- Welcome to another video with the RS4 V8 engine.
In the last video we bought a spare or repairs engine for this job , stripped it down and sent it to the machine shop. Once everything is back we get to it and we sort out everything to make it right . It was a long process of checking clearance , piston rings , cleaning up everything and making it run. Once the engine was up and running we test drove the car done oil change and the owner finally collected his dream car. Unfortunately there was a problem the next day ....
thank you for watching

Mechanic here, it's rare to see other enthusiastic mechanics who are dedicated to their craft. Bravo boys
Definitely not boring. Very informative. Made it more interesting.
the level of skill and knowledge on this channel is mind blowing, bravo guys
Shame you guys are so far away from me 😑 so knowledgable and trustworthy that’s hard to find these days..
Also extremely costly. Nearly as much as a stealership
Your videos are never boring. Very interesting and it's nice to see broken cars back on the road.
I like these RS5 V8 cars but after watching VAG Technic's videos, these engines scare the hell out of me.
Eh they all are same briggs 5hp to audo v8. U just follow specs and replace ALL wear items
why? if it breaks fix it
Look after it and it'll last forever
@@tomrobinson9410 your wallet may not last forever though
@@mrlool4925 mmmmm, well it’s ok so far, having a charger fitted to mine as we speak
That's some high quality engine building, respect!
Nice job with the video. I just sold my 04 S4 Avant...needed an engine out service after 180k miles. If you guys were close, as in the US, I would've loved to have kept the car and had you guys do the work. Great job.
What I really hate about your videos is there are not enough of them. Good job, Dave.
LOVED THE VIDEO. VERY INFORMATIVE. THANK YOU.
Its good to see a quality engine build, which is why it costs a lot of money. Dave and you take care with every stage of the construction, plus the running in period under your control should help with the durability of the engine. Why the customer should take a brand new built engine then remap it, i cannot understand. It should have a stock map in it for a few thousand miles, just to make sure there are no unforseen problems, which could lead to yet another rebuild (at the customers expence). Thank you Thomas, for a thorough engine build video. I appreciated it, if not many others did. Great to see quality work done. Kindest regards, Dave W 😊
Brilliant level of detail. Thanks for the informative vid. I have a 2015 RS5 and love seeing what’s inside (even though I wouldn’t be game to ever touch anything more complicated than topping up the washer fluid)
This has been one of my favourite videos you've posted, definitely not boring!
I don't know how you don't have WAY more subscribers. This is a fantastic channel!
Not enough Dobermans
Faultless engine build.... thanks 👍
No boring at all what a job 👍
Great video !
Nothing but respect for you guys. That first fire up must be nerve wrecking...
Brilliant footage, thank you for taking the time
Excellent work guys! You made me feel technical esthetic pleasure during you were assembled this monster engine. Awesome!
Great work guys. Very hard these days to find reliable trustworthy grease 🐒🐒🐒.
😊
We built an engine from scrap...respect for such skills 😂 Fantastic channel and high tech guys 🎉 Very interesting.
Mad respect for the attention to detail 👌
As always, such skilful quality work, which is rare nowadays. Just a joy to watch. Fabulous video.
Nothing boring about this guys, bloody lovely videos!
Not boring at all! Really enjoy videos like this! Keep them coming!! 👍👍
Very detailed footage which shows you why the costs of a rebuild are so high
Respect!! Awesome job.
Super job guys!!
Brilliant work guys👏
Really enjoyed that, thank you!
Great video. Thank you
These videos that you guys upload are PRICELESS! Thanks so much for going thru the effort to share them! Awesome work!
Brilliant video as always, great content 👏🏿 👍🏻
Amazing work!
Great video as usual guys, and not boring at all, and love the detail.
That's put me off using MRC for a future project.
Fantastic job , top workmanship , top quality you could not ask for better 😁
Good video cementing yourselves as the place to go for Audi RS engine rebuilds
One of your best videos nice work 🔥
Great job
Very very cool and so easy when you know how.
Enjoyed that ...👍😁
Amazing video, I hope I will be able to do job like this one day.
Having a passion for your job is very important.
Total respect to you guys, fascinating video. I love my B8.5 S5 a little bit more now!
Brilliant, thank you :)
Great job.
Quality video/quality job❤❤🚗🚗
Man if I was near you guys, I wouldn't hesitate to buy an audi rs4, great stuff as usual 💯👍
Respekt good Job 👍🏼
Very informative video. I just had to take my engine apart…only 2 days after assembly 🤦♂️ all because I managed to get wrong sealant. Instead of Victor Reinz reinsoseal I got reinsoplast. F knows what it’s for but it doesn’t harden, stays liquid forever and is a proper pain in arse to clean off surfaces. Atleast it’s my own car and no issues with wasted time, just pi$$ed off about having to do job twice.
great video, good detail, hope you are busy because you sure should be based on this content!
Nice work Dave. IMO, engine assembly is best done my someone with experience of that engine. We all think we can build an engine. I have built diesel engines many years ago. I wouldn’t tackle one of these. There must be a 101 things you could get wrong. This didn’t bore me at all. Thank you.
