Abigail Janik yes!! It’s so frustrating when people judge others for liking mainstream musicals. The reason they’re mainstream is because they’re good, and your opinions on musicals shouldn’t define your personality.
Hamilton has several inaccuracies but is still amazing. Here are a few of the main historical inacuracies. Angelica was married to John Church before Hamilton met either her or Eliza (however a scandal was posted in a tabloid years later. It's pretty accepted that it's not true) Hamiton was not the Second at the laurens/Lee duel John Lauren's was at the battle of York Town Hamilton actually would leave work early to spend time with his family. He loved them and spent every free second with them. Work came second, family first. Hamilton had eight children, not two. Hamilton was not sent home by Washingron, but quit because he was tired of Washington not respecting him. The Election of 1800 happened in... 1800 while Philip didnt die until 1801 (after which Angelica Hamilton went insane out of grief) It wasn't the election of 1800 that caused Burr to duel Hamilton but the Senatorial election of 1804. Hence, Hamilton died in 1804. Burr never showed remorse like he did in the musical. This is a list of all the main points I could think of. If anyone has anything else feel free to add!
Jamie Dawn there were a couple of these I hadn’t heard of and am now super interested in researching, but this is a fantastic list! I think another thing to note would be that Philip Schuyler did have sons, but Lin chose to ignore them for the sake of time (since obviously you can’t develop a million different characters in 2ish hrs) and chose instead to have Angelica represent the plight of many aristocratic women of the time. (Satisfied-“my father has no sons, so I’m the one who has to social climb”) Also Jefferson did not help with the French Revolution like is implied in What Did I Miss. He was back in America around 1784-1785 and the French declaration/Revolution started in 1789

I thought in the show it shows his 8 children. Also, Peggy introduced Eliza to Hamilton, not Angelica and there was a fourth Schuyler sister, but she was much younger I think so I'm guessing they weren't AS close. I think her name was Catherine. But props to Lin because he managed to maintain a sufficient amount of accurate information and facts in a musical. He stayed true to the real storyline.* unlike the Percy Jackson movies ahem*
@@saanvihombaiah9939 the only child mentioned by name is Philip and he says "I have a sister but I want a little brother" and then later Burr I think it was said "I hope you save some money for your daughter and son" insinuating that there was one of each. I could bewrong, but I thought Eliza's interest in hamilton stemmed from her time with her Uncle at Morristown (who was Washington's doctor). Hamilton wrote letters to Peggy asking for advice, but I wasn't aware that they knew each other. Catherine's was an infant during the war. (Hence the story of Peggy risking death to save her sister from her cradle downstairs mid attack)
the only reason people don’t like hamilton is because a lot of people like it. just because a lot of people like one musical doesn’t mean that you have to dislike it. it’s an amazing musical
This was my mind set with the HP (Harry Potter) books, but I finally decided to read them and loved them. Sometimes you choose to dislike something because then you can disagree with people.
I absolutely disagree with "The only good part of Be More Chill is 'Michael In The Bathroom'". A lot of people hate on it, but I absolutely love the musical! Sci-fi is one of my favorite genes in media so a sci-fi musical is RIGHT up my alley

TPC is my favorite song from BMC so I do like TPC a little more than MITB but every, and I mean *every* song from BMC is absolutely amazing! My dream role is a female Squip lol
Yes!!! it gets such a bad rap, but the story is actually really good and interesting, and the show is a lot more deep and meaningful than people make it out to be. Plus the music is amazing!

