This guy is a real class act. Pure and simple And, one hell of a player! I saw him on the YesSymphonic Tour and was totally blown away. In fact, he was the absolute highlight of the concert, in my opinion. Thanks for this interview!
I saw Yes on the Magnification tour. One of the highlights for me was when they played Gates of Delirium. Tom frickin' nailed Patrick Moraz's synth tones. It blew my 8th grade mind 🤯
Sometime Rick Wakeman said that any musician arriving to YES needed to have high level of capability... Brislin Is just an example... There Is no weak member of any incarnation... That Is why YES Is so atractive to hear... Timeless music indeed
When Breslin joined YES it was published on Yesworld. I emailed Tom Brislin congratulating him, but he didn’t know yet lol. He thanked me for telling him. My 5 minutes of fame with my favorite band YES. I did see the Magnification tour with Tom and it was great. Thanks for the many wonderful memories of Yes and their music. Have seen them5 times.
Tom shows great energy and enthusiasm performing with Kansas. He is an excellent fit. He has so much to offer them. He was really good on Yes symphonic Live. I think he is a benefit to whoever he performs with in my opinion
I met Tom (and his wife) on Cruise to the Edge 2019 that he mentions in the interview. I was one of the lucky ones present when he first announced publicly that he would be joining Kansas. He is genuinely a nice person and he is one of the most accomplished keyboard players in progressive rock today!
I saw yes in 2001 at Radio City Music Hall with the orchestra and Tom Brislin. To this date it's probably my favorite Yes concert, and I've seen quite a few. Years later, in 2010, I saw Brislin playing with another favorite band of mine, Renassance. It was another amazing concert. Brislin is great.
I had a DX21. Similar. Smaller and simpler than the DX7 and most importantly for me in 1986, cheaper!🤣 I think the 21 was maybe the predecessor to the 27.
I am a lifelong Kansas fan and was blown away by The Prelude Implicit. I couldn't believe such an iconic band could lose so much of it's DNA and still sound essentially like the band it had been........but they did : ) ....and just when I thought well they certainly couldn't do better than that they did with The Absence of Presence .....amazing piece of work. Long live Kansas !
I had never seen a Tom Brislin interview before now, he looks like a great guy and really down-to-Earth. I didn't like Yes to not really include him into the band because of Rick's comeback shadow, but Yes' internal politics have always been highly complicated. What matters is that, for us, Yes fans, Tom is now acknowledged as part of their history.
Tom Brislin is awesome! I have their DVD with Tom - A friend of mine in Seminary told me about it! Wow! I wish he would have stayed with Yes. Tom is very respectful and kind. Bravo! Glad you are in Kansas! Great band - Great Keyboard player - God bless Tom!
I’m going to say it...I think Tom was better than his Russian predecessor! He NAILED ALL the keyboard parts, and is a good guy as well. I’m sorry he didn’t get to do more work with Yes, but it’s good to hear he continues to have a great relationship with the band. He’s the real deal!
Kinda, sorta OT: Jordan Rudess was rejected when he auditioned for Meatloaf. Mr Loaf said something like ~you're too good for my "crappy" band.~ Just an anecdote. Absolutely NOT a comment on talent.
Not taking anything away from Tom but Propulsion 1 sounds unfinished i think it could have been expanded upon or segued to something more in vein of classic Kansas , Don't get me wrong it sounds very good
I really enjoy these interviews with Tom Brislin. He appears to be a hell of a guy. His joy in what he does just comes through.

Tom you did classic Yes music justice - well done - I never got to see the Symphonic tour but I have the DVD and you did GREAT !

Thanks again for this interview Mr. Beaudin! Always love hearing the "behind the scenes" aspects of the band from the musicians.

The way he came out of the keyboard solo in Starship Trooper on the Symphonic DVD is cool as hell
Dude still looks young. Symphonic Yes was 20 years ago!
Tom seems like a salt of the earth type guy. Very difficult to not like him! He’s clearly committed to his craft. Great interview!
I had a DX27! Like Tom, I couldn't afford a DX7. Sounded horrible for the most part. Glad Tom is with Kansas.

Tom Brislin seems to be a nice guy aswell as being a fine musician.
HE is. A standup guy
YES
Anyone who can stand on stage & rip through The Spider without missing a lick is amazing in my book!

Such a great keyboardist and an all around stellar musician. Love the new Kansas CD
Tom Brislin was 4 years old when I saw Kansas on the Point of No Return tour.
Love these interviews. We got the new Kansas LP this past weekend and it’s arguably their best.

Tom was the best keyboard player I ever heard with Yes.
That incredibly beautiful piano solo on An Eye For An Eye For An Eye (The Sea Within).

Cool gig. Congrats!
Great review. Thanks
This interview is very interesting, for sure!

It's Meat Loaf.
