- It's IFR Lesson #5 for Karin as she learns how to build and fly VNAV descents on the @Garmin Aviation G1000 Perspective+ avionics in the@Cirrus Aircraft! After 25 years of not flying (about 6 years ago), I got a chance to right right seat of a Eclipse Jet. The pilot asked if I was IFR rated, and told him I wasn't but did a lot of IFR practice.
He had already explained the PFD to me and how to enter different data, so he asked me to see if i could set up for an instrument approach to KEDC. Stumbled my way through the FD (I am a computer geek, so that was easy), and then flew the approach to minimums, where the pilot took back control.
Looked out the window and lined up perfectly with the strips at a perfect glide angle.
Finally got back to flying last month after 31 years away from it, and ready for my sign-off and then onto IFR Rating.
Watching Karin going through this brings back happy memories, and I know she will look back at this time as special to her.