I agree that people who only listen to the more mainstream musicals are just as valid as anyone else. For me "the big four" (i.e. DEH, BMC, Heathers and Hamilton) were the musicals that got me into theatre in the first place because songs from them became mainstream and they inspired me to research where they came from. Nowadays I don't listen to them very much and I don't like them as much compared to other musicals, but I can still see why they appeal to others, especially given that 3 of those 4 musicals are about teenagers facing the emotions and problems that teenagers face. It still kinda irks me how people act like these are the only musicals that exist, but overall I respect anyone who likes these musicals, and I recommend finding other shows that share similar themes or ideas.
The one about not liking Les Mis got me angry. Also, why does everyone love Anne Boleyn so much? Sure shes fun and all but Katherine Howard and Parr went through the worst pain
I don’t judge anyone for only liking popular modern musicals, but sometimes I wish that more musical theatre fans would talk about Sondheim or other older musicals so that I could have someone to geek out about those shows with 😂
Anne Boleyn is overrated. Her song is fine, but Six is the best song. Katherine Howard is underrated, and her real life story is better too. She was raped and lost her life for it. Tell me I’m wrong, I dare you.
I think that parr is the most underrated. I love her and while howard totally had the worst life,parr had a pretty bad life too. Too he honest all the wives except for cleves!
Unpopular opinion (Kat Steele already has a whole video on this one) Cosette is actually a decent character. I know we're led to think of her as this helpless damsel in distress who only gets the guy because she's "nice and hot", and her character pales in comparison to Eponine, a significantly more dynamic/well-rounded woman. But that's not exactly the truth. Cosette isn't the way she is because the world is made of rainbows and sparkles, but because she is an optimist by CHOICE. She is SELFLESS. She sees the crap going on around her and somehow remains strong and positive. On top of that, her dad ran out on her, and her mom died, making life already tough as is! (Also, on the flip side, while I do somewhat agree that Heather McNamara is a sweet lil cinnamon roll, I can't fully go along with it because of her obvious suicidal thoughts and tendencies)
Here’s one unpopular opinion: if tying was possible at the Tony Awards, “Dear Evan Hansen” and “The Great Comet of 1812” should have tied for Best Musical and Best Score. (Also, “The Great Comet” should have won Best Orchestrations.)
4:40 a lot of people don’t know this but when Angelica says “My father has no sons” that is historically inaccurate. There were actually 11 sons, 14 kids in total.
about people who aren't into theater using showtunes in their tiktoks, i think it's pretty fine, like you said, the more people that listen the better, BUT my problem is when people who make fun of theater or bully people for liking theater use those sounds and are still bashing theater. idk it's weird to me
Bootleg six helped me on my birthday as I was meant to see it on broadway but I couldn't because of corona also Parr is the best character and has the best song and you can't can't convince me otherwise
1:I kind of agree about DEH, but only because I'm huge Great Comet stan so I'm a little biased... 2: It's not "basic" to like popular musicals at all! 3: From what I've heard, Be More Chill sounds kind of weird plot-wise and I'm not sure why but everytime I hear any song from it I just start laughing because sometimes it just makes no sense and is so random. (I haven't given it a full listen-thru yet tho so I can't really judge it.) 4: I think Hamilton is amazing, and it's not that Hamilton is over-hyped, it's that other shows that are just as good are under-hyped. Everything Lin writes is absolute perfection tho. 5: Personally, I love No Good Deed and feel like it should be the big song, but I do get that Defying Gravity is the 1 act finisher, so it makes sense. 6: I've never listened to Waitress (I have weird taste in musicals) but from just the title it sounds like the boring, " A Sentimental Man" of Waitress. 7: I agree that the lyrics of Six aren't always the best and sometimes I cringe, but I looooooove six so much because the music and the concept is just so cool. 8: I think the songs in Wicked are great, but the whole animals being silenced plotline is kind of a little too on the nose for my taste and not very well-developed. ...and Something Bad is really really really really really a horrible song. 9: I think that both are in the wrong, but I don't think that Regina isn't a villian. 10: I kind of disagree, but it is very irritating when your favorite song is super popular but no one knows the context and they all think it's "from tik tok". 11: Within the context, it kind of makes sense, but it's really just a great excuse for all the queens to have their awesome crazy chaotic song. 12: YES! Nessa is a great role and has so many interesting ways an actor could interpret her! 13: Yeah, but I think in most instances it doesn't matter too much. For example, Angelica says, " My father has no sons so I'm the one who has to social climb for one." When in reality...he had 15 sons. I think Lin is aware of this tho, he just thought it sounded better that way. 14: At first, I hated Les Mis, but after listening to the songs, I fell in love with the show. 15: Honestly, I know you're supposed to root for Hamilton, but I can't help but feel like Burr is the main character in my mind. ( I only tolerate Hamilton cuz it's Lin) I mean, during Say No To This. He's just like, "Well, nothing I can do about this, I'll just let her seduce me." Ummm...How about stay faithful to your wife?!?! 16: I've never listened to Music Man, but even tho I love Beetlejuice, some of the songs can be a little meh. 17: I highly disagree. She's great, but something about Sophia Anne Caruso just really captures the character of Lydia in a different way. 18: I agree, but I think that selling bootlegs is wrong. Also, if the actors express hatred towards bootlegs, don't film. I wouldn't ever film one, but I do occasionally watch them... 19: Well, I think more specifically, Millie, who I'm not really a fan of. The character I like, but I prefer Andrea Macasaet a lot more to her because Millie just isn't the strongest singer. She has great acting skills tho so idk 20: I don't really like A Very Potter Musical, but i've never seen cursed child so I can't judge... 21: definitely true! Although many do.

