I really enjoy watching your videos. As a novice using Studio One, I appreciate the way you explain the keyboard commands and the mechanics of what you are doing. Other videos make many changes so fast and do not explain how to actually do them. You do a great job! Thank you very much for what you do!
That was an amazing tutorial! I am going to check out your other videos right now. This is one of the clearest tutorials on Studio One I have found so far. Well done!
Very informative, clearly spoken, voice is well recorded with great articulation and no unnecessary environmental reverberation muddying things up! Allows time to digest subject information, and can easily be paused after each step without losing your place! One of the best RUclips clinicians encountered to date! Thank you!
I just started using Studio one yesterday. thanks to your videos, im now more comfortable in it than I ever was in the years I was using pro tools. thank you sir, your videos are great!
Love your videos - practical, useful and easy to follow. I searched for along time to find someone who will just provide information instead of blather - you done it! BTW, thanks for the mastering video that was also tremendously helpful.
Since signing up to Sphere, I'm now a Pro user... and of course, the project page wasn't available to me in Artist. So this was a great intro into it. And yes, a deeper foray into mastering using the Project page would be great to see :-)
Yes Much Enjoyed your Offering here. I am a 65 yo got to learn and do before I die sort. Deep Diving into the Basics of the Logic in Studio On v6.52 for weeks now and am creating song using everything everyone in the community has offered. I did the hard stuff first learning guitar, theory, sound design then my studio & treatment. 7 years in the making. Rubber is now meeting the road. Thanks. For ALL you do Mike, Chin up
Really enjoyed this and learned a lot. I'll find the Mastering video to watch. I'd like to know about levelling up the loudness so that all track in the project play at the same level, and also more about LUFS: streamers' requirements and how to adjust set the levels
thanks mike for such a great and detailed video on the project page. Would absolutely love to see you do a tutorial on mastering using this Porject page in S1. I know you have done quite a lot of tutorials already on mastering in cakewalk, but would love to see your approach and how you use the metering tools in S1 project page. Thanks ....looking forward to that video.
I posted another comment below about topping and tailing on the project page. I also had a very difficult time doing the topping and tailing because for some reason when my song files were exported on to the project page, they seemed to default (for some reason), to five minutes in length. (I created them as "empty songs"). You can imagine how tedious the topping and tailing was because my songs are typically 3.5 minutes long! As I said below also, now I can't reopen the songs on the regular song page. Again, Mike you are a great teacher and speaker, (but I wish I could find some consistent technical support for Studio One). Thanks again for reading.
Mike you explain everything really well, I'm a beginner to recording in studio one and need a lot of help, all my finished mixes don't sound right and keep clipping even though my volumes are low and the vocals and tracks don't sit in together properly.
MIKE----you have a good instructor style and NOT rushed, the latter, being a real PLUS. Too many of them seem like they are in such a hurry, so to me, why bother doing one! I would like to see someone do a Video on the three plugin areas, Inserts, Master and Post, and see at least what the philosophy of which "TYPE" plugin you'd use for each of these, to feed my curious nature. Not as much actual plugin, but what type/category as stated------EQ, compressor, and "color" plugins, etc. I have Ozone 9 Advanced which I do use as an Insert and do their Asst run, and see what they come up with, also using a -1.0 peak rather than a half. There are NOT a lot of GOOD Project Page tutorials and Vids on YT.
Hi Mike really enjoying the videos, great work indeed. I was just wondering if there was any plugin in particular that would change a male recorded voice to female. I have looked at a few, changing pitch etc. but I'm honestly impressed with none of them. So if you can recommend anything that will do what I am looking for, I would be most obliged. Thanks again, all the way from Ireland....Pat Shannon.
Excellent video bro... So my question is at the end you were talking about distro kid but you had it at 16 bit.. What bit do you use for the streaming services?? I know any cd stuff goes on 16 bit. Is 24 bit cool for Distro Kid?? I'm about to join but I haven't yet? Thanksss Stay Up
Very nice tutorial, packed with useful information: Thanks I'd like to ask you; I mastered my songs with Emastered, now, how to I transfer (import) them back into Studio One to proceed with the project page. Thanks a lot.
Many, many thanks for getting me hip to this project page, Mike. High time I learned it. Been going about mastering the old fashioned (i.e., HARD) way, avoiding the learning curve. Eager to start playin' widdit now. Cheers!
Hey Michael! Great Video - many thanks for that! I have one question though: I use Studio One 4 ARTIST - when I load the program and the start screen appears, I don´t have the icon "NEW PROJECT", only "NEW SONG". Is this feature for creating DDP´s exclusive for Studio One PRO users? Thank you! Best regards from Vienna!
My question is when you spend all the time checking The fades and spacing between each song for an EP or Full length album, how does that info get transferred to streaming services so it plays from track to track exactly how it laid out. If I want more space at the end of song before next track starts do I need to adjust track markers ? Where does that 2 seconds between each track come in to play? I can find no info on this aspect regarding Project part of Studio One. An extension of this discussion is preparing this for an LP. Each side of LP has to be done as a whole correct? How do I do this?
Hello Mike, so when would you use the Master Inserts? Or would you bypass it and just use the Master post instead? Not sure on way there are two Master inputs.
Thanks Mike....was wondering if there is a way to get the 10 songs I've loaded into the project page to come out as the 10 individual songs when using the Imaging function..when I burn onto a cd it works fine but imaging just gives me a 50 minute long track with no breaks.
When I grab the waveform to move it closer to the track marker (13:21) the marker moves left as well - is there an additional key I need to hold down in order to just have the waveform move?
I am relatively new with Studio One and Project Page, (a couple months). Have a question for anyone if possible. I tried to create a four song (covers), project and a couple things happened, (that were not good). One; one of my songs (when I was doing the topping and tailing in the project page), started for some reason playing at like double speed. Now it appears to be stuck going about 30 percent faster than it should. Any comment on that? Two; Now it appears for all songs I pulled into the project page, that I can't go back into the regular "song section" and make any changes! (When I go back to the browse/mixing page, they simply will not save). Mike you are a great teacher and you present concepts and explain things very well. However, I am very new to DAW's in general and I currently have some real reservations about my choice of Studio One, (as opposed to Pro Tools). My reason is that in my area nobody seems to really be able or qualified to provide any real support for Studio One. (Also I have found that contacting PreSonus for tech support is not that easy. Thanks.
Thanks. Another great one Mike. So do I need to worry about adjusting the sample and bit rate if I want to burn a CD? How does that affect the quality? Is that when you dither?
Yes. For CD adjust the bit depth to 16 bit and 44.1khz sample rate. It will slightly affect the quality if you're going from 24 bits because you have to dither and resample information.

I would like to see your mastering. Thx 🙂