Good video
Nice job 🙌🙌🙌🙌😊👌👍🍀🙏
Old world craftsmanship on new world engines, I can see a mechanic doing this for himself and his own gratification, but I don’t know if this would cost out for a paying customer.
I want an rs5 so bad you guys show why I should not buy one though!
It’s scary how much a big engine repair job can go. Feels like these high end performance cars are just money pits
I rate your knowledge...this is never boring, so interesting as to what needs to be done from putting a brand new second hand engine in. It's amazing - how is the pull/ power on it?
Gud vid 💯💥
Brilliant done this on loads of engines but never an Audi any idea of What was the total price just of the parts seals skimming the heads gaskets rings head bolts not the labour so I can have idea on doing similar sometimes these cars are having engine trouble and an idea on parts would be great to have idea. Again good video
Great video.do you use a special run in oil ( being none synthetic??
Boring? Fascinating.
Is it going for post build dyno? Good job.
Another amazing and informative video thank you. Do you have any experience with ROWE oil? As much as I appreciate the level of engineering that go into these modern Audi engines it seems they are designed to extract maximum revenue from the unsuspecting customer. I think I will continue the complete overhaul of my 94’ UrS4 AAN 5 pot from an era when Audi actually had company values more in line with the common man and not one which prioritizes the executive shareholder Uber alles😅
1000 Likes 👌
Awesome video, gave me some new perspective. Quick question for the cylinder bores on a second hand rebuild like this, when using new piston rings do you leave the factory coating alone or do you do a light hone?
We leave them , hard to find someone or tools to hone
hello VAG Technician!
we follow you with interest and you are very cool, can you tell us about that mild hybrid, are there any solutions.
Do you have some sort of oil on the journals when you are measuring with plastigauge? It looks like the caps were moving a lot when measuring, which could give a false reading, showing smaller tolerance than actual, resulting in low oil pressure.
What's happening with the A8 mild hybrid?
@23:25-23:28 on start up whats that fluttering sound almost like a pully and then instantly dies down, just curious what makes that noise?
breakaway torque crankshaft rotation values??
Wish I had $10k to have you fix my car. I need a car first though.
Nice viewing for a Bank Holiday evening
Hello. I was wondering if you have a list of all the parts that you would use to put an Rs4 B7 back together. I have not taken it apart yet. But I know that it was knocking. I can only assume it spun some bearings do to low oil. Hopefully I will not have to junk the engine. Thank you in advance.
I was wondering what is the break in procedure for these engines
Aslo, since it’s using higher flow CAT’s it might be the computer doesn’t add enough fuel now. I would add wide band o2 (if not already on the car) and watch what happens under different situations or log them. if there is more power, the fuel enrichment might need to kick in slightly sooner. the knock sensors logging should also help.
We installed these catalytic before , they good with stock map . Only had problem once when the O2 sensor was playing up . Ideally stock map for future , no hard feelings with MRC
Another great video. Can I pick your brains about the oil you’d recommend for these engines. Would you go 5w30 or 5w40 and any particular brand? Do you use Millers cfs nt+?
5w40 Quantum
Another great video 🙂 I have a question: is there a problem with the rocker arm in the a6 c8 3.0 tfsi 340 hp DLZA / DLZ? I ask because i want to buy it from 2019 year. I can't find the answer anywhere online...Best Regards!!
No those will have new arms from factory
Will it be necessary to also check ring gaps or you use out of box use without grinding?
We always check them , but 99% straight fit
Hydraulic valve lifters, installed full of oil or empty?
Alway in oil bath before installation
Another MRC car with issues....
Who knew..... been there.
4 real?
Obviously. Why would I say I had.
Can you expand?
Had a car tuned. Drove terribly. Took it back together faffed about a bit said it was fixed. Was mostly no better. Car was horrible to drive. Couldn't get them to sort. Had tune analysed and it was deemed a lazy / poor tune.
Need to use plastigauge dry. No assembly lube.
Why ?
@@VAGTechnic it will change the spread and measurement. You can see it in the video where it has smeared
Smear of grease on the journal and a silicone release agent on the shell is the actual Manufacturer Instructions on its use.
@@-DC- Yes indeed will also help removal of the plastisgage
What torque wrench are you using ?
It's the M12 FUEL 1/2" Digital Torque Wrench w/ ONE-KEY, It's really great, I have one in my workshop but it's very expensive, at least here in Sweden.
why didn't you tape the bottom of the connecting rods when you were installing them into the block ? can't you easily scrap the cylinder walls ?
How ?
@VAGTechnic just the tip of the connecting rod swaying back and forth during install. It's been known to happen. I'm not saying you did it but it's a precaution some people do to avoid long term problems.
Remapping an NA engine like that is pointless, it's already producing over 100bhp/litre stock , the gains from a re-map vs. the risk from messing with the OE calibration are just not worth it.
what gasket maker you use?
Genuine
Genuine rtv from audi is white grey isn't it? Not black? Great video!
@@VAGTechnic you said don't use genuine silicone
Tuning will be the death of us all. At some point, the encryption may be so strong that these tuner fellows can no longer monkey with the engine parameters. That will be a good day.
