Thank you for the amazing video! I am receiving an error message when trying to import: "No 3D tiles were imported. 6 errors occured during the import. See the System Console'" As far as I can tell I've followed all the steps correctly. What could the problem be? I appreciate the community support
Thank you! My rural desert location came through very patched together. Looking to create a topography map and I'm thinking maybe for this method the deatils are too subtle. Either way I appreciate trying a new work flow.
The resolution of the data is 30m, and if the area is flat with no buildings, there's probably not much detail there, but at least you can get the textures in as well
That looks amazing, is there any way to capture Geolocation information too...? Most of our work is in Australia, so we need this kind of information that conforms to one of the MGA Zones depending on which city we are in. Sydney & Brisbane are in MGA Zone 56 for instance
Yeah, I'm afraid that you can't extract this information from the plugin directly. I think you would have to use some other way of determining the actual MGA zones, based on 4 coordinates that you choose. I just checked with ChatGPT and it said that there are python libraries like "pyproj" that can extract this information. Any other GIS software can also do this.
Hi, I'm on ArchiCAD and I was wondering if you knew a process to import this 3D with texture from Blender to Archicad directly or from Rhino to Archicad ? Thanks !
Yes, since Archicad supports .fbx format, you should be able to just import that same .fbx file that we exported from Blender and place it into your Archicad project. Have you tried it?
Hi, When I import the map in blender, it says: Report: Error Unable to process the root URI of the 3D Tiles:HTTP Error 403: Forbidden. What could be the problem?
Make sure to save the Blender file first when you import 3D tiles, and make sure to save it in a completely empty folder. This is important because exported materials will be located here in the same folder later on. For that particular error, make sure that you have connected properly your google cloud data and followed the exact steps from the video
There's really no way you can miss it. It's the third post from the top and it has the same name of the video. Write me a DM on our platform and I'll show you if you can't find it.
Yes, it's the .fbx file with embedded textures. It works in Sketchup as well, but not sure about Revit. Someone can test it out and report back here :)
You can possibly import the final .fbx file in Fusion 360, but you still need to use Blender and the mentioned addon to get the Google data. Blender is free by the way :)
I've done an extensive amount of testing and it worked every single time. If the Google Maps data os publicly available, it will pull up that data with no issue
Hey thank you that's very usefull ! However I have issue with the Google 3D Tiles import. It says "unable to process the root URI of the 3D Tiles: URL can't contain control characters.......". It works when I import in OSM. Do you know where the issue could come?
I am having trouble with a couple of things... whenever I try to unpack the resources I receive a lot of error messages and my model becomes purple... then when I try to import the model to Rhino the whole thing crashes :(
Make sure to save the blender file in the blank new folder first before you do the unpacking of the textures. In needs to be in a blank new folder, becaues when you unpack the textures, those textures will be placed in that folder next to the blender file. That's very important, otherwise, it won't work. In terms of Rhino crashes, it depends on the size of the file itself and how much ram memory you have. You want to start importing smaller models first and then slowly increase the size because your system may not be able to handle it.

Such a great tutorial, but I can't get my import to work - it's showing a similar error to the one @romainp2746 received. "Unable to process the root URI of the 3d tiles: HTTP error 403: forbidden". I checked my API, regenerated a new API copied/pasted that, and ensured the Map is enabled on Google, but still the error. Any advice would be great - thanks!

Hi there, its a fantastic video, thank you! how could I see the materials in rhino ? I don't use vray but unreal.