I personally think the fact that a musical is overrated is no reason to not like it if you haven't listened to it. That's really annoying to hear for me.
I'm one of those people who got into some musicals because of Tik Tok. Because a lot of times I don't recognize a song I look it up. Then when I find it was from a musical I must listen to the whole thing and tend to get really into it.
Your videos (and one woman performances of assorted musicals such as Hamilton and all the parts in Six) have kept me sane as I haven't left my house in a week Plus I'm like "AGHH" every time someone says something I strongly disagree with (like Hamilton is overrated, I understand, but see my profile picture people) Ahh this was a really long comment but okay I guess this comment will just go on for forever

So me as a theater and history nerd, I think I can say something to the hamilton thing: There are some historically inaccurate things in hamilton, for example did philip schuyler have sons and five daughters and angelica was already married when alexander and she met. But the main parts are right, it's just about some details I think.
In general, it is very hard to PERFECTLY capture a period of history and fit it in to catchy music that is actually engaging to the audience, sets up likable AND relatable characters, with an amazingly talented and able cast, all while breaking the norms of musical theatre through storytelling in a popular modern genre while ALSO staying 100% historically accurate. Hamilton, for all it’s worth, comes remarkably close.
I don't have a problem with people finding musicals from tiktok or listening to one or two songs from a specific musical and saying they like some musicals but I do have a problem when those same exact people make fun of people in theater or shows or when I say oh you like (musical name) and then they proceed to make fun of people for liking it and I probably wouldn't have said anything if it was one or two people but when everyone is like that then theres a problem
I don't think you have to be a theatre kid to use those songs in TikToks. What I DO believe is that you need to at least know where those songs come from.
3:21 This is sooooooo true!!! I had a friend that I was sitting with one day and I, being a theater kid, was humming It’s a Hard-knock Life(which is weird because it’s my least favorite song) from Annie(my favorite musical). Then she starting singing along and I was like, “wow you know that song?” She’s like “yeah it’s good” and then I said, “yesss I love Annie!!!” And she’s like, “what’s Annie? I heard it from Tik Tok.” I have never been so disappointed in my life.
About tik tok, sometimes it's annoying but for example my friend listened to Six because she heard it on tik tok. Of course it was confusing 'because she started to sing Get Down and I was like “oh, you listened to Six!” And then she answered “it's from tik tok”. But eventually she discovered an entire musical and really enjoyed it!
My unpopular musical opinions: (a lot of these are for Heathers-) - BMC is an UNDERRATED musical. No one really talks about it anymore, except "how bad it is", and about Michael (And Michael in the Bathroom). Also, BMC was originally A BOOK! So, if you're hating on BMC, then youre also technically hating on the book, as they are not very different. - Anastasia is an unpopular musical. It's not even a popular movie. I ask so many people who like musicals if they've listened to Anastasia, and all, if not, most of them say "I've never heard of it".... But it sometimes gets on lists of "Popular musicals", but I think people mainly assume that every new/modern musical is a popular musical. - Not ever new/modern musical is popular. ^^^ . - Veronica , Heather McNamara, and JD are overrated characters in Heathers... (Both movie and musical. Reboot not so much). Sure, I LOVE JD (Not because of his craziness, but his entire character development and backstory), but I do think he is overrated. I believe that Heather Duke is the most underrated Heather in Heathers ever. But the most underrated character overall is Ms. Fleming! - *HEATHER MCNAMARA IS NOT A CINNAMON ROLL!* OMG IT BOTHERS ME /SO MUCH/ WHENEVER SOMEONE SAYS THAT SHE'S A PERFECT CINNAMON ROLL! SHE. IS. Yes!! I’m so glad someone said it! Obviously Defying Gravity is fantastic, but No Good Deed is my favorite and I don’t think it gets nearly enough credit. Also in terms of Hamilton’s historical accuracy-there are a bunch of things that are different than how it actually happened. However I still think it stayed true to the facts way better than many other “historical” musicals/stories. All the important facts were there, and I think Lin did a great job accurately showing the personalities of each person and displaying the humanity of each of them, which is something I think is often lost while just reading a text book. (Sorry if that was long winded....I’m a history major and a theater nerd. I’m not a Hamilton scholar by any means, but these are the types of topics I get excited about)

