Happy Fourth America. And on this occasion, we’re celebrating an amazing American icon and hero of the music world, Melissa Carper! On our channel today, we’re releasing a ‘double feature’ of two new original Carper songs “Somewhere Between Texas & Tennessee” and “Lucky Five.” Accompanying her on guitar is the infallible, Jenn Miori Hodges
Fans of our channel will remember first hearing that sweet melodious voice of her’s from our video, “I Almost Forgot About You.” It was the gateway drug for all of us, and not a day goes by, that Melissa’s music is not playing in our office. Especially with that amazing 2021 album ‘Daddy’s Country Gold.’
But if you’re fans of that record, her new album ‘Borned in Ya’ comes out July 19th on Thirty Tigers. The single of the same name can now be heard where streaming is available and on our Western AF Monthly Playlist on Spotify.
Folks, do not forget to celebrate the music. Nowadays it feels like one of the last slices of common ground we got.

Houston here. Was just in my car getting ready for this crazy hurricane Beryl when Mountain Stage played her song From what I recall on NPR!!!! Immediately got online to find this voice. Just a joy to hear this sound. So upbeat and fun. Gotta new fan here for sho!!!!

This isn't Western, let alone western AF. I'm from Indy, now live in Wyoming. Traditional country deserves a home, but this isn't western. Define you genres please. The east has it's own identity based on farmers, miners, and factory workers. The west has cowboy music based on men who worked for spoiled trust fun babies whose ancestors claimed free land and cattle from the government.
