Plot twist: Shao Kahn was the main character in Mortal Kombat all along as the tournament revolve around him attempting to win so he could conquer Earth Realm someday.
I like how Shao Khan is so excited to show Raiden trophies from all the people he's killed, only to pause when he see's Kitana's War-Fan. Like he genuinely cared for her. A split second of humanity from one of the most tyrannical conquerors in the MK universe.
And the way he just quietly announced "...dead." and quickly moved on. Like he felt genuine pain from her loss, but had to preoccupy himself with something more appreciated to keep his emotions from showing. Although a lot of the special effects and some dialogue was always kinda cheesy, Shao Kahn was fucking incredible acting.

Jeffrey Meek played Shao Kahn perfectly and should've been him in MK: Annihilation instead of Brian Thompson. He had Shao Kahn's character down to a tee: gruff, scheming, serious and straight to the point. Thompson may have had the height for him, but he was too much of a comedic villain and it was hard for me to take him seriously

Shottas the Villains win, Biggas Wayne and Mad Max are stone Cold Murderers two of them make it and Sequel is in the works, Last Seduction the Villainess wins, No Country for Old Men the Main Antagonist wins outright all the villains win outright in the end.
This ending just makes sense. It explains why Shao Khan is so feared - he's virtually unbeatable yet so bored with his existence he regards his natural talents cheat codes and refrains from using them... until he gets bored, impatient or extremely irritated. Seriously, the guy's army and all his assassins are for show only, he doesn't really need any of it.

Not only kill almost all the good guys; kill every single one of his threats and makes Rayden his slave and forces him to bow to him as he promised he would make. Now thats how you make an ending to a tv show.
And he also broke the rules of MK, he took over Earth without Winning 10 tournaments in a row and last we checked this version lost their last tournament

@@lllilkilla202ll100 The movie was fun and entertaining but the lines were cheesy and not suited for an MK film, a lot of actors were replaced (Raiden, Johnny Cage, Sonya, Jax, Scorpion) and it was full of MK3 characters (with the exception of Kabal and Striker) who had little screen time, no character development and not even their names mentioned.
@@Facade953 you didn't see the film. Rain announced he killed them. Shao Kahn to Rain "Did you make them Beg for their Lives before you Killed Them?" Before Killing Rain for his failure to do so.
Every time I hear the priests' roar, it gives the feel that they're far beyond their human appearance (of course they're not humans) and makes one thing how powerful is Shao Kang really to command them as he wish.
Ironically, the best ever version of Mortal Kombat series has just ended up after one season of what it was,22 episodes?? But it was absolutely amazing series and the way they ended hurt me back in the time i was watching it in TV but i loved it sooo much. One of the best series I've ever watched.
It's cool to find people here in the comments section who liked this show. I was literally the only person I knew at my school who watched it and this ending blew me away! From what I remember, it seemed like any other episode... Shao Khan hires some assassins to kill Kung Lao and his friends. But these guys could teleport and were just, like, too good. And they killed EVERYONE. This was Ned Stark and the Red Wedding years before GoT (on TV at least). I assumed it was because they knew they were being cancelled so they said "fu*k it" but some commenters on here say there was a plan to reverse the tragic ending. Regardless this (and finally GoT many years later) helped make every other hero story a little bit more interesting because there was now an actual precedent for the good guys losing in the end.
I’ve watched this show when I was like 13 in Russia. Because other then watching a rerun on tv Chanel which almost never happened if you missed an episode then you missed it for good. I watched every single episode and loved every bit of it up until the very last one where they all were killed. Since I didn’t see it I refuse to believe it for a while lol the whole time thought my cousin and couple of my friends were pranking me
This Shao Kahn is so much better than Annihilation's or what any of the newer games have done for that matter, all he's missing is the helmet. 1:52 in particular sounds like something straight out of MK trilogy.
Lol true. And since this *prequels the 90s movies (b4 Liu Kang was born) I tell myself that Shao Kahn simply got crazier over the yrs leading to how he was in Annihilation 😂 and trying to be like his daddy (Shinnok) a little too much 😅
Let’s be honest, the helmet never looked good on anyone else but OG Shao Kahn. I think his appearance here looks fine, tbh. He looked weird with the helmet in the first episode. At least here he feels like his own character.
A Traitor (Reptile) Dead. Two Sorcerers (Quan Chi & Shang Tsung) Dead. A Queen (Vorpax) Dead. A Daughter (Kitana) Dead. Bodyguard (Siro) Dead. A Thief (Taja) Dead. A Champion (Kung Lao) Dead.
Rarely in a TV show does it end with the villain defeating the protagonists. I really hated the fact that this show ended even if the ratings were high. The ending is kind of a somber one
@Χρυσάνθη Παπ To my knowledge, the show was too expensive at the time. I recall the show being popular but they incorporated alot of CGI and effects and I believe it was cancelled due to budgeting issues.
@@TheBatman602 Mate, the whole series is available on official DVD on US Amazon, I got it couple of months back and it is still there for $20, get it! :D Mind you it is a lackluster release though, but let's be happy it even came out on DVD. Also, this show was designed as a prequel to 90s movies. So true ending of the entire arc is MK Annihilation, yeah I know bit of a let down but at least it has happy ending (regardless of the quality of the movie). The producers had released a timeline for it long ago which was later transcribed on this website: www.mksecrets.net/index.php?section=mkc&lang=eng&contentID=5900&title=Mortal-Kombat-Conquest-Ending-and-Story-Timeline
"Where are the Elder Gods, Raiden? They fear me now. Their pathetic 'Mortal Kombat' shackles me no longer. They masquerade as dragons but are mere toothless worms. My venom spreads, I know you can feel it. It is the end of all things: Armageddon." - Shao Kahn, "Mortal Kombat (2011)"
Kung Lao went on to do Disney musicals Siro went on to do all them shitty sequels to Bloodsport Taja went on to kick Schwarzenegger's ass in Terminator 3
@BlurryBassoon 84 Maybe this is part of the Mortal Kombat timeline, maybe Raiden had to reset the timeline twice which explains why he's more serious in the games
The greatest shao khan ever. Just the intensity of what he said shows a deep burning unforgivablw grudge he has against Raiden in their histories as brothers where the younger brother shao khan was banished into outworld and had his plans and previledges withdrawn from him by the gods because of raiden. Its ultimate revenge.
Imagine if this continued on, Raiden would have taken his job as Earthrealm's Protector much more seriously instead of being laid-back all the time. He'd be going around gathering new fighters without rest and training Kung Lao endlessly.
Just when you thought that Thanos was Evil, but you come across the MK universe and you see Shao Kahn , he is above more Evil than anyone in any Universe. ☝️👍
Omg thnk u so much for uploading this; best ending to a series ever that no one saw... best episodes of the whole series really. Where the hell is our reboot MK live action movie or series?
what is not realized, is that Mortal Kombat did continue for the next 9 tournements. Between this and the 2nd, the Elder Gods returned Rayden, Katana, and a dozen others to life in order to create the rules that Shao Kahn must win 10-straight. To oversee the next tournement, Shao Kahn elected Sang Tsung to manage it.
I like how Shao Kahn's voice changes tone with each declaration of his fallen enemies. Reptile - smug Quan Chi & Shang Tsung - cocky Vorpax - mocking Kitana - remorseful (I like how we actually get to see his human side in this series instead of the typical tyrant we get in the games) Siro - blunt Taja - calm Kung Lao - contemptuous
Seeing this as a kid completely changed my world view. Seeing the bad guy win and the good guys lose was new. Man I cried like a baby at this ending. Completely messed kid me up for like a week.