4:39 Not trying to be a know it all, but you are correct, Lin did have a lot of fun with it… Do you only part that I really know is in accurate is that Philip didn't actually get shot at seven… They both turned around and just kind of stood there for a second like… Uhhhhhhhh- then eacker just decided to shoot and Philip died. Also, they do make Alexander seem more greater than he actually was. But don't get me wrong! Hamilton is my absolute favorite musical! I'm not trying to be all nitpicky, but I thought it would be cool to tell you. Still, no matter how accurate Hamilton is it is by far and amazing musical!
I'll admit that I was first drawn to Anne Boleyn when I first heard about/saw a video related to Six, and it was probably because I saw Millie and thought "Well that's another reason why I'm not straight." I've grown to love all the queens, but I still feel pretty close to Anne Boleyn as a character. I wouldn't mind playing any of them though.

Hannah Torres well the musical is based on hamilton’s real life so the creator, lin-manuel miranda, was not able to change that. when angelica met alexander, she was already married but was included in his love life for the drama.

3:21 Whoever submitted this...I freaking love you Okay imma not be controversial here but hear me out. A lot of times the people who use those sound bites from TikTok don't actually look up the song. They just think of it as the "trending thing on TikTok." Often times I've been singing Beautiful from Heathers at school and I get to the part in the bathroom where it goes "Shut up Heather!" "Sorry, Heather!" and then some girl goes "dang dang diggity dang-a-dang" but that's not even the same song. Most of them almost never know it's from a musical, or even care. My friend loves TikTok and she literally just thinks of that song as the sound bite from TikTok. Almost no one I know knew it was from a musical until I told them. In this case I don't agree with Caitie because they usually don't actually join the theater community from hearing it on TikTok.
Here my take on things 1. Katherine Howard had the worst life and definitely deserved to win six. 2. Just because something is popular doesn’t mean it’s overrated.3. BMC , DEH, six are all musical that are ether love or hate musical 4. Just because you don’t like it doesn’t make it bad 5. Don’t bash the new theatre kids We’ve all felt it and it’s not fun. 6. Cats has always been a weird one let’s face it. 7. J.D has no right to be considered a okay or good person he literally he killed at least three people then killed him self leaving his girlfriend with lots of emotional trauma 8. Just because a kid started liking broadway off of tic toc doesn’t mean that they can’t like theatre ( but they do have to know more than just small parts of songs) 9. Of someone talks about a certain musical a lot don’t say they don’t know any other musical or that musical cause they’re probably know more or their new to broadway ( had a girl talk about how I probably only knew Heathers and how it was trash even though I just talk about a lot because it’s the musical that introduce me to broadway) 10. Everybody’s talking about Jamie and Fun Home need more appreciation then they get.
I say Hamilton is my favorite musical only because it was the first musical I ever saw and it got me into musical theatre and changed my life. Music wise I think LSOH is my favorite musical
3:24 For me, the problem in this is when a song is used to mean something entirely different as to what it does, know what I mean? The most prominent example that comes to mind is Six's All You Wanna Do. The amount of times I've seen that song used as something seductive and flirty, when the actual song in itself is essentially about sexual abuse...
I agree with the Hamilton one I've watched a lot of videos on that and he has got in when he wrote it he did a lot of things because I was just easier like not putting some people that were relevant to the story in but you can't have that many people in a musical that have lines so he did do a lot of changes
Here’s my thing: Liking popular musicals is great, you do you, as long as you’ve got some variety and listened to/seen other shows. I love Heathers and Mean Girls, but I also love She Loves Me and BKLYN. Most of my favorite shows are classics and ones that aren’t generally on Tik Tok, but that doesn’t mean I dislike the popular shows! Just read all the plays you can, listen to all the cast recordings you can, and see all the shows you can, and spread love for all of them ❤️

