Just to make things clear:
3617 yens seems to be very cheap after converting into USD. But you should know that currently, yen is very low and for japanese people, USD is too high and they don't really want to visit the USA right now because life cost would be too expensive.
Moreover, the purchasing power and pricing are different in Japan. Food in Japan is cheap ACCORDING TO western people. Don't be biaised.
I don't know what your family's habit is, but in some (especially in Japan) parents give pocket money weekly or monthly for their daily expenses (clothes, food, gacha game,...) to have fun. Some kids will save money for months to buy a video game console and this is the way it works. I think that most american kids would directly ask their parents to buy something. It would a bit shameful for some kids to ask directly.
Plus Anna is a gourmet, a food lover that can spend a lot of money to eat delicious food.
And Nukumizu is a weirdo who wants every single yen back.
That's why Anna can't pay Nukumizu back directly.
Also don't say it's because Anna is a kid, she's a teenager. She CAN manage her own money (>kids).
I'd honestly just rather have my money back instead of going through all this 😂
Personally don't think wanting your money back (to the last yen/penny) is weird. Pay your debts people.
The first part of the your comment was good in the sense it explains differences in cultures but then you ruined it on the other half. How wanting to get your money back from someone who is not even your friend makes you weirdo? And how is this a justification for Anna not to pay him money directly instead? 🙂

Personally, for people we know (not necessarily friends), I think it's weird to be too picky for a few yens. I feel like it's impolite or rude (imo).
If I were Anna, I would pay him back in another way, like inviting him to have dinner and I pay for all.
Or, more cordial, rounding the amount and give extra as an apology for borrowing money.

When I let people "borrow" money in high school, I knew they needed it for food and just gave it to them expecting nothing back. In general, high schoolers don't pay you back anyways.

Man she might be perfect like she’s both an energetic personality, funny, entertaining, cute, hella good expression (good shit animators) and is really cheeky with the shit she does and damn is it amazing, but ngl im honestly so happy that i found this while the anime is still underrated cause the light novel has been out for years man but the manga and anime are pretty fresh and the anime came out this season so its still really new but the story man i alr love it, found it through the manga then got to vol3 of the ln alr and caught up to the anime, the quality story and everything is just great, its funny, cute, and has good world building i love it everything feels alive in it because if you combine an already amazing manga with an amazing team like a-1 then you’ll get something thats anime movie quality

I’ve no clue what the general costs of goods and services are in Japan so I have to contextualize her debt with USD to gauge just how much it would be. Yes, I understand that purchasing power between Japanese Yen and the US dollar aren’t the same, but since Japan is a developed country I figured the differences in costs shouldn’t be that large. Certainly not the hundred times difference between the Yen and whatever legal tender you’re using

(1BDT = 1.239 Yen) . So you see I get about 20taka for lunch daily.So if save that money then it would take me 150 days to clear the debt.
