Man, this thing sMaCkS!! So wickedly done!! Definitely nailed the iconic sound of the original, it is undeniable! I would LOVE to see more remakes of old classics in this vein!!
I'm really glad you enjoyed this! This video was definitely something different than the usual. Instead of simply showing how a track was originally, made, I decided to put a new spin on it. You can still learn how the original was made, but have it sound different and fresh enough to stand on its own! I enjoyed this one and I think I will try and come up with future videos in this manner!
Not really into Neuro, but I enjoyed that, your content really helps with any style of Jungle/DnB as it's easily transferable, it's helped a lot with my production, Kudos and respect from an original JUNGLIST👍
Thanks so much for letting me know that, as you are 100% correct. Whatever I teach NEVER has to only be towards one particular sound and I always hope that people will take any knowledge they can away from my videos and apply it as they see fit. Best of luck with your productions and I appreciate your support!
These types of sounds are never as hard to make as you would think and this is where sound design knowledge plays a huge role in getting your tracks to be the best they can be.
Thank you and this is why I explained exactly how to achieve this. 3 layers are key. Chords (minor in this case) with bass notes and a higher pitched notes, to really help fill things in!
I actually had to stop after the 6 minute mark. My 15year-old-self from 1997 was so shocked by that drum loop. I thought it was some magic! And now I see the logic behind it. Brilliant! I need some fresh air 😀
Haha! I hope this is a good thing! Sometimes we can have things ruined when they are laid out in front of us and that was definitely not to be the case! There should be nothing lost by me showing what I did, but instead, to instill an even bigger appreciation when you realize they had to come up with this stuff from no where, on gear that was MUCH slower and harder to use! Replicating it is the easy part! 😜
Thanks and I'm really glad you like this! There is so much that can be done to drums if they are grouped together and processed as a whole. Can really help to make your drums more cohesive and upfront!
@ appreciated dude! And I was more meaning the drum kit break remaking. That is a genius idea haha. Keep killing the content bro! Learnt ALOTTT from you🙏🏻
Well I can't say I invented the idea, but it certainly isn't utilized enough! I don't even do this too often myself, but I am starting to lean more into the idea. Having drum kits like these, means you can come up with all new breaks, that sound fresh and authentic, instead of always reusing the same old breakbeats over the past 30 years, or relying on over processing, just to achieve a new sound. Newer plugins like Addictive Drums make this easier then ever and hopefully more producers will start experimenting with this. Thanks for your support and I am really glad to hear that you are taking knowledge away from these videos!
Lost my hearing on my production degree. Can’t eq now, as well as a load of other stuff. Miss producing a lot but your channel gives me my fix perfectly
Oh boy. I am terribly sorry to hear this. Did you suffer permanent hearing loss, bad case of tinnitus? Hearing is so important, not just to production, but living a quality life in general. We must cherish and look after our hearing, with the utmost of care. I hope you can recover from this. Thanks for watching, I appreciate your support immensely.
This was inspiring stranjah! Just a few elements in this (and the OG) and its such a banger. I've gone back to hardware for the holeshot project. Overwhelmed with all the vsts and shit. Working within the limitations of old samplers and modules I am finding to be rejuvenating experience.
@@STRANJAH a lot stuff I have had since the 90s. I have an E-Mu museum. I got multiple E4 gen samplers, a bunch of emu romplers and outboard effects. I got an OG prophet 600 with wine country midi upgrade that I will never part with. I just got a new 4 post rack and started plugging away like its 1999.
Sweet! I had no idea you had all that! I remember you commenting in the OG Jungle Sample Pack video a couple of years back, which was created on all hardware gear, but I wasn't away you had all that yourself!
This a really interesting concept of drawing for a version in a different style, so much more interesting than the normal remix of a classic which often come over as lazy and wack, wicked skills Stranjah 🌻 You should do a Calibre tune in the style of Dylan Freak Skull Step🤭
I'm glad you approve of my concept and idea for this one and felt I was able to successfully pull it off. It was a lot of fun and I will definitely look into doing this type of video again in the future!
It's a sub genre naming that is being used now, for this more aggressive type of sound, but you are right, it was all DnB to me as well in the 90's and 2000's. Some of these genres sound so similar, I have no idea why there are so many names, but that is how it goes these days...
Sure, but since I was trying to have it like the original, I used the same patterns, so it was recognizable. I get your point though. I will try and do more with the drums in a future video! Thanks for the support!
@LordReeseMoog I mean, he's got a point. The scene is becoming oversaturated (no pun intended). I see mainstream DnB taking the Big Room route at this rate.
@@timothyeverson1795 i love both dnb and jungle, but have found myself listening almost exclusively to jungle, jungle techno, hardcore, acid techno and psytrance the last few years. Mostly jungle and JT
Well AMEN ... This BEATS all your previous videos. I'm trying to think of other puns but can't think of any. I think I need a break. Edit: 5:15 double phallus drawing professionally created with audio.
LOL. Well thanks for the really kind words, I am glad to hear that I knocked this one out of the park. I quite enjoyed making this and am going to plan on doing future videos in this vein and I look forward to having your support on those too. ❤
i hate the strangled distorted duck noise. Not innovative like back then. cool vids but it's all too formulaic while every new thing shocked you back then
Thanks for checking it out, even though it isn't quite your thing. I appreciate your honest feedback and yes, back then it was obviously very fresh and new, after 25 years we need something to progress the sound, but what could this be??
This is really cool. Id love love love you to do an in depth video on drum distortion with loads of different examples using sone popular plugs ins like rift/Saturn. Its some i struggle with, wether to bus it out?, splits the drums? Distort the whole loop? Distort the whole drum bus? Hpw to avoid "hot" hits thsts stick out too much. Thanks so much for Ur dedication to help
Some great questions there and definitely an idea for a future video. To quickly give you an answer to your questions, there literally is no wrong way to do this! It is all about experimentation. Try out some of your suggestions and see what you feel sounds best. You don't have to always stick to this method either and can change and adapt depending on the track you are working on, as some methods may work better with certain source material. I have worked in all sorts of manners, but generally I like to group all my drums into a buss, use a gluey buss compressor to hold it all together and have it sound cohesive and then EQ and saturate that way, so everything is being done as a 'whole'. Try out different plugins and see what sounds best and if it sounds good, it is good! Best of luck and have fun! Try not to overthink it!

The very first Jungle record I ever picked up was a Your Sound white label. It's been played so much, the first second is just fried.
Dude, make this into an entire track please!! I need it
I agree! It is so well on its way now, that it would be a real shame to not finish it!

Sounds sick! Have you heard Etherwood’s “what if it were liquid?” Series where he remakes jump up tunes as liquid rollers? His take on Mr Happy is mad
I'll definitely have to check that out, sounds interesting!

Id of the music after the intro, some phonk ?

It is very nice release it
It definitely sounds like a 2001-2006 remix
I would say mission successfully accomplished then! Thanks for checking it out!

I guess you are liking this?! 😜
It's always been Drum & Bass to me, since the 90's. Never really heard of the word "Neurofunk" before.

IMO it's far more teared out than neurofunk, as there is no complex syncopated rolling beat in it (which is the base of neurofunk) 😉
Sure, but since I was trying to have it like the original, I used the same patterns, so it was recognizable. I get your point though. I will try and do more with the drums in a future video! Thanks for the support!

Well I appreciate your honesty and I'm sorry this remake didn't do it for you, but Jungle is well wicked too!