The schylurs had brothers Martha Washington did not name her cat after him Laurens fought in the battle of Yorktown Phillip died after the election of 1800 Burr didn't open campaign himself The timing with Samuel Seaburys writings was wrong Angelica was married at the time of Satisfied Alex quit, he wasn't fired By the Time Phillip was 9, he already had brothers George Eaker can count to 10 (Just saying, the information was gotten from the book Hamilton was based off. I've read it. Sorry for the spelling mistakes)
One of my unpopular opinions is that like some of the people had said in the video, the only good thing about BMC is Michael in the Bathroom (in my opinion). I just don’t really like the overall storyline or really any of the songs. And this is is kind of the same for Heathers for me, except I don’t like any of the songs from the show 😅. I also have no intentions to ever listen to Mean Girls, Phantom, Cats, A Chorus Line, Cabaret or The Producers (although the last three I’m just kind of worried if I’ll like them or not, since they seems kind of hyped). I’m also worried about Little Shop, In the Heights, and Sweeney Todd since I’ve heard such good things about them, that if I listen to them, they might not live up to what I’ve heard about them and then the show will be ruined for me.
Just wanna mention In The Heights is something that u can really easily get into even after just one listen. And Sweeney Todd is probably one of best (if not THE best) Sondheim show IMHO. Yeah, I get that feeling of not wanting to ruin a show by listening to it.
Sweeney Todd is sooo good my dad use to talk about being the best musical of all time and we watched and omg i could believe how good it was Sondheim s best work
My unpopular opinions: Six isn't good. Beautiful: The Carole King Musical is an underrated musical. Thank Goodness from Wicked is an insanely underrated song. The human designs for Spongebob Squarepants: The Musical are really good.

Extremely unpopular opinion: I love every character in Hamilton except Angelica and Eliza. ( Im sorry, plz no hate.) I love characters with flaws and imperfections. I relate to them more. But in Hamilton everyone thinks Eliza is a saint. In which i agree but they don't show that she also has flaws. And Angelica is overrated. Edit: They also have few comedic lines. Also Angelica and Eliza in Helpless are the best Angelica and Eliza
I’m actually a really big fan of the Music Man and I was never a big fan of beetlejuice I have listened some of the songs and there good!! But music man holds a big place in my heart and while beetlejuice shouldn’t have to end so soon.... I’m excited for new things to come!

Hamilton has several inaccuracies but is still amazing.
Here are a few of the main historical inacuracies.
Angelica was married to John Church before Hamilton met either her or Eliza (however a scandal was posted in a tabloid years later. It's pretty accepted that it's not true)
Hamiton was not the Second at the laurens/Lee duel
John Lauren's was at the battle of York Town
Hamilton actually would leave work early to spend time with his family. He loved them and spent every free second with them. Work came second, family first.
Hamilton had eight children, not two.
Hamilton was not sent home by Washingron, but quit because he was tired of Washington not respecting him.
The Election of 1800 happened in... 1800 while Philip didnt die until 1801 (after which Angelica Hamilton went insane out of grief)
It wasn't the election of 1800 that caused Burr to duel Hamilton but the Senatorial election of 1804.
Hence, Hamilton died in 1804.
Burr never showed remorse like he did in the musical.

