I can feel my arms burning watching the paddling and duckdives in the 5/4.

haha yes! I feel like only a small percentage of surfers out there in the whole world know that feeling and how tough it is! One session in a 5/4 feels like 2.5 sessions in boardshorts! 😅💪

I always say, it's only spooky during the lulls. I used to have some spots on Kauai that were empty 90% of the time. Seen tigers a few times. But when it's pumping, you don't think about it.

Haha very true! I've had that same feeling surfing both in Hawaii and here in the Pacific Northwest. Luckily we've never had any incidents with sharks in the lineups here other than the occasional salmon shark sighting and they aren't dangerous to humans, but the big ones are out there in the deeper waters for sure. 😬🙈

I Went this morning for another session but the wind swell faded big time .. winds where light in the 5-7 mph so conditions where pretty clean but smaller .. I'd call it head high to a bit overhead. It doesn't take much to make it super thumpy!

Does anything lurk there that might bite you? The Canadian version of the wobbegong, perhaps? Or any bigger sharks?

We are pretty lucky up here that we don't really have anything to fear in the water. There have been rare sightings of Great Whites by fishermen way off the coast but never seem to come close close enough to the beaches to be an issue. We do have Salmon Sharks which have occasionally been mistaken as Great Whites but aren't interested in humans. We also have a large population of Sea Lions who can be territorial and can definitely make you feel a little uncomfortable in the lineup but have never been known to attack people. Occasionally in warmer months we have a few red "Sea Blubber" jellyfish which can sting but aren't life threatening.

Love your videos dude! I'm heading up to tofino on the 10th for a week and praying the swell comes back. I only get to surf once every 2 or so years so really hope I'm able to get something above 4ft

Much appreciated man! I know the forecast looks dismal for this coming week but it never stays like that for long, and sometimes even when the numbers are looking terrible on paper it actually ends up being unexpectedly awesome. If you are coming for a week you are doing it right and this time of year you are sure to have at least a couple days of solid swell! 💎🙏

That's too bad. If you'd like to change that I'll happily accept donations to hire a professional videographer, but until then it's better than no footage. 🤙🤙

I don’t even want to try foiling because I’m scared I’m going to like it too much.