Raiden*
@@iiPerc I saw thanks
This made me cry 😢 i was 12 back then. I wanted a season 2
A season 2 would’ve of been nice! I hate how it ended 😢 but I gotta give it to Jeff meek, with him playing both shao and raiden, he did a hell of a good job and carried the fuck outta this series
I’m glad there wasn’t a season 2. It makes the ending here so much stronger.
@@lamontbeverly7374 true
@@sauce987654321 yea, but it still hurts lol
I really like this ending. Awesome.
Shao kahn look like he hated that he had to kill kitana
Indeed. A rare look at his human side, which I wish were more explored in the lore instead of having him be a stereotypical tyrant.
Jeffery Meek Should have played Shao Khan on Mk Annihilation
He would have, but once he took a look at the script. I think these are his exact words 'i don't want to ruin my movie career with this trash.'
chaos657 Even though I like mk annihilation meek was right some of the scripts were bad
@@chaos657 That was Christopher Lambert's reaction as well.😅
@@lllilkilla202ll100 The movie was fun and entertaining but the lines were cheesy and not suited for an MK film, a lot of actors were replaced (Raiden, Johnny Cage, Sonya, Jax, Scorpion) and it was full of MK3 characters (with the exception of Kabal and Striker) who had little screen time, no character development and not even their names mentioned.
Something that's seriously understated is that Raiden and Shao Kahn are played by the same actor.
How much regret there was in Shao Kahn's voice when he spoke of Kitana...
I love how the glowing of the medallion hinted at a glimmer of hope for Earth realm.
Ironically, the best ever version of Mortal Kombat series has just ended up after one season of what it was,22 episodes?? But it was absolutely amazing series and the way they ended hurt me back in the time i was watching it in TV but i loved it sooo much. One of the best series I've ever watched.
This Shao kahn is scary.
Since I didn’t see it I refuse to believe it for a while lol the whole time thought my cousin and couple of my friends were pranking me
2:43 The background music is phenomenal
I still wish it didn't get cancelled, I remember watching this after wcw on a school night
do not fuck with shao khan he is a fucking badass
Mike Mccauley That fool had everybody killed in the end 💯
Mike Mccauley this not the real ending it was a season cliff hanger that was never finished
The greatest ending scene to any television program, ever.
Yeah
This Shao Kahn is so much better than Annihilation's or what any of the newer games have done for that matter, all he's missing is the helmet. 1:52 in particular sounds like something straight out of MK trilogy.
Indeed. I don't know what were they thinking , omitting his helmet
Traumatised me as a kid. Still epic.
@Χρυσάνθη Παπ Yeah, it's was pretty awesome. Unfortunately, they never released a DVD set in the U.S.
@@TheSpoofMan3 Oh shit, I didn't think it was ever released. Thanks for the heads up!

