i remember at the time thinking how she is such a specific spot among all the try guys crew, because her face did end up in the news sometimes (for food baby reasons). (and i'm not saying it was okay by any measure for the owners to deal with all that, but as keith said (i think in the assumptions video?), they are the owners and faces of the company.)
@@awilddevereaux TLDR YB (the one in the middle) was roped into a lot of the Try Guys drama despite not being involved because she made a lot of content with Alexandria, the employee Ned cheated with. She had a lot of people hounding her online because people thought she either (1) was somehow supposed to be superwoman and stop it from happening because she was close to Alexandria on camera or (2) was mistaken for Alexandria, so people were yelling at her for being a homewrecker despite having the entirely wrong person. The Try Guys scandal affected everyone, but YB arguably had it the worst out of all the employees.
THIS PART. Absolutely this part. When [redacted] & [femme redacted] were involved with what happened, YB was one of the people I felt THE MOST empathetic towards being in the midst of it all. I knew that the 3 guys had a storm to deal with, which they signed up for when they decided to start a company, but YB absolutely didn't deserve to be in the middle of all of that, particularly to the degree that she ended up being in it
being a try guys fan, yb's comment about the fans praising the editing & producing is true, i think its because through their podcasts or even in the videos themselves they are very very open on sharing with us their process & craft, we can see their passion & expertise for the art.
i think it goes back to something she said too, that the audience grew with them. Because she has been the main editor of without a recipe forever, which is arguably the most well known show they have, so as an audience you see what new tools she has or when they are trying something different. Add to that her own blogs and there she explains her methods and the logic behind, so people are aware of the background effort.
I like to think that Anthony sent out a company wide email to Smosh asking if anyone was interested in hosting Assumptions and he is slowly going through and picking individuals who wanted to try. ❤ Everyone is doing great subbing in for Nicole
Watch all the crew episodes! TNTL are fun. There’s a few where they bring in crew and do fun facts about them, and the podcast has 2 episodes with a bunch of crew as well.
Right? My reaction too. I spent 6 years in the service industry and you really have to be in that world to realize how brutal of an industry it really is. Just my opinion, but I feel like people that think they want to own a restaurant really just want to be a regular at a restaurant.
YB is lovely! Such a sweet person and hard worker. I love her videos were she teaches her edit process and I totally see her being a teacher as she wishes in the future.
As a video editor and assistent producer to a big platform, this is refreshing to watch! 😃 I loved the word “nepo hire” 🤣 Props to Trevor, he does so well leading this and it’s so fun to watch. Thank you
Gonna start using DM’s with Trevor as a baking journal “today I learned how to make blueberry muffins, getting the dough the right was the hardest part.”
You see, I am SO happy this channel exists as it does. Everything happens for a reason and if a little heartbreak didn’t happen we wouldn’t have the GOLDMINE that is this content. It’s SO enriching to see these perspectives as they are, as unfiltered as they come. This is a very important video. Maybe not to you who reads this, but to someone, somewhere, this video is important and I am HERE FOR IT!!!!
If anyone knows about scandalous bosses... idk if anyone knows more about it than Sam working for H3. Try guys had one, H3 has had like 5 a years for the past 8 years
Sam met QTCinderella because she consoled her at a party after Ethan Klein laughed at QT Cinderella crying about her face appearing on AI 🌽 - you can even see Sam’s face when he laughs at it. I think that’s when she wanted to jump ship, and good thing she did too since Ethan is spiraling.
Lol Trevor expressing how hell and stressful it is to work in the culinary industry and the girls are like "omg that sounds so peaceful 🥰" was so funny
I used to watch Smosh as a kid. Not as a big fan, but a pretty good fan at the time. I stopped watching as other things caught my attention, but when I came back to watching Smosh years later I was pleasantly surprised by the evolution of the Channel. I'm still a pretty good fan of them these days.
I was aware of Smosh back in the day because it was one of the first channels people watched (i watched like Ray William Johnson, ijustine, Phil DeFranco , Shaytards, vlogbrothers, Dave days, Shane Dawson, Jenna marbles, etc) and watched a handful of Smosh videos due people suggesting them but it wasn't really my sense of humor. When I found out Rhett and Link bought Smosh, when watching the Phil DeFranco show, I was excited for them, having heard about the Defy issue through the PDS too. I watched Anthony's "Spent a day with..." Series during the pandemic and loved it. Then found out through that show and the PDS Anthony was going back to Smosh and I watched Smosh after that, especially Reddit Stories. I really only like Smosh pit videos, Smosh games, and Smosh cast. The actual Smosh channel still has content that's a little too weird for me, but the new Bit City series is a pretty solid series with only a few really weird sections)
I like seeing a variety of people doing these interviews. I first started watching several years ago when it was of course just Anthony. But I have enjoyed the direction you have gone in so we see other people interviewing. Nicole is so good at it, as is Trevor. I think Trevor should actually do it more. He's really good at it.
I have always enjoyed Erin appearing in videos and wish she would do even more, but I imagine that the Lunchtime podcast is more than enough for her with everything else she has on her plate. She is definitely one of my favorites. Plus, she seems to be a fan of Wong Kar-wai and that gets her bonus points in my book.
I loved this interview, it was very well done and I liked that Trevor also added his opinion on the questions so it didn't feel so stiff role of just asking the questions. Thanks 😊
I’m kind of curious about how the pay is with RUclipsr/twitch behind the scenes work compared to traditional media like someone on a Netflix show for instance. Somehow I feel like the pay might be more generous on RUclips if you’re hired to do BTS at smosh, or try guys? But I don’t know I’m completely oblivious about this stuff haha
You can find job posting for some YT channels if they have a website with a career page. I know for sure Mr.Beast has openings available all the time. From what it seems a YT job pays comparable to any other job in the same role working somewhere else. It really depends though on who you're working for, how important you are to the channel, how successful is the channel, etc. In summary I think it would be fair to say the pay is average in the beginning, a little above average in the middle, and it can get high if you're very skilled and important. Much like any other job. With all that said, I can imagine the benefits are what most people like. The people are fun, in a way there's no stress for catastrophe, and you probably get things like prizes and/or sponsor gifts fairly often. (Benefits are gift/culture based).
I've never really watched a lot of try guys and didn't know about her before this but YB seems so nice and chill and im def gonna follow all her content from now on lol
What I like about The Try Guys, they mentioned who the editors and that’s why I followed YB and checking her YT channel to see how she edit some videos which is so interesting to watch.
Erin, you failed successfully, and that's pretty damn cool. I definitely wish you were in front of the camera more, like Lunchtime with Smosh. Keep being cool.

A lot of these assumptions are pretty sad. A lot of behind the scenes YT jobs are real jobs now. You can get all of these jobs in the film industry. Graphic Designers can work in film, games, YT, websites, etc. Software engineers, accountants, and managers are also all real jobs you can get in YT. Basically YT jobs fall under an "Industry Standard"" now. Meaning you can apply these jobs to others within the industry and there is a number of available jobs that make up the industry. No offence to some Smosh members, but the least repeatable skill would probably be showing up in video/acting. There's a larger saturation of those who just want to be on camera for easy work and less on those who want to learn a skill like graphic design or software engineering.
