Beautiful book. Felt is a great idea for the center of the pages. Felt is great for this type of project. thank you so much for sharing your process. Making the attachments separate and then adding where you need into the book. Is a fantastic idea.
You are the doiley queen. I love your fabric book. You are very patient doing all that sewing
Oh... and I will sew mine completely too. Something to do in the evenings while spending time with the hubby while he watches crap (cause there really isnt anything worth watching anymore) on the tv.
Thanks again.. I cannot wait to see the whole wonderful project!!!
WOW... this is just what I've been waiting for. I love finding how other's do their projects, cause then my brain doesn't have to think too much. I have been laying awake at night thinking about how and what I need to do before I can even start for so many of my projects lately that my blood pressure has gone sky high...not so LOL to that! But you have done amazing here and very helpful!!!
tfs!!, hugs, kimmer
Wow, this was made 11 years ago, and I'm just watching it in 2024.
The book is so gorgeous.
So much time was planned when doing each page. I just love the beauty of it all.
I will be starting my first lace needlebook book soon. Just waiting for special lace and rosettes to arrive. I plan to take my time and plan each page.
Thank you for taking the time to share your gorgeous book.

Oh wow this was my very first fabric book, I may go back and watch this myself. Thank you very much Erma and have a lovely day :)
I absolutely love how you put this book together. I've watched many videos and seen how much prep needed to go into making the book when all I wanted to do was start embellishing the pages. So enjoyed watching this and thank goodness for the captions. All of your books are just amazing!!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I can sew and have been wanting to make one of these, nut it looked daunting...I think because there was sooo much laces and such and how to assemble it was what I really wanted to see. I can't wait to see your finished project! I'm like you...I stare at it for a day or sew before I commit to a
Jeanette, you really inspire all the time but I never think I can get there! I decided that after watching you do the one precious thing book! I don't even think I can think things out as you do lol. I do know, I always love your projects and how you explain your thought process. Thank you for always sharing those tips! xx 🌺🌸🌺
Oh Jeannie, no one will ever do things the same way, there are so many different ways to making a fabric book and putting them together is totally up to the crafter, we all do them differently :) Give it a go, I'm sure you will find your own way :) xx
Was thrilled to see this video as I am wanting to a lace cloth book shortly, but really had very little idea of how to go about it. So this series of videos I are going to be most helpful. TFS. Scrappy hug from NZ
Off to part two. This is already gorgeous!
Can't wait to see when finished! I have been collecting lace and dollies too, want to make one. Thank you for sharing this hugs olivia

Amazing work .. real "keepsake " books. A real testimony to what materials are available in our times. . Well done . Thank you so much for sharing . x
You are very welcome and thank you so much for watching :)
I just discovered your channel, and I wanted to say that I really enjoy your directions, creativity, and your accent. Excuse me for the accent part, but I'm from the south in the US, and I have a southern accent. Normally, I watch you on my tv, and I have no way to add comments, so this morning, I made a point of getting online to say how much I enjoy your videos. Thank you so very much.
Thank you so much for showing how to put the book pages together. I have been fascinated by the idea of creating a lace fabric book. Over the past several months I have collected bits and pieces and now feel ready to start putting my book together. However, I am still in a bit of a daze as to how to bind the book together. Work in progress. Thanks again.
Indigo6g You're very welcome, I have a video that shows a couple of different ways to bind them together which may be of some help for you - Lace/Fabric Book Tutorial - Two Methods :) Thank you so much for watching :)
- Jeanette
Yes I finally started it and I'm really enjoying the process :) Thank you for stopping by Hazel
Hi there :) most definitely start with smaller pages, they can get a little difficult to fill up if they are too big, I would suggest around 3.5" x 5.5" single page size to start with :) I hope this helps
Oh far out love this display of yumminess Jeanette you have inspired me to make one, I have a huge collection of lace doilies and materials and have been meaning to start one but to scared as not a sewer even tho I have a machine my dear hubby bought me it sits there and I'm intimidated by it lol thank you for your inspiration yet again
Oh that is so so beautiful!! I love it!! This is gorjuss!! It's going to turn out beautiful!! I glued mine but it used alot of glue! Took weeks to make! I can't wait to see this when it's finished! Hugs! Linda
Your album is going to be soooooo GORGEOUS!. Thank you for showing how you construct a page. :)
Hi Linda :) Thank you and I can imagine they would take a huge amount of glue up, thanks so much for stopping by again :)
I'm so glad you found it useful, I've seen many books too and just didn't know how/where to start so I'm glad I wasn't the only one who was a little intimidated by them. Now I'm just hoping it turns out ok, haha!!!! Thanks for watching :)
Wow, gorgeous! I am making my 2015 journal from cloth and using up all the bits of things I have collected over the years. So far, I think I may have to make 2 - because if I put everything in one place, it will be humongous. However, I think there is an advantage to cloth because it's more flexible and will be more easily stored than a hard cover. Your pages are inspirational, and truly beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing your talents!
Linda DeChow Thank you so much for your lovely comment Linda :) and yes the fabric books are so flexible and really lovely to hold in your hands. I hope your book turns out beautifully :) thank you for watching
Oh thank you so much, I love to see how others do things too, I find it very interesting even if I never try it myself I love to watch others craft :) Not so good with the blood pressure there :/ but I do agree with there being nothing on the tv so crafting is a good alternative :) Thank you so much for stopping by
Beautiful! So looking forward to seeing it done!
Thank you Wendy :) It's a nice change from the glue and tape that's for sure, tfw