Greatest season finale in TV show history
I can agree to this.
"Where are the Elder Gods, Raiden?
They fear me now.
Their pathetic 'Mortal Kombat' shackles me no longer.
They masquerade as dragons but are mere toothless worms.
My venom spreads, I know you can feel it.
It is the end of all things: Armageddon."
- Shao Kahn, "Mortal Kombat (2011)"
Awww I love watching Mortal Kombat conquest Shao Kahn was always my favourite especially as emperor of out world
This show...............................Dead! Sadly😕
Watching this to recapture my childhood memories again before the new 2021 Mortal Kombat movie. Ahhh...such a bittersweet ending for a change.
This was Infinity War before Infinity War
Kung Lao went on to do Disney musicals
Siro went on to do all them shitty sequels to Bloodsport
Taja went on to kick Schwarzenegger's ass in Terminator 3
Lmaooooooo
best shao kahn ever portrayed!
MK Armageddon ending in a nutshell.
ZeMegaManEnt Basically.
Pretty much.
@BlurryBassoon 84 Maybe this is part of the Mortal Kombat timeline, maybe Raiden had to reset the timeline twice which explains why he's more serious in the games
And MK9
He must win!
Jeff Meek playing off against the best actor in the series, Jeff Meek.
"With nothing left to conquer, Shao Kahn was driven to madness."
Imagine if this continued on, Raiden would have taken his job as Earthrealm's Protector much more seriously instead of being laid-back all the time. He'd be going around gathering new fighters without rest and training Kung Lao endlessly.
I thought about this when I saw the end of Avengers Infinity War.
A Spider...ded.
Some other characters no one cares about because the dead of the spider was so heartbreaking...ded.
L j law: uh you know the endgame coming
@@LauraGarcia-yq5eb This one DIDN'T have Endgame as a consolation.
L j law: because iron man snap fingers
Endgame was awesome!!!!
However, this is literally how this show ended!!
It’s like what would happen if Marvel’s Avengers just ended on Infinity War.
I love how it looks like a deleted scene from the original movie.
Just when you thought that Thanos was Evil, but you come across the MK universe and you see Shao Kahn , he is above more Evil than anyone in any Universe. ☝️👍
Shao Khan went Michael Corleone on everybody here!
Nice one 😂👍
So I think that makes Raiden the poor *Carlo* .Lol
Both characters played so well by the same actor. Kudos.
Currently watching it on hbo and this shao khan still the most bad ass, from the acting to the costume
????
Omg thnk u so much for uploading this; best ending to a series ever that no one saw... best episodes of the whole series really. Where the hell is our reboot MK live action movie or series?
Shao Khan tortured Raiden by making him watch MK: Annialation and MK: Conquest over and over again.
Johnny Lira come on, MK: Conquest is a great series. This episode is a proof
kahn* they put the H before the A. they spelled it different. not like them indian people name when the H after the K
Johnny Lira Annihilation is fun though
Conquest is goat
what is not realized, is that Mortal Kombat did continue for the next 9 tournements. Between this and the 2nd, the Elder Gods returned Rayden, Katana, and a dozen others to life in order to create the rules that Shao Kahn must win 10-straight. To oversee the next tournement, Shao Kahn elected Sang Tsung to manage it.
Huh the way shao kahn said dead and daughter it was like he was sad kitana was dead
This was the real shit back then. Couldn't believe my eyes and ears.
Shao Khan was my favorite character on this show.
I like how Shao Kahn's voice changes tone with each declaration of his fallen enemies.
Reptile - smug
Quan Chi & Shang Tsung - cocky
Vorpax - mocking
Kitana - remorseful (I like how we actually get to see his human side in this series instead of the typical tyrant we get in the games)
Siro - blunt
Taja - calm
Kung Lao - contemptuous
Hell of an ending for an awesome show but if only Season 2 happened :/ This would have turned out to be Kung Lao's nightmare.
Seeing this as a kid completely changed my world view. Seeing the bad guy win and the good guys lose was new. Man I cried like a baby at this ending. Completely messed kid me up for like a week.
Underrated show.

Quan Chi's beheading was foreshadowed
this was so awesome
Shao Kahn and Raiden are portrayed by the same actor, Jeffrey Meek. He was the best portrayal of these characters to date! 😎

I cried so much! This was just a dream and series 2 was going to prevent this
No it actually happened. Season 2 was going to start with the Elder Gods stepping in and reversing everything Shao Khan did for breaking the rules.
My God, I forgot how bleak and hopeless this ending was (in the most awesome way possible) like, there's no hope, everyone we care is dead, Kahn won
What an ending... i was glad none of my favourite ninjas were killed..
Scorpion, noob saibot, rain and sub zero
how so?
Need second season for complete the series. Best show adaptation for game in my opinion. 🤟
Traitor- Syzoth/Reptile
Two sorcerers- Shang Tsang and Quan chi
Queen- Vorpax
Daughter- Kitana
Bodyguard- Siro