Jamie Dawn there were a couple of these I hadn’t heard of and am now super interested in researching, but this is a fantastic list! I think another thing to note would be that Philip Schuyler did have sons, but Lin chose to ignore them for the sake of time (since obviously you can’t develop a million different characters in 2ish hrs) and chose instead to have Angelica represent the plight of many aristocratic women of the time. (Satisfied-“my father has no sons, so I’m the one who has to social climb”) Also Jefferson did not help with the French Revolution like is implied in What Did I Miss. He was back in America around 1784-1785 and the French declaration/Revolution started in 1789

I thought in the show it shows his 8 children. Also, Peggy introduced Eliza to Hamilton, not Angelica and there was a fourth Schuyler sister, but she was much younger I think so I'm guessing they weren't AS close. I think her name was Catherine. But props to Lin because he managed to maintain a sufficient amount of accurate information and facts in a musical. He stayed true to the real storyline.* unlike the Percy Jackson movies ahem*

I could bewrong, but I thought Eliza's interest in hamilton stemmed from her time with her Uncle at Morristown (who was Washington's doctor). Hamilton wrote letters to Peggy asking for advice, but I wasn't aware that they knew each other.
Catherine's was an infant during the war. (Hence the story of Peggy risking death to save her sister from her cradle downstairs mid attack)

I absolutely disagree with "The only good part of Be More Chill is 'Michael In The Bathroom'". A lot of people hate on it, but I absolutely love the musical! Sci-fi is one of my favorite genes in media so a sci-fi musical is RIGHT up my alley

I agree that people who only listen to the more mainstream musicals are just as valid as anyone else. For me "the big four" (i.e. DEH, BMC, Heathers and Hamilton) were the musicals that got me into theatre in the first place because songs from them became mainstream and they inspired me to research where they came from. Nowadays I don't listen to them very much and I don't like them as much compared to other musicals, but I can still see why they appeal to others, especially given that 3 of those 4 musicals are about teenagers facing the emotions and problems that teenagers face. It still kinda irks me how people act like these are the only musicals that exist, but overall I respect anyone who likes these musicals, and I recommend finding other shows that share similar themes or ideas.
The one about not liking Les Mis got me angry. Also, why does everyone love Anne Boleyn so much? Sure shes fun and all but Katherine Howard and Parr went through the worst pain
I don’t judge anyone for only liking popular modern musicals, but sometimes I wish that more musical theatre fans would talk about Sondheim or other older musicals so that I could have someone to geek out about those shows with 😂

Unpopular opinion (Kat Steele already has a whole video on this one) Cosette is actually a decent character. I know we're led to think of her as this helpless damsel in distress who only gets the guy because she's "nice and hot", and her character pales in comparison to Eponine, a significantly more dynamic/well-rounded woman. But that's not exactly the truth. Cosette isn't the way she is because the world is made of rainbows and sparkles, but because she is an optimist by CHOICE. She is SELFLESS. She sees the crap going on around her and somehow remains strong and positive. On top of that, her dad ran out on her, and her mom died, making life already tough as is!
(Also, on the flip side, while I do somewhat agree that Heather McNamara is a sweet lil cinnamon roll, I can't fully go along with it because of her obvious suicidal thoughts and tendencies)

1:I kind of agree about DEH, but only because I'm huge Great Comet stan so I'm a little biased...
2: It's not "basic" to like popular musicals at all!
3: From what I've heard, Be More Chill sounds kind of weird plot-wise and I'm not sure why but everytime I hear any song from it I just start laughing because sometimes it just makes no sense and is so random. (I haven't given it a full listen-thru yet tho so I can't really judge it.)
4: I think Hamilton is amazing, and it's not that Hamilton is over-hyped, it's that other shows that are just as good are under-hyped. Everything Lin writes is absolute perfection tho.
5: Personally, I love No Good Deed and feel like it should be the big song, but I do get that Defying Gravity is the 1 act finisher, so it makes sense.
6: I've never listened to Waitress (I have weird taste in musicals) but from just the title it sounds like the boring, " A Sentimental Man" of Waitress.
7: I agree that the lyrics of Six aren't always the best and sometimes I cringe, but I looooooove six so much because the music and the concept is just so cool.
8: I think the songs in Wicked are great, but the whole animals being silenced plotline is kind of a little too on the nose for my taste and not very well-developed. ...and Something Bad is really really really really really a horrible song.
9: I think that both are in the wrong, but I don't think that Regina isn't a villian.
10: I kind of disagree, but it is very irritating when your favorite song is super popular but no one knows the context and they all think it's "from tik tok".

