  • Installing the Teyes CC3 touchscreen Android head unit / stereo in my Astra H VXR / OPC!
    This stereo replaces the factory top screen and keeps your eyes much closer to the road than most aftermarket head unit installs which just replace the CD30 quite low down on the center console. This one has GPS, DAB, FM, Bluetooth, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay all built in.

    Looks great this mate can confirm I fitted an erisin headunit with all similar features but as u say quite low down, the sound quality is miles better after I fitted pioneer speakers and a vibe triple sub in the spare wheel well it's unreal

    Hey James we chatted earlier on Facebook, I built this kit 4.5 years ago couple years later I saw Ali express copied it with a fitting kit for that position with an android tablet, yours looks considerably more improved than the one I got but it is almost 5 years old

      Hi, how did u connected GID and the radio to one cable? Can u use multifunction on the radio?

    • @ajninn
      @ajninn Год назад +2

      @@karolkijak4587 I have installed the same head unit ( Teyes CC3 but with 360 cameras ) in my Astra h, and have it working with my GID display, but the original radio is not connected. So in that case you will loose the ability to enter " the secret menu / settings " to adjust the time and date and view things like coolant temperature.Also if your car's AC is via a climatronic / climate control you need to have the GID connected otherwise you will have no power to the AC. I found that the hard way when installing the unit in the winter and finding out that I had no heating afterwards.....

    • @karolkijak4587
      @karolkijak4587 Год назад +1

      @@ajninn Hi thanks for reply, yes I do have AC klimatronic and I know I can't remove GID. I'm also aware that original radio has to go ;) (I have seen an app that replaces those buttons bc and settings and it does work, but but I have seen it on dedicated units ruclips.net/video/2Pmbi6nATFo/видео.html)
      So how did you managed to install head unit and have GID working? Does this head unit require that GID connector to be connected in order to work or it doesn't? What do I loose if I don't connect the head unit with that GID connector?
      AFAIK that GID connector is only power and CAN bus signals - so it seems both devices, head unit and GID can be connected together and the only side offect would be that both react to buttons on the steering whell...

    • @ajninn
      @ajninn Год назад

      @@karolkijak4587 Teyes has a similar app that tries to mimic the original radio functions on the head unit but it's non functional on the Astra. Unfortunately do to some reason ( either lack of effort or didn't even bother to test it on Astras ) their products have somewhat poor compatibility with the Astra H ( especially with cars with climate control ) Be prepared for issues like steering wheel buttons stop working from time to time and require a reset. Also they imply via marketing that the head unit ( Teyes CC3 ) has the ability to reprogram the original steering wheel controls. That is false, that function is only compatible for analogue buttons which the Astra h doesn't have. Now regarding the wiring if your interested in having the unit take the place of the GID screen it does come with a wire harness that requires the GID connector. You can create a Y splitter ( get a second connector and connect it's cables 1 to 1 with the original ) and have both connected and " working " at once. But the issue here is that this causes some interference with the GID screen and you'll lose the climate control information that is displayed on it. After some trouble shooting I found out that to run the head unit it doesn't need the whole connector, it only needs a single cable ( would love to provide a link to a photo but my comment gets removed by youtube ) . This way you have the Teyes and the GID screen running without issues. Without that single cable connection the unit just doesn't power on for some reason. I then ordered the wire harness for the variant that takes the place of the original radio, to check if with it I would have less issues... it had more so I went back. And finally yes to some extent the steering wheel buttons will interact both with the Head unit and the GID screen, but it's only the left scroll wheel.

    Great unit. How do you get AC unit to work? Would be cool to do a video just on how this handles stock functions like AC, fan speed, temperature, etc.... I am convinced to buy one but i totally need AC to work. Also, this would be perfect if it allowed some side tilt so it faces the driver a bit more. Great video

      This doesn't have support for climate control on the Astra afaik, unfortunately. It works fine with normal AC where you set the temp with a dial though.

    Congrats for the video. A question: I have installed the Carlink Android radio in the Opel Astra H but I have a problem with the air conditioning which does not turn on either manually or from the radio. There is no power coming from one of the connectors (the gray one). To understand if the problem comes from the air conditioning alone, I removed the installed radio and reinstalled the old factory display. So I noticed that with the original display and with the original factory wiring used everything works well. can you help me?

    Hi, i have a question : the on board computer that shows consumption, distance traveled, instantaneous consumption, appears in the car information application? I have a Canbus OD box and the cable that comes from the old display only has one wire, so it does not show the information and I am looking to get the Canbus LZ box with its wiring, and seeing that it has more wires than mine I guess it will show more information, I guess. Thank you very much!

      To each their own. I personally like having all the gauges for my standalone ECU on a big touchscreen, and not having to look down away from the road for the satnav (which was annoying AF with a Sony head unit in my Vectra).
      The stock stereo will be replaced with a carbon blanking plate and a switch panel for antilag, traction control adjustment and boost / map switching, eventually. For now it's better to still have a CD30 there than a big hole in the dash.
