mastering plug-ins.
Nice video. I'm just about to master 11 songs with the project page in Studio One. So, these tracks were already mastered and individually limited to -14 LUFS before you then adjusted the volumes to keep them consistent in this project? Or, is this technically, remastering? I've tried to keep all my songs in the -4 to -7dB range (on the Main Fader) to leave room for limiting during mastering and I've been using Ozone Mastering Suite to do practice masters. I'm finding I'm pushing the limiter really hard to keep up with current release loudness levels.
Hi! Yes it's definitely a challenge keeping up with these loudness levels. Most of the songs I had already mastered but not using the project page. I had released them as singles and then applied mastering to the main outs within the song page. When the client wanted to do the entire album together she additionally gave me some songs that I haven't done. So it was a matter of getting all the levels consistent with the songs I had previously done and the new ones she had recorded elsewhere. Does that answer your question?
Hi Ron, as far as I know there is no difference between putting the limiter on the Master's pre-fader versus the post. If adding more effects in on the pre, I think you could put the limiter on the post as a safety net to make sure nothing goes over.
The post is overall for all of the songs. If you master just one song it doesn't matter. If your doing a print of more than one song then it makes I difference. So if you have two songs don't put a limiter on each song. Put the limiter on the post and the level as close as you can.
So basically you made a complete album mastering for… almost free ? What’s the idea ? Are you in the business of pro recording/mixing/mastering ? Why would any pro tell a client it’s gonna be so fast and perfect it will cost you 1/5 of what other pro mastering would cost ? What if I could make it in 30 minutes, would I get your clients to work with me instead ?

@@MillerMusic I understand what you meant to do. But telling your client that you could master all her album for less money you did for her singles Is paradoxical. What will you charge her next time for her mastering since you can do it all for almost free ? Your good will and devotion created a precedent where you undermined the value of your work and other mastering techs.

What is the advantage of putting the Limiter in the Master's Inserts rather than Post?