I'm one of those people who got into some musicals because of Tik Tok. Because a lot of times I don't recognize a song I look it up. Then when I find it was from a musical I must listen to the whole thing and tend to get really into it.
Your videos (and one woman performances of assorted musicals such as Hamilton and all the parts in Six) have kept me sane as I haven't left my house in a week

So me as a theater and history nerd, I think I can say something to the hamilton thing: There are some historically inaccurate things in hamilton, for example did philip schuyler have sons and five daughters and angelica was already married when alexander and she met. But the main parts are right, it's just about some details I think.
In general, it is very hard to PERFECTLY capture a period of history and fit it in to catchy music that is actually engaging to the audience, sets up likable AND relatable characters, with an amazingly talented and able cast, all while breaking the norms of musical theatre through storytelling in a popular modern genre while ALSO staying 100% historically accurate. Hamilton, for all it’s worth, comes remarkably close.

I don't have a problem with people finding musicals from tiktok or listening to one or two songs from a specific musical and saying they like some musicals but I do have a problem when those same exact people make fun of people in theater or shows or when I say oh you like (musical name) and then they proceed to make fun of people for liking it and I probably wouldn't have said anything if it was one or two people but when everyone is like that then theres a problem
I don't think you have to be a theatre kid to use those songs in TikToks. What I DO believe is that you need to at least know where those songs come from.

I had a friend that I was sitting with one day and I, being a theater kid, was humming It’s a Hard-knock Life(which is weird because it’s my least favorite song) from Annie(my favorite musical). About tik tok, sometimes it's annoying but for example my friend listened to Six because she heard it on tik tok. Of course it was confusing 'because she started to sing Get Down and I was like “oh, you listened to Six!” And then she answered “it's from tik tok”. But eventually she discovered an entire musical and really enjoyed it!
My unpopular musical opinions:
(a lot of these are for Heathers-)
- BMC is an UNDERRATED musical. No one really talks about it anymore, except "how bad it is", and about Michael (And Michael in the Bathroom). Also, BMC was originally A BOOK! So, if you're hating on BMC, then youre also technically hating on the book, as they are not very different.
- Anastasia is an unpopular musical. It's not even a popular movie. I ask so many people who like musicals if they've listened to Anastasia, and all, if not, most of them say "I've never heard of it".... But it sometimes gets on lists of "Popular musicals", but I think people mainly assume that every new/modern musical is a popular musical.
- Not ever new/modern musical is popular. ^^^ .
- Veronica , Heather McNamara, and JD are overrated characters in Heathers... (Both movie and musical. Reboot not so much). Sure, I LOVE JD (Not because of his craziness, but his entire character development and backstory), but I do think he is overrated. I believe that Heather Duke is the most underrated Heather in Heathers ever. But the most underrated character overall is Ms. Fleming!

Yes!! I’m so glad someone said it! Obviously Defying Gravity is fantastic, but No Good Deed is my favorite and I don’t think it gets nearly enough credit. Also in terms of Hamilton’s historical accuracy-there are a bunch of things that are different than how it actually happened. However I still think it stayed true to the facts way better than many other “historical” musicals/stories. All the important facts were there, and I think Lin did a great job accurately showing the personalities of each person and displaying the humanity of each of them, which is something I think is often lost while just reading a text book. (Sorry if that was long winded....I’m a history major and a theater nerd. I’m not a Hamilton scholar by any means, but these are the types of topics I get excited about)

Not trying to be a know it all, but you are correct, Lin did have a lot of fun with it… Do you only part that I really know is in accurate is that Philip didn't actually get shot at seven… They both turned around and just kind of stood there for a second like… Uhhhhhhhh- then eacker just decided to shoot and Philip died. Also, they do make Alexander seem more greater than he actually was. But don't get me wrong! Hamilton is my absolute favorite musical! I'm not trying to be all nitpicky, but I thought it would be cool to tell you. Still, no matter how accurate Hamilton is it is by far and amazing musical!