Thank you so much and thanks for dropping by :)
Gorgeous, just curious how you put the pages together if they are thick. Do you sew all the pages together? I tried and mine are too thick to fit through the presser foot. How can I solve this? Thanks
Hi Janette... WOW,what a beautiful page..love the snippets and the beautiful Doily and image... going to be a Beautiful book
Thank you so much for watching Bette :)
Hi Jeanette,
This is just stunning, your book will be beautifull. I think the binding you are thinking of would work, especially as you are sewing it. Love the colours.
Thank you for sharing
Hugz Jude x;)
Oh thank you Tracey :) It's a little daunting to start with but really once you break it into sections it's quite simple, just start by deciding on the type of book you want and then decide the style etc. I really hope you try one :) tfw
Thank you Angie :) I enjoy sewing but haven't done a lot of it over the past years so it's nice to return to it a little :) tfw
WOW WOW WOW Looks absolutely amazing I love how it looks so far. Thanks for all the helpful tips and I'm sure the book binding method will be amazing. On to part 2 I can't wait to see how it comes out.

Love it hi I totally admire that you are sewing it completely kudos to you stunning Hun love it xxxx Wendy
I loved this journal it is elegant! TY for sharing. Your creativity astounds me! ❤ 💘 ❤
Thank you ever so much and thank you for watching :)
Thank you for this tutorial. I've not watched tutorials on fabric books yet - they seem so daunting! Yours is lovely, and I agree that something that beautiful should be made by hand sewing over gluing. Gluing is fast, but the satisfaction one gets when doing something "right" is worth it. I've thought that these books, in 100 years will be the equivalent of handmade samplers, and will be sought after by collectors. Books will be written on them. Their origins and the effect the internet had on their creation +++.
Beautiful fabric journal Jeanette.looking forward for the finish project.
TFS
Hugs

I saw some iron on fabric glue material at Micheal's yesterday. Darn it was on sale too large roll of it. I think I will go back for it. LOL Thank you for sharing such a wonderful project. I hope you don't mind me sharing it in a few craft groups on FB. I love you handmade approach to it too.
Beautiful fabric book Tfs, Janet

This is a huge help for me, as I have not done one yet and really want to try my hand at a lace and fabric book and doily book too. At this point, all I have done is fabric and Lace covers for a few of my Journals. Working on my first snippet roll for Ms. June Angelpews..:) TFS

I love this! I am definitely going to try and make a lace book. How big do you suggest that we cut the fabric for the pages, is there a specific size that is better? I think I will start with a smaller one. Thanks for sharing and again, beautiful work!

I love your lace book. Is the image of the Victorian woman printed on paper? Did you use a special glue?
Hi there :) I'm glad you like the video and find it helpful. There are some lovely images on 'the-feathered-nest. blogspot' (please remove the spaces) or you can try 'thegraphicsfairy' (you can search on this site) also Pinterest is a good place to look for vintage lady images :) have a lovely day
Where do you find your images and are they paper or material? By the way I love your work
Es muy bello ❤
Will use your technique for this project
Beautiful, how did you print the Victorian ladies picture on fabric? Thanks
I used my printer, this particular fabric paper was not one that I really liked but the only type I could find at the time. Here is a link to how I print my images onto fabric now :) - helmarusa.typepad.com/blog/2014/03/how-to-print-on-fabric.html

Sonya Stepto does AMAZING fabric and lace books, check her out :)
Quilting Spray will hold really well while you are sewing and you can reposition and it will still hold the tacky grip - if that makes any sense :D
