    Hi guys! Thanks for all the engagements! Since many of you mentioned Scientology, I just wanted to add: I did read a bit about that, but I decided not to mention it because I have no proof, I don't know much about it (so I don't want to talk rubbish) and this channel is about music, so I was focusing on the piano misinformation in the ads. Also, yes, I do have a personal opinion about him, but as mentioned in the video, I will keep that to myself and make the video as professional as I can.

    The guy is a total scammer, flooding RUclips with ads that nearly pushed me to pay the $19 a month for Premium just to escape them. His self-promotional sales pitch is almost unbearable, and it’s appalling that he charges such outrageous prices for his course. It feels disgraceful that RUclips, for the right amount of advertising money, allows such a buffoon to market himself this way-especially on accounts like ours, where we genuinely value discovering new, quality information about piano playing. His business model alone reveals a lack of integrity, and someone really should call him out for his questionable practices.

That price could buy you two years worth of weekly 30 mins private piano teacher lessons, where I'm pretty damn sure you would get far more benefit from. I think the big scam is exactly what youre saying, you can force any words into any chord progression and say you're playing a song , but really it's just pretending to play a song , it reminds me of the old Martin Short skit where he plays an old arrogant "song writer" he says "gimme a C , A bouncy C" and just says random words on top to the same music every time.

    Yeah. To say that his ads are irritating, obnoxiously misleading, and full of lies is a gross understatement. Correct. If you learn to play these ‘100 songs’ by playing just 4 chords, then you’re going to learn 4 chords that all sound the same, thus learning just one song that could be anything. Plus, his examples-Let It Be and Can You Feel the Love Tonight-are a lot more than just ‘4 chords.’ Ridley is a con artist who’s been sucked in by other con artists-i.e., the Church of Scientology.

  • @patrickwells4014
    @patrickwells4014 День назад

    If I happened to acquire his product, I would scrutinize it thoroughly to see if 1. What is good about it. 2. What is bad about it. 3. How it would be used in a classroom setting. Either 1 on 1 or a classroom with more that 5 students. Say that you finally teach and individual or classroom the four chords mentioned that accompanies a song, that would be great for someone that never played a piano or keyboard before. It would greatly acclimate him or her to music settings. Suppose that while the student is playing this vamp over and over you improvise a melody that goes along with the 4 chords. It could help learn things like ensemble, rhythm, tempo, and articulation before ever teaching those things. You see, this method does have some good use. I would stay away from the BS part that mentions music theory and piano playing techniques. Sure it is overpriced but could be useful to get someone to play something easily before really studying music and learning to practice the the piano.

    • @pianotips2623
      @pianotips2623  День назад

      Learning a few chords is not really a method. Most kids do this in all primary schools here in the UK. They even play in ensembles. There is nothing wrong with anything that you said, but the point is that he advertises this is a 'complete piano masterclass' which will teach you everything you need to know to play any piano music, not just 4 chord songs.

Somehow my school left out hieroglyphs and Latin. What's the best way to learn to play the piano? A good teacher. Yep, an elite, PhD, concert pianist will take you from Clementi to Mozart in a year. They have a lot of tricks up their sleeves that will allow you to progress faster, plus a lot of practice, of course. Unfortunately, the reality is that music is an art. Taking a lot of piano classes won't turn you into a good pianist. There is something call relent. Talent is those little things you can't teach, but rather happens intuitively, allowing you to bring the music to live. Just like an actor.

    I believe in having piano lessons in person, not buying a dumb course. It’s a SCAM! I heard that what he teaches can be found online with the 4 chords for free, so that is why it is scam. He bites as a pianist. I can get 30 lessons by my piano teacher for $3k and I would learn so much more from her than any class. I have goals & his course is not individualized.
    His singing sucks!! My piano teacher has a Doctorate in Music & can sing, too, but she can actually sing unlike Steven.
    You are right: there are no short cuts to learning piano. I trained classically as a kid for 10 years. I just started lessons again and it’s almost been 40 years since I had a lesson and there are some basics I have to go back to, but this time, I will focus on chord work. I am working on a piece first, though.
    Piano is taught in Italian! Lol! Lies, lies, lies!!!! I started with the Suzuki method as a kid.

    See a symbol you "don't understand"? Like a #? Learn what it means and, hey, you've got a symbol you didn't have before, and that does something no other symbol in existence can do. Are his music scores full of tiny words explaining the pitch, alteration and length of every note? Messy.

    Ridley is obviously a scam artist, and there are no shortcuts in learning piano. But not everyone has the goal of playing Chopin and classical music.Many successful pop and jazz musicians can’t read music and understand music through chords….so for students whose goal is to play in these styles, learning to read and play Mozart Sonata in C is a waste of time, and learning chords as a first step can still be the way to go.