I'll admit that I was first drawn to Anne Boleyn when I first heard about/saw a video related to Six, and it was probably because I saw Millie and thought "Well that's another reason why I'm not straight." I've grown to love all the queens, but I still feel pretty close to Anne Boleyn as a character. I wouldn't mind playing any of them though.

Hannah Torres well the musical is based on hamilton’s real life so the creator, lin-manuel miranda, was not able to change that. when angelica met alexander, she was already married but was included in his love life for the drama.

Okay imma not be controversial here but hear me out. A lot of times the people who use those sound bites from TikTok don't actually look up the song. They just think of it as the "trending thing on TikTok." Often times I've been singing Beautiful from Heathers at school and I get to the part in the bathroom where it goes "Shut up Heather!" "Sorry, Heather!" and then some girl goes "dang dang diggity dang-a-dang" but that's not even the same song. Most of them almost never know it's from a musical, or even care. My friend loves TikTok and she literally just thinks of that song as the sound bite from TikTok. Almost no one I know knew it was from a musical until I told them. In this case I don't agree with Caitie because they usually don't actually join the theater community from hearing it on TikTok.
Here my take on things 1. Katherine Howard had the worst life and definitely deserved to win six. 2. Just because something is popular doesn’t mean it’s overrated.3. BMC , DEH, six are all musical that are ether love or hate musical 4. Just because you don’t like it doesn’t make it bad 5. Don’t bash the new theatre kids We’ve all felt it and it’s not fun. 6. I agree with the Hamilton one I've watched a lot of videos on that and he has got in when he wrote it he did a lot of things because I was just easier like not putting some people that were relevant to the story in but you can't have that many people in a musical that have lines so he did do a lot of changes
Here’s my thing:
Liking popular musicals is great, you do you, as long as you’ve got some variety and listened to/seen other shows. I love Heathers and Mean Girls, but I also love She Loves Me and BKLYN. Most of my favorite shows are classics and ones that aren’t generally on Tik Tok, but that doesn’t mean I dislike the popular shows! Just read all the plays you can, listen to all the cast recordings you can, and see all the shows you can, and spread love for all of them ❤️
I liked cats the movie adaption but the only bad part was Taylor in my opinion.

Angelica was married at the time of Satisfied
Alex quit, he wasn't fired
By the Time Phillip was 9, he already had brothers
George Eaker can count to 10

One of my unpopular opinions is that like some of the people had said in the video, the only good thing about BMC is Michael in the Bathroom (in my opinion). I just don’t really like the overall storyline or really any of the songs. And this is is kind of the same for Heathers for me, except I don’t like any of the songs from the show 😅. I also have no intentions to ever listen to Mean Girls, Phantom, Cats, A Chorus Line, Cabaret or The Producers (although the last three I’m just kind of worried if I’ll like them or not, since they seems kind of hyped). I’m also worried about Little Shop, In the Heights, and Sweeney Todd since I’ve heard such good things about them, that if I listen to them, they might not live up to what I’ve heard about them and then the show will be ruined for me.
Also sorry I know that was more than one opinion 😅
Just wanna mention In The Heights is something that u can really easily get into even after just one listen. And Sweeney Todd is probably one of best (if not THE best) Sondheim show IMHO. Yeah, I get that feeling of not wanting to ruin a show by listening to it.

Extremely unpopular opinion: I love every character in Hamilton except Angelica and Eliza. ( Im sorry, plz no hate.) I love characters with flaws and imperfections. I relate to them more. But in Hamilton everyone thinks Eliza is a saint. In which i agree but they don't show that she also has flaws. And Angelica is overrated.
